I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks their music new music is just crap. I thought maybe I needed to expand my mind a bit... but I just can't get into it... Neon Ballroom was good, but the beginning of the end. I loved Freak Show but Frogstomp will always be where its at. As anyone who's ever been a band knows, you call pull things off vocally at 16 that you just can't do in your late 20's. Daniel today can't sing what Daniel 14 years ago could.

ironically this is probably one of my favourite silverchair songs, i just happen to enjoy the rest too. i cant stand it when the crowd yell "OLD STUFF! FROGSTOMP" when anybody with a brain would realise that a) frogstomp really isn't that good, and b) they always play the best song off frogstomp anyway. daniel does get a bit carried away live though

Frogstomp and Freak Show were just as creative, just not as complex. Diorama and YM are too layerd. Diorama especially. For every track they lay down, they are adding 10 synthesized effects, and I blame Paul Mac, not Daniel. I hate mainstream just like you. I nearly vomit when I hear Nickleback or 3 Doors Down. YM stands out in its "quirkyness" but not in originalitly. Its a bad merger of Midnight Oil and Jethro Tull. More is not always better. Too many ingredients spoil a dish.

Daniel said the Frogstomp represented "naivety", Frk Shw "anger", NB "depression", Diorama "escapism", and YM represented "acceptance" But what needed to be accepted? What was it he had to resign to? The fact that he is 30 now and not 20. The Diorama Daniel could sing anything from YM just fine. This YM Daniel could never sing Learn to Hate, Spawn Again, or One Way Mule. YM is no more original than Frogstomp, only his influences have changed. A EPIC attempt, but a failure.

Rowley, you really need to be called out. Silverchair were "sell-outs" during Frogstomp, when they had the most fans. They risked losing fans by making an album like Young Modern. He has improved as a songwriter, and the only reason he's more outgoing on stage now is because he's no longer seriously depressed!! And what is this with Ben and Chris hate Silverchair?
