  • I knew nothing about Tunisia at all.

Although I do find it odd to hear a 25 year old who has lived outside of Tunisia for 20 years say "At last we can go back" - I wonder if when she gets there she will think "This is a bit crap, I'm going back to the UK!" :-)

I find it odd how so many people emotionally attach the word "home" to places they have hardly lived, or in some cases never even been.

  • @TheRationalizer it's perhaps because you never be a refugee or child of a refugee. When you live where your roots are it's different as living as an uprooted any where in the world even if it is in a paradise :)

  • @RachClou

My school friend's parents were from Pakistan. He was born in England and had never been to Pakistan, yet he always used to refer to Pakistan as "back home." He told me everyone he knew did it too.

Love for someone/somewhere you have no solid memories of = learned emotion. That's why children of Christians grow up loving Jesus and children of Muslims grow uo loving Muhammad.

But anyway, I hope all goes well for Tunisia!

  • @TheRationalizer its a metaphorical home for exiled families
