god bless my majormud days, where if i got killed by a monster or a player, all of my carried items (equipped and bags) were available for anyone and everyone to take (unless i beat them back to the place i died at). i know you people are scared, but what this translates into is a huge real life adrenaline rush during pvp combat. it's incredible, and i'm glad this game has it. just dont use items as a crutch, and use your own player skill to kill people and youll be fine.
Everyone told ya one time about Ultima Online beign the best mmorpg ever. But if you dont try, you cant understand. I left wow because i played UO younger. Now darkfall is the evolution of the UO path. I've stopped playing games but DF bring me back =D for a while

Actually, I have more fun playing quite a few other MMOs than WOW. These include but are not limited to: DAOC, EVE, and DDO.
All of those games are more "mature" than WOW, each with something different and more flavorful. DAOC's PVP, DDO's dungeons and multiclassing, EVE's complex systems and ship reconfigurations...
I consider all of those games to "beat" WOW in terms of what I PERSONALLY enjoy in video games.

WOW was like a cartoon version of DAOC without any real PVP content and it pretty much redefined "quest" from something long and good-feeling to things like "go pick 10 flowers" or "kill 100 creatures to get 20 of their feet"... which DAOC called "tasks". Quests were supposed to be awesome, darnit! And PVP rules!
Yeah, lots of cool landscape screenies on this vid. The great part is that the world in this game is HUGE and it's all handcrafted by the map designers at Aventurine, none of that machine generated crap like in other MMO's, i can't wait to explore on this game. >:)
there are no hordes and no allys xD yes in the beginning the humans got most rep with humans and same with orces but else u r free to do wtf u want :) You can talk to anyone even become an orc when u started as human if u do much of stuff with orc and get rep with em:)

my guess is 3-5 months, from the looks of it they have most of the stuff added, maybe some bugs here and there, but this game will definatly be major competition for WoW!!
1) the world is too huge for that to happen,it is expected to take someone 8hrs. to walk from one side of agon to the other,this will also be offset by clan v clan war:raiding and tearing down cities
2) there are no levels it is 100% skill based
3)they will have to craft to be more efficient in pvp,and if someone chooses not to craft theyll get pwned so i doubt this will happen
Darkfall is a 7 year old played out vaporware joke run by liars. Razorwax went bankrupt in 2006 and was owned by the same people that now own Aventurine and were involved in illegal share holder activities inside of Razorwax twice.

Seriously though, in the end I think this game will be great for those who just like to lose reality and maybe RP a bit. Without direct goals (gear, titles, or killing bosses) though, this game won't make it like many of the larger mmos.

Subscription fees arn't finalized yet, but I read somewhere it would possibly be $10-12 a month, they mainly wanted it to be cheaper than other MMO's of this quality.
I think a developer said the size of the game is somewhat smaller than Germany because each server holds only 10k ppl, not 500k. Runescape is a fair size and only has 2k players per server and you still manage to find ppl in remote areas, so the server size and world size seems pretty well matched, varying per server of course.

Actually Darkfall is the biggest world map ever created in any MMORPG. And its all handmade. Takes 8 hours to walk from one side to the other. I am an old UO-player and compared it too Felucca map. Darkfall is at least 256 times bigger!

It seems these two MMO are very similer.
BOTH can build an empire, both have costume combat styles such in conan you can attack from a 360 degree around you, you can manually block and avoid attacks but I will say that Age of Conan has better graphics with the support of DX10.

Darkfall is skilldependable in contrast to WoW and AoC. Gears will be easily replaced. You dont need to PvE for months for the leetest sword of dragon ganking. Just ask your crafter friend to make you some new weps and armors. Why dont you have 10 backup weapons and armor sets in your bank? Some potions could be nice too.

The only way this game was ever going to be made was if it WAS by a small, dedicated game studio, as none of the bigger gaming companies would make a game that's designed for such a small portion of the MMORPG community.
Also, according to the dev journals, they are virtually done with the game and just looking for publishers atm. The latest video certainly showed a game that looks relatively read to go.

This game has very good ideas indeed. Too bad its being made by a small game studio. The game has been in production for 7 years already because probably they cant afford it. Kudos to them for the ideas they are trying to put in but imo i dont think this game will ever see daylight or if it does i dont think it will live up tho the hype. I hope im wrong because the mmo gaming really needs some fresh ideas.

1) what if people just cover the land with city since they do say you can build anywhere
2) and if that doesnt happen, what if the game just becomes chaos and high level characters just sit outside of towns killing noobs for fun
3)what if the countries spend no time crafting and stuff and just fight all day or vice versa

Seriously though, in the end I think this game will be great for those who just like to lose reality and maybe RP a bit. Without direct goals (gear, titles, or killing bosses) though, this game won't make it like many of the larger mmos.

Alright lex, lemme lay it out for you so you can understand since you didnt go read my other post. AoC is a clone of every MMO released in the past 10 years. Its WoW with a new paint job, and a "slightly" better combat system. Not to mention Darkfall has been in production since 2001, and AoC has been in production since 2003, so yeah, know your shit please, and if the author was here, he would be pissed that they made his story into that shitastic gindmania that is AoC, so dont speak again.

Subscription fees arn't finalized yet, but I read somewhere it would possibly be $10-12 a month, they mainly wanted it to be cheaper than other MMO's of this quality.
I think a developer said the size of the game is somewhat smaller than Germany because each server holds only 10k ppl, not 500k. Runescape is a fair size and only has 2k players per server and you still manage to find ppl in remote areas, so the server size and world size seems pretty well matched, varying per server of course.

Actually Darkfall is the biggest world map ever created in any MMORPG. And its all handmade. Takes 8 hours to walk from one side to the other. I am an old UO-player and compared it too Felucca map. Darkfall is at least 256 times bigger!

NICE! but the game "Age of Conan" MMORPG still has my vote =X
It seems these two MMO are very similer.
BOTH can build an empire, both have costume combat styles such in conan you can attack from a 360 degree around you, you can manually block and avoid attacks but I will say that Age of Conan has better graphics with the support of DX10.
but this game still looks really nice and I would like to try it out.

Darkfall is skilldependable in contrast to WoW and AoC. Gears will be easily replaced. You dont need to PvE for months for the leetest sword of dragon ganking. Just ask your crafter friend to make you some new weps and armors. Why dont you have 10 backup weapons and armor sets in your bank? Some potions could be nice too.

The only way this game was ever going to be made was if it WAS by a small, dedicated game studio, as none of the bigger gaming companies would make a game that's designed for such a small portion of the MMORPG community.
Also, according to the dev journals, they are virtually done with the game and just looking for publishers atm. The latest video certainly showed a game that looks relatively read to go.
Seriously though, you should go read the forums :)

This game has very good ideas indeed. Too bad its being made by a small game studio. The game has been in production for 7 years already because probably they cant afford it. Kudos to them for the ideas they are trying to put in but imo i dont think this game will ever see daylight or if it does i dont think it will live up tho the hype. I hope im wrong because the mmo gaming really needs some fresh ideas.
