  • Classic ! Thank You WNYC

  • this is just so fucking amazing

  • maybe drugs do fuck you up in the long run

  • He's a wag that Lewis....Frankly I like him and I have a crazy suggestion that if you don't like his stuff perhaps you shouldn't torture yourself by listening to it?

  • the people who slag off lou reed, id love them to get on stage n do the same thing when they're nearly 70! they'll probably either be dead or senile!

  • hero

  • interessant ist, je älter ich mit den Typen werde, desto spannender wird es für mich ...

  • I think his voice has really deteriorated with age. Just compare this with versions of the same song from ten years ago.

I mean what do you expect, he is nearly seventy.

  • This is so dreadful it is beyond description.

  • What kind of guitar is he using?

  • Comment removed

  • Lou Reed is an Institution. He can't just "retire".

He doesn't steal any room for next generations, he just inspires them.

  • Great man, a living legend.

  • Great, Lou! Keep on rockin!

  • thanks Lou Reed...very spezial and great

  • boy his voice sounds completely raw here.............or is it old age?

  • this does not need to be said but... I LOVE LOU REED...

but its hard to give a shit these days.....

  • This is freaking awesome!!!

  • valeu brother!!!

  • Dont fuck with lou! and respect for rock n'roll animal

  • Nossa como o velho Lou está velho!

Mas como sempre mandando muito bem

    Viva Lou reed!!!

  • I guess he had a bad day, low energy level etc. (maybe a drink too much the night before). He might still be much better on his good days. For me the question is if he can adapt to these problems of old age. After all he is not that old! And maybe he can come up with one more of his amazing stunts... develope into still another stage personality. Good luck, Lou!

  • @psychemusik he wrote this in 87 were were u then ...........maby a bottle in your mouth or in your pops nuts still ........... the lp this came off [ the song] was released in 89

  • @psychemusik

I don't think he drinks anymore.

  • They should have a contest between Lou Reed and Keith Richards titled, "Who's more grizzled?"

  • He's almost old enough to play the Super Bowl Halftime show.

  • so sad for a fan like me to realize that he was better when he was young

  • I'm sorry that it is true....I hope you make sure you know who's good now so you can see them live in small venues in their prime....and then when your old and a young person says "it's sad to realize he was better when he was young" YOU can think of a time when you saw him 30 years before when he was crazy good.

  • he' still trying. age has nothing to do with art. BOB DYLAN made Time out of mind in his 50's and that's one of his very best albums. None of us are as good as we were when we were younger, but thank god LOU is still out there trying!!

  • @MrPernell27

Lou Reed's not really trying though is he? In the past decade, he's done awful spoken word Poe and retrospective Berlin/MMM tours. He's done nothing really new to push himself.

  • Who isn't though? He was fantastic even 5 years ago. Let it go man, let it go. This is still a good performance.

  • Real musicians such as lou reed, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen ( REAL arists) never retire. Suggesting the likes of lou reed should retire is a very shallow comment. Show me that presance and charisma in a 20 year old and i'll be proven wrong lol

  • Not to mention the insight in their music and lyrics.

  • the "retirement" thing you pulled out is pointless, never proving the genuinity or the real artistic outcome of one self. a musician, or whatever artist may be active for just a few years can leave an undeniable mark in history, or perform 200 dates a year for 30 or so years and never be worth a penny. reconsider your views! i respect and admire artists like Reed, but this performance is embarassing, and i bet HE would agree!

  • Gotta go with you, KEPHALLE.

Fan of Lou Reed, but this is quite awful. An old man singing out of tune with died hair.

Age - it gets us all......

  • Masked90: Think about it, at some age, no matter how great you are, it's time to stop performing on stage. I've heard first-hand that Dylan has been terrible lately.

This performance by Lou is very shakey at first, but gets better when he stops trying to sing.

  • @ EdiblePlanets: You heard Dylan has been terrible lately? I saw him 35 years ago and he was terrible then.

Lou Reed never plays a song the same twice, sometimes he misses but when he's on he's on.

  • @Masked90 i seem to think otherwise. he can hang up the boots. Reed not so much as dylan but still. Its cool to keep playing but he put out like 6 albums with Velvet Underground and a pant load of solos. i say put out two or three really good albums with no filler junk deep tracks and play those. Just a thought. I think musicians should retire. :)

  • The reason real musicians like Lou, Bob, Leanard, Tom Waits and Patti Smith dont retire is simple. They are poet artists who went with music. the brains of geniuses never retire. They create and will not be silenced till they cease sucking air and you stick them in a box. that is what makes them great. its that simple.

  • @Masked90 all jews too!

  • @Masked90 I disagree. It is perfectly ok to laud a musician for his past accomplishments and yet criticize him for not being able to admit to himself that he's a spent force.

There's no presence or charisma here...just denial.

  • lou reed is a rock god

  • i wish lou would get back to speaking all the words in his deadpan Brooklyn drawl. it sounds way cooler than his shaky singing voice.

  • you can't beat this. that's great art

  • I love lou. And lou has no reason to retire. He gets better as he gets older and if you don't understand that then you have a problem.

  • It looks like he's playing a Guitar Hero game.

  • I can't believe people thumbed you down so badly....what you say is just true, as much as I love Lou.

  • @knowoneknowhere Couldn't agree more. This is dreadful beyond belief.
