Wow... every time I see and heard this video... it brings back A LOT of memories when I was younger,,, I agree this game is sooooo awesome specially 12 yrs ago!!!! I love the story as well BUT on my opinion the creators FAILED on BOF 5 or whatever they call that... i dont think it can match the goodness factor of this one even though it has a "better graphics"... This game will always remind me of my past. Thanks BOF 4 for being part of my life lol
BoF games have never been able to stand up to RPGs like Final Fantasy in terms of graphics, sound, and popularity. But it's just something about the BoF series that's damn amazing and sets them apart for those smart enough to give them their time of day. Parts 2&4 made me fall in love with the lore and characters. I just wish the BoF games weren't so underrated. They definitely deserved more popularity unlike the shitty newer versions of Final Fantasy games.
This is definitly one of the best RPG's out there, together with the first tow Suikoden games (I never played the later versions, so I don't know about the others) and FF V.

I first played this game when I was eight on PSX, but I wasn't able to finish it because my CD broke -.-
I bought it in 2011 when I was 18 and played it, and I still think it's one of the best games ever. The intro still makes me shiver every single time I see it. There's no other game, old or new, that ever touched me like this game did.
This is the only JRPG outside of the Final Fantasy series I ever played. It was always one of my favourites as a kid. It was bright, colourful, the battle system was great and it had a pretty good story.
I know I'm going to become incredibly unpopular for what I'm about to say but......I think this game is better than Final Fantasy VII.

I'll be honest, this was the only BOF I didn't care for much. I think it was the fact you had a restricted world map. Also, the camera views were pretty bad, and objects would often distract your view, even after rotating. I did like the fact that inactive characters gained levels, though. That creates a nice balance. Never fully beat it, so I can't really comment on the storyline. BOF3 is my fav in the series.
@FuIIOfFaiI Ohh, and another thing. It would always have areas that looked like you could access, but couldn't. Sometimes it'd even have NPC's. I realize this is for atmosphere aesthetics, but it was just confusing. I will, however, still beat this game fully in the future.
they ruined breath of fire when they made number 5 for the playstation 2, they could have given final fantasy a run for its money but the graphics and that were just bad, the graphics on this game seem better in my opinion

I almost broke down and bought a playstation when I saw Breath of Fire made their sequels on the PS instead of N64. I cried a little inside that day. Thank god for emulators.
The other games I had tried at my friends house like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Laura Craft.... Hated all of them, their controls felt slippery. Only thing I wanted was the breath of fire series.
@Pineapbrium I Used to have an old 3.1 Floppy disc in the mid 90's with the entire disc used to store this intro, id watch it all the time hoping to one day get to play it the most epic trailer to a game or intro to a game ever till i got into parasite eve.

I downloaded BoFIII and IV on my computer recently. I used to have both and beat em, but I lost em after awhile hahahaha. I'll probably sart another file soon.
You know, in retrospect, this cutscene seems pretty similar to Okami (at least to me, anyway. If Okami were an anime...). I wonder if Capcom got the same artists working on it

I just bought breath of fire 4 off of amazon! and I have completed the set of breath of fire games! 1 and 2 for gba. 3 for ps1. and dragon quarter for ps2!!!
This game was the first ever RPG i played, from the moment i played it and had to work out my strategy killing tough monsters i loved it...Getting the dragon Kaiser? at the ruins... Fighting the big dog outside the ruins entrance which just felt epic and mysterious and then the ending where i literally cried after completing it because i loved it that much, i played it over and over again it was amazing, nowadays i can hardly be bothered to play the newest Final Fantasy all the way though.
Can I get an opinion? I'd like to know which BOF game is best. Only one I had a a kid was II on th GBA, and I loved it. From what I've seen of Dragon Quarter, it doesn't look like I'd mind some of the things it does either.
This is quite the epic cutscene. If BOF were an anime, I'd watch it. The stories I remember were awesome.

Oh god... I finished this game only once... because I didn't know A SINGLE WORD of english and it took me 100+ hours to finish it. Now I wan to replay it to understand the story. Too bad the beginning is LAME and I stop after like 1 hour or two.

I downloaded BoFIII and IV on my computer recently. I used to have both and beat em, but I lost em after awhile hahahaha. I'll probably sart another file soon.

You know, in retrospect, this cutscene seems pretty similar to Okami (at least to me, anyway. If Okami were an anime...). I wonder if Capcom got the same artists working on it

I just bought breath of fire 4 off of amazon! and I have completed the set of breath of fire games! 1 and 2 for gba. 3 for ps1. and dragon quarter for ps2!!!

This game was the first ever RPG i played, from the moment i played it and had to work out my strategy killing tough monsters i loved it...Getting the dragon Kaiser? at the ruins... Fighting the big dog outside the ruins entrance which just felt epic and mysterious and then the ending where i literally cried after completing it because i loved it that much, i played it over and over again it was amazing, nowadays i can hardly be bothered to play the newest Final Fantasy all the way though.

Can I get an opinion? I'd like to know which BOF game is best. Only one I had a a kid was II on th GBA, and I loved it. From what I've seen of Dragon Quarter, it doesn't look like I'd mind some of the things it does either.
This is quite the epic cutscene. If BOF were an anime, I'd watch it. The stories I remember were awesome.

@DocRavage I'd say that I loved 3 and 4 the most. But 3 is still my all time favorite. Didn't fancy Dragon Quarter that much.

Mmm, thank you. I don't know why I bothered to ask, even. I guess around that time, I hadn't realized that Capcom is pretty consistent with high quality in their games. Dragon Quarter does seem to have some annoying things about it, but it doesn't seem bad by any means.

Man I played BoF3 and LOVED it, this looks awesome. Wish I had a copy. I really thought the next game in the series was BoF Dragon Quarter, which was just... awful :P

Oh god... I finished this game only once... because I didn't know A SINGLE WORD of english and it took me 100+ hours to finish it. Now I wan to replay it to understand the story. Too bad the beginning is LAME and I stop after like 1 hour or two.
