Yes, historically Michigan has had great success against the sec in bowl games. However, the sec has really come into its own over the past 15 years, but I remember the Michigan of old. Ms. State also had a good run in the nineties, (although no one remembers) particularly on defense. The current defensive front doesn't compare to those days! You mentioned Arkansas but they have not been an sec power until recently. But with the exception of 2007, 2001-2009 has sucked for MSU.
@lochwharral I think your biggest problem is MSU seems to be a stepping stone school. Meaning your coach will only be there for about two years (maybe less) to make a name for himself before a big boy comes calling. Shoot a lot of people around here are throwing his name around and this bowl game might just be a job interview for the Michigan job (if its even open...speculation). Seeing as how Michigan might not want to blow up the program again and bring in a spread coach.

He knows that (per capita) , Mississippi produces more top football talent than any state. If you don't believe that, do the research if you want. For starts, MS only has 3 million people. Ms has a much smaller population than La, but Louisiana takes the cake for 2010, in NFL players per capita. Hey MSU fans, a Tide fan here. Don't fucking worry about the butthurt Michigan fans. Their team fucking sucked in the Gator Bowl because RichRod thought, "Hey, let's give the ball to Robinson and that's enough to beat Miss. State." Wrong. Dominant game. I pull for Miss. State unless their playing Bama of course, but you guys dominated Michigan and they'll come up with anything to say it wasn't fair. Hey, this is the SEC bitches. All you people that are speaking so negatively about Miss State must feel a little bit upset that we are not in the SEC cellar anymore. Just stay tuned because we are only going up as long as Dan Mullen is our coach. We already have plans to upgrade the stadium and facilities to help with recruiting. So don't talk down to us because we are supporting our team and actually expect on winning all of our games as should every team in the SEC. Laugh now and cry later. Hail State!!

The only thing Michigan has to talk about is the past. So what if Miss. State hasn't won as many bowl games as Michigan. Maybe if you guys came down south and played a little more, you would know how hard it is to get to a bowl game. The SEC West is in the undefeated in all of their bowl games thus far, and it appears that they are about to win a National Championship. How is your conference doing?

The SEC is better than every other conference, hands down and it showed on this day, but the insults aren't necessary. Michigan got rid of that Big East coach, and will get back to REAL Michigan football. The Spread and everything else is now gone and we hope to see you all in a BCS bowl game, 1 day.

@zippy476 Mississippi State came from the best division in any football conference. Every team that was ranked higher than MSU lost a maximum of 3 games. The only team that beat us that didn't dominate in their bowl game was arkansas. We had a pretty good season and kept our promises by beating the hell out of you. i for one was embarrassed for my team to be on the same field as such an inferior team as michigan. Like I said he is probably there for about two years. He should have just waited another season and took over the Florida job, its apparent he was the master mind behind it.

One reason that you keep hearing Dan Mullen's name is because the sports media hates MSU. They want the big boys to stay on top and want CDM gone from MSU! In their mind, he is supposed to be at a big name school because they know he's good. Recently, DM agents were approached by a school with a big football history. He was not interested. He wants to be at MSU until he feels he has done all he can! He will enter his 3rd season at State with a very nice, new contract. Its not all about money!

If Michigan had to play 8 sec teams every year, I highly doubt they would have much of a winning tradition. Ms. State is an original member of the sec. 10 of 12 teams in this conference are bowl bound, on a down year! Btw, raves are gay!

@lochwharral Go look at Michigan's record versus the SEC. I think people quickly forget Michigan used to be a Alabama, Arkansas, LSU type power. 2000-2010 hasn't been the best though I will give you that.

Yes, historically Michigan has had great success against the sec in bowl games. However, the sec has really come into its own over the past 15 years, but I remember the Michigan of old. Ms. State also had a good run in the nineties, (although no one remembers) particularly on defense. The current defensive front doesn't compare to those days! You mentioned Arkansas but they have not been an sec power until recently. But with the exception of 2007, 2001-2009 has sucked for MSU.

@lochwharral I think your biggest problem is MSU seems to be a stepping stone school. Meaning your coach will only be there for about two years (maybe less) to make a name for himself before a big boy comes calling. Shoot a lot of people around here are throwing his name around and this bowl game might just be a job interview for the Michigan job (if its even open...speculation). Seeing as how Michigan might not want to blow up the program again and bring in a spread coach.

@zippy476 Dan Mullen is not interested in going elsewhere for right now. He wants to build consistency at MSU. He knows that (per capita) , Mississippi produces more top football talent than any state. If you don't believe that, do the research if you want. For starts, MS only has 3 million people. DM has excepted the challenge. It's not an easy one because of the recruiting competition with the big boys in sec west...and some of them cheat!!

@zippy476 There are different ways to look at this but I'm talking about players per capita-NFL, not overall numbers. Ms has a much smaller population than La, but Louisiana takes the cake for 2010, in NFL players per capita. Ms and La are always at the very top of the chart.It would be better for you to do your own research that way you can pick up more stats than I can list on here. I could list links but they won't link up, and they're old. Articles are from USAtoday, Rivals.com, etc.
