  • Before he goes to sleep at night, Chuck Norris prays to Rickson Gracie.

  • renato laranja is filming this video 0:51 for proof

  • rickson is the best truly 460 wins 0 lose that record is incredible better then any fighter i have seen and that aint all bjj he also did aikido and jut jitsu and he was great at aikido he is the best and he was the one who thought his brother and the legend goes on

  • The best Rickson Gracie

  • Roger is not the most successful Gracie in Bjj Rickson is the legend !

  • from what ive heard, rolls was the best out of all the gracies and when rickson was around 20ish rolls was the only one at the gym who could tap him out. The rest of the gracie family said that he was on a completely different level than them.

  • There was a tap at about 1:38 Rickson wins by bow and arrow choke.

  • Lengendary! Great video. Check out the Passion for MMA - documentaries show today's fighters & all their hard work & dedication. Keep up the good work and all best!

  • i didnt see no tap from "pedro sauer". i didnt see no subission either. the crowd just starts clapping and the two fighters just stop fighting. why did the crowd clap? the fight wasnt over. i'm not sure this is the real pedro sauer either.

  • @judgerofwars taps on Rickson's shin at 1:40 due to gi choke.

  • @judgerofwars Regardless of who it is (and it looks like Pedro Sauer) it's a gi choke that finishes the match while Rickson is setting up 3 other techniques on the back burner.

  • @judgerofwars That's definitely Pedro Sauer and you're missing the point. It was a beautiful relaxed roll from both of them. Watch at :38 as Master Sauer takes the time to scratch an itch on his left shin with his right foot. These are two guys so in their element and at such a level that the average jiu-jitsu practitioner can't even comprehend what he's watching.

  • @judgerofwars

That is obviously Pedro Sauer. Also the tap is quite clear.

  • Master Rickson is a living legend, His "Bodily-kinesthetic Intelligence" makes him unique and superior

  • 4:42 that guy had the right idea.

  • FYI .....Rickson Gracie has had over 400 BJJ, Sambo, and MMA fights in witch he is undefeated. Hes an very gifted fighter

  • @remi66 one recorded defeat in sambo and theres no recorded proof to that claim even his father doubts that claim

  • Sakuraba and Frank Shamrock would have been great match ups back then with Rickson,,,

  • Pedro Sauer is probably the only comparable opponent against Rickson....

maybe Roger too.......I think Roger's size would make up for his "disadvantage" against Rickson.

  • Its def Pedro and em, he kinda got tapped lol

  • This is bullshit man. I can't believe these assholes talking while he is. Rickson is my equivalent to a living god, and I would be beyond words if I was in his presence.

  • i agree, Rickson would take Roger but only on points. both these guys are pretty close to un-submittable

  • Guys on the camera don't realise how lucky they are to have these two guys together!

  • @iain9876 That is a little frustrating!

  • its pedro valente

  • @ashworthsteven: that is Pedro Sauer, at his school in Salt Lake City, Utah in 97.

  • master

  • that is pedro sauer being beatin by rickson

  • Pedro Valente

  • People talking into the camera just ruins this video.

  • thanks for posting this but stay out of the fuckin video and listen to the man...

  • First off Rogers name isn't Roger Gracie. His dad is not a Gracie, but his mother is. Second comparing their skills is impossible. Rickson is in his late 50s while Roger is in his 20s, and I still think Rickson could take him. They are the two best BJJ artists in the world right now. If I had to put my money on one it's Rickson.

  • This was '97 in SLC, UT. That's me in the front row. An amazing night, Rickson rolled with one guy using no hands, and triangled him in 20 sec, then he subbed me and almost everyone else in the room. Priceless experience.

  • This was '97 in SLC, UT. That's me in the front row. An amazing night, Rickson rolled with one guy using no hands, and triangled him in 20 sec, then he subbed me and almost everyone else in the room. Priceless experience.

  • I trained in this exact gym over 12 years ago lol WOW I miss those days...

  • No one could take Rickson, he doesn't even know the sound of his hand tapping out.

  • @EMPIREofPUPPETS I hear he once had a bad day rolling with people just to see what it was like.

  • man this is like watching godzilla vs king kong in the mat i could watch them roll all day

  • Why compare Roger to Rickson? One is 20 to 25 years older. Are you going to continue to compare him to the current generation when he's 90? He has passed the torch. He was hands down the best grappler of his time but the body eventually deteriorates.

  • Roger and Rickson are family. Let's not pit them against each other, that's rather low... I wouldn't mind watching them spar or flow drill for a bit, though. Would be very educational, I think.

  • It is, Pedro Sauer. Note all of the students wearing Pedro Sauer team gis? It's Pedro, man.

  • Does anyone know what year this video is from??

  • I asked Pedro and he says it is him in this vid.

  • whos this rickson guy he doesent know bjj at all

  • @2submit You are kidding, right?

