  • One love.... i love my little island Grenada...when am there am free, free as a bird....go visit if you never being there before its beautiful u will love Grenada believe me, the people are very nice to you and the atmosphere is excellent .. there are so much places to visit and so much things to see

  • yeah european and americans are really like that, they love to exaggerate, i don't know but it's just them. they tell people to smile and pose for photos and then post it on internet and say people are very happy and friendly lol and they love to take photos of the worst things. only god knows why.

  • whats the name of this song and who sings it?

  • That's The Clash, "Ivan Meets G.I. Joe" from the album "Sandinista!" Thanks for your interest, and reminding me to give a great band credit.

  • thats song rocks .thanks for the info...........and i here people throw marijuana seeds all over the island and there like weeds everywhere........lol

  • Please stop "gangarizing" the Caribbean. Please.

  • my thoughts exactly....you can see my other comments on this above..these tourists have a way of exaggerating and suggesting that ganja is growing like coconut trees everywhere. And obviously the soldier prefers to remember 'his' Grenada as having be overflowing with it!

  • it's ganja actually

  • The room temperature fruit juice drinks with lots of pulp were yummy.

The gunga, aka marijuana, it grew wild and you could smell it.

  • that is not true. stop misrepresenting the island. no one where ever you are from is impressed by your story telling or stretching.

  • It is true, mdmb5.

When I was there in Grenada back in 1983 I drank fruit juice which had lots of pulp and it was at room temperature....And the marijuana, it grew wild and you could smell it. Or maybe it wasn't wild and was planted by dopers instead, but it was everywhere.

  • Ok, I wouldnt propose to argue specific details from 1983 - back then I was in diapers. However even then marijuana was an illegal narcotic and I find it incredulous that it grew without restraint everywhere. But again, I dont know. My response might have been because of the oft gross exaggerations that many visitors to the islands pen on websites and blogs as a matter of course - sorry - especially Americans. Mis-characterizations are frequent from many of them.

  • I was there in OCT. NOV. DEC. of 1983 and never saw any plants while on patrol...I heard rumors of others finding some but I never did...I just remember good beer, good rum, and good people... and the most beautiful island I ever saw. You have a paradise. God bless Grenada and her peoples.

  • thanks for the support on this! That was rediculous to suggest. the island may have beeinf going marxist or communist but marijuana was not growing freely. good to have a soldier who remembers truthfully.

  • I suggest you check back the page and see the posts of other soldiers who were also there - you seem to be be the only soldier who remembers marijuana growing in wild plethora. stop exaggerating and trying to make everywhere that is not American sound so backward. Its this sort of enthnocentrism that causes people to think of America the way they do. God bless American - and Grenada and other nations too!

  • Okay! Another true story. Believe it or not. Onboard the Trenton or maybe it was the Guam? Not long after the initial invasion some Marines heading home decided to light up while onboard ship. The smell of course led to a search and lot of Marines were caught with a large total. I heard this story from some Grenada comrads while in Lebanon. We were on patrol in Grenada. At the radio station for example, to the left of the building while facing the ocean was a ridge filled with POT PATCHES!

  • At this point I dont think you have any credibility on this issue. No one believes you. I don't think you're lying - I think you're mistaken - I'd stop at suggesting that you were high on marijuana which you proactively sought out (not found ubiquitously) and somehow remember the island as being ganja heaven. I won't suggest that.

  • I'm not going to argue with you