  • FYI Professor Rickson rolled with Professor Sauer after Rickson rolled with over a dozen students.

  • hey its the "professor" (pedro sauer) I see him every week at my gym.

  • Rickson even at his age is still the best sport BJJer, even where Roger is concerned. Go and read Fihlos recent interview about training with Rickson. I was just with Rickson this week and trust me, he is still amazing.

  • Wow. This is the only time I've ever seen Pedro get tapped out. This is when Pedro had has black belt, I think (can't really tell from the video). This is such a high level of jui-jitsu that it doesn't make sense to even try to measure it.

  • Awesome!

  • I went to a Rickson seminar in March 09 in Tenn, Sauer was there and Rickson made everyone there including Pedro look like amatuers, it was impressive

  • WOW WTF LOLOLOL

we just got affiliated with pedro sauer...

that move to take the back at :50...

we just learned that last night LOL

  • Learn to master taking the back all the great ones do that Royler Rickson, Leo Vieira, Marcelo Garcia, Roger Gracie,Fernando "Terere" Augusto. If you want to see how to take the back check out several of Terere fights, nobody takes your back better than this guy! Check out how he takes Marcelo Garcia's back and then taps him for the World Championship in 2003 or 2004 can't remember which one, check out how he takes Roger Gracie's back and almost gets the tap, Roger was just too strong.

  • this' way silly, why talking about family against family, doing the same thing and it ain't gonna be much fun and remember Jiujitsu isn't base on speed or strength, it's base on timing and leverage

  • I have the pleasure of being one of Master Sauer's students and train with him in Maryland. Truly an amazing man. Great post.... we need to see more of these.

  • Im under Rickson and I'm in Maryland, where you at in MD?

  • 5 Stars here as well. Old School Legends !

  • What always scares me about watching Rickson roll is that, no matter who it is, he makes them look like a white belt. I would love to see him roll against B.J. Penn or Roger Gracie. That would be a trip.

People can say what they want, but for me, this video proves that Rickson's the man. Period.

  • no doubt he is a great grappler by the accounts of guys like saulo and galvao whove trained with him,hes never proven himself though as Im sure those sessions werent full intensity.Likewise with pedro who was never a champ anyway but a great coach.

  • pedro won many tornaments in brazil back in the day he is considered the best black belt rickson has produce

  • i train under pedro! woo hoo! lol.

  • In 2007, Paulo Filho trained with Rickson for a while. He said that no one did to him what Rickson did. And that his technical knowledge is 2nd to none. For Rickson to be able to handle a modern blackbelt like Filho is impressive.

  • @angelsonx

It would be a trip but Rickson is in his 50's now. Now Rickson in his prime would be awesome.

  • LJSJiujitsu,

I agree. Age might very well be a factor in such a match. However, might it not go either way? Age diminishes speed and strength, but enhances experience. I'd still love to see it, if only for the sheer beauty of technique on display.

  • Roger is considered the best in the family right now. Rickson is amazing but Roger is top dog. I don't think he could be Roger at this point.

  • Roger may be the most successful Gracie in BJJ right now but you really can't compare him to Rickson.

Rickson is a legend in fighting and around 53 or 54 years old. On top of that I would still put my money on Rickson in a match with Roger.

  • @agentmma Thumbs up to that. Roger is considered the "best in the family" out of the ones that actually compete. Rickson hasn't competed for years because he has nothing left to gain from it. People think this competitor or that one is the best only because they've happened to see them win. Rickson has 20-30 years of technique on all the guys actively competing right now. His jiu jitsu is perfect.

  • @agentmma You can't compare him to Rickson because hes fought the best in his own sport and he's fought guys who know what they're doing in mma.

Rickson avoided competitive fights like the plague.

  • @agentmma your money would be gone then.

  • @agentmma

I think we CAN compare him to rickson.....I mean Roger's BJJ is unreal....in terms of technical ability it's gonna be hard to find out unless they spar or there's an extensive comparison. In a match against each other, both men are almost unsubmittable, especially in gi, and Roger is much larger than Rickson. I don't know if Rickson will have any advantage in skill....probably, but not a whole lot more then a monster like Roger.

  • @agentmma you cant compare a lad with 8 world titles against the best and several adcc ownages against rickson who grappled at a time when nobody was great,(1987 ws his last match)didnt condition or strength train and far less people trained??Rickson is more of a legend than proven, people say he whups elite guys several years ago but I guarantee no young world champ black belt is going to disrespect rickson by going 100%

  • @agentmma errrr I wouldn't.

  • @enime lol i know right. Rickson isn't a god, and people need to stop treating him as such.

  • @agentmma roger won much more championships then rickson. And theres another thing that many people forget: when rickson was at his best, jiu jitsu wasnt that famous around the world. When roger started competing, jiu jitsu was much more spread around the world, and there were much more tough guys to fight with him

  • @zxkjr

Saulo Ribeiro in his recent book Jiu Jitsu University said that Rickson made him tap, as well as everyone else that was in the gym, the last time they trained together. Saulo shows the armbar setup that Rickson used in the book.

Roger is awesome and def. the best competing today but Rickson is still on another level.

  • @zxkjr

As far as championships... Rickson won the most prestigious competitions of his era in BJJ. When he was competing the Mundials did not exist. There weren't any No-Gi World Championships or ADCC.

  • @agentmma...but BJJ didn't have nearly as deep a talent pool as it does today. Roger's competition > Rickson's competition. Respect to Rickson but its just silly to think that a 54 year old Rickson would get the better of Roger.

  • @UnworthyBaldHead

Some people would say that it's silly that a 54 year old Rickson would tap Saulo Ribeiro or Andre Galvao who just won ADCC but they both have said that when they trained with Rickson recently he tapped them and everyone else in the gym out. I'm just going by what current world champions say, it's not my opinion.

  • @UnworthyBaldHead it is actually not silly - dont let age fool you - Pedro Sauer is the same way - there whole lives have been Jiu Jitsu - at a recent seminar ( Rickson Gracie ) Rickson had all the Blackbelts place him in an armbar from guard and not one could even budge him let alone tap him - Not one - the man is a force - the age he is at now doesnt make the least bit of difference -

  • @agentmma so would Roger.

  • @Mortido

yea roger is on another level then anybody else in the world

  • @Mortido roger is the top dog, but I bet we cant get the old man... I was training with one of rickson's black belt in rio and he told me that he cant get the old man, rickson is a really slick guy even at his age

  • @Mortido I would bet money that Rickson would hand Roger his ass in a BJJ/No-Gi grappling match. Paulo Filho (amazing BJJ) said in an interview that recently, when he was training with Rickon, that he never got a bigger ass-whooping by anybody in his whole life haha. And Rickon is in his 50's now!

  • gsp made bj look like a white belt

  • why the fuck are people talking while he speaks

  • @4c00h i like when he turns the camera left and the guy is doesn't wanna talk to him or let him talk and just points back at rickson. haha. pretty disrespectful and dumb to talk while rickson is trying to spread knowledge. not something that really happens every day

  • That was Lao that the camera turned to and then back. I was there during this. But what happened the following morning was even more amazing...

  • I would've literally told him to shut his mouth. especially if he was trying to talk to me about whatever he was giggling about. i mean cmon, its rickson.

  • @4c00h There is a big difference between talking and speaking too, huh?

  • @ReverendNovember

    yes, there is

  • @4c00h I know......its the exact same disrespect as talking in a church...fucking children!!! DONT YOU EVER TALK IN THE PRESENCE OF A SPEAKING GOD!!!!!

  • @4c00h Who are you? The Iron Shiek? He would suplex Rickson Gracie, put him into the Camel Clutch,...and you know the rest.

  • @4c00h Very well said!

  • pedro is my teacher

  • u do jui jitsu

    since wen

  • @chiefkickyu and, Pedro is a stud

  • These guys are on such a different level it doesn't even seem like Jiu Jitsu as I know it.

  • it is professor sauer. no doubt.

  • thanks for posting this. 5 stars

  • Pedro says it is him. I've talked to him about it.

  • It was Jan 1997 Grand Opening of the State Street School in Utah.

  • Yup Pedro Sauer.

  • Thats Profesor Sauer so cool .

  • That IS Pedro Sauer!!!!! And that video is awesome!

  • Possible this could be Pedro Sauer.

  • You could be right about that but I don't know for sure.

  • i wonder who they are?

  • Comment removed

  • @rich85seal thats predro , cant y0u recongnize his voice

  • @rich85seal yeah he looks about the same size

  • @rich85seal My bro that is the professor himself on that video Pedro Saur with Rickson Gracie. Those guys are sick and there transitions are no joke and if you ever get the chance to visit make sure you stop by both schools.

  • Comment removed

  • @rich85seal this is Pedro Sauer. I trained under one of his students, Eddie Camden, and have met Pedro Several times. One of the world's finest Gracie JiuJitsu practitioners and a good man! Awesome to see 2 GJJ legends on the mat

  • Not sure what the year or who the opponent is. Rickson calls him "Pedro" in the video.

  • @agentmma It isn't Pedro Sauer, the video is too grainy to be 100% sure. However Pedro has his own Ju-Jitsu team and his own schools. It would be rare for a seminar to have both Pedro and Rickson there.

  • @daridp: It IS Pedro Sauer, at his school in Utah, in 97. And that is a rare opportunity to have two of the very best in the same room.

  • quem é o adversairo e de q ano é o video?

who is the opponent and what is the year of the video?

    valeu. obrigado.
