  • Vogliamo Noel Presidente della Repubblica italiana. Leggenda!

  • This is such a beautiful interview. Liam will never be a fraction of the man Noel is.

  • When you look at Noel being interviewed now you can tell he was clearly on something during a lot of these earlier interviews! :P Even so he still manages to be articulate and witty! The man is an absolute all time legend.

  • THIS IS ONE OF MANY EXAMPLES WHY BOTH OF THESE MEN ARE THE ABSOLUTE MASTERS IN THEIR FIELD

  • this is my favourite sir michael parkinson intreview

  • Really great interview. Parky use to asked the questions no one else dared.

  • What a legendary man!

  • Legend

  • You can see a little remnance of Noel's stammer when Parky is pushing him on his Father.

  • He's a legend but shouldn't of sacked Mccarroll the way he did

  • I could listen to Noel talk for hours...absolute legend..

  • Great interview from Parky here, he really gets Noel to open up, but Noel looks so uncomfortable at the questions about his dad. Gotta love the way he fights it off though, and tries to make a joke about it in the end

  • great interview

  • fuck all the people who dislike this!!! This man is a GOD!!!!!!!

  • Man I love Noel, such a character!

  • Noel squirms quite a bit in this

  • 5:59 is awful to see

  • great job from Parky

never seen Noel opened up like that, love this special interview

  • When Parky says "Define that brotherly love", I thought Noel was gonna what he said in a previous interview

"I love Liam, just not as much as Pot Noodles" :D

  • is there a point at 5:59 where he nearly breaks down?

  • he really starts cutting in deep at about 5:40. really creepy to watch.

  • parky and noel, absolute legends

  • if you type ''will oasis ever die'' into google translate and then translate it to Vietnamise and then back to English it then says ''oasis will never die'' ~ so true

  • @Hisreadysaltedness I hope that's sarcasm...

  • Who else does he mention at 2.05? "Cos' Bob Dylan's only got two CDs in his Best Of and '??????' only got two in theirs."

  • @ryanadamuk the beatles

  • @ryanadamuk it's either the beatles or the beach boys

  • @CaptainCharismaY2J beatles

  • @ryanadamuk the beatles

  • Noel a sir. No fucking way would Noel have that. Like he says he don't like authority.

  • what a fantastic talent.Wish he would release a solo album then he will be right up there with the ultimates Lennon and Bowie

  • Arise sir noel.....

  • This...made me love him even more, if that's actually possible.

  • What an inspiring person ♥

  • Noel is just a great guy in general...i mean as we can see at 5:59 he looks like hes getting ready to cry as most people would but for him to feel the way he did then and turn it round into a laugh is just amazing...shows he doesnt wanna brag bout his problems yet his music helps so many people with theirs

god bless you Sir Noel Gallagher

  • I was about sixteen when this came out, and I had decided to spend the night in.....I had no idea this interview was only telly. One friday night I decided to stay off the streets and just stay in and chill out. I was obsessed (still am) at the time and this came on, and lock the box was on straight over. One of the best nights in I have ever had

  • Love Parky and Noel talking about what fascinates them both.

This explains why Noel is the way he is, bless him.

  • a beatle lost in time right there

  • noel is god

  • I want to give that man such a big hug. Noel Gallagher has inspired me like nothing else has. Without him and the influence of Oasis I would not be the happy, carefree and hard working person I am today. So heartbreaking at 5:59

  • @plzHOLDtheLINE calm down.

  • what a positive person :D !

  • @LadyScorpio39 Weird because it seems to me like:

    1. You are watching Oasis videos, which makes it quite bizarre that you hate them so much.

    or

    2. You are going to Oasis videos to make stupid comments about people who deeply appreciate the Beatles, and don't copy them, but really love them.

there is a third possibility that you just love Parkinson...

  • @LadyScorpio39 hey lady whatever listen to me ,all the bands you're listening today ,are all influenced by the beatles ,oasis are the only band that make it almost to be as good as beatles , so there is nothing to hate about them best band of the last 20 years no doubt

  • @JacuzziBooty Nice username.

  • noel gallagher is freeking brilliant...

  • The man wrote cracking good songs. When I first heard Live Forever, it sounded both familiar and like nothing had come before it--yes, it was that good. I didn't think they could top it, and they didn't, but they came awfully close with Some Might Say.

  • This is the most heart breaking interview I've seen of Noel ever.

You can see his hand trembling at 5:55 ..

He's really nervous and touched here. That's way his stuttering is that remarkable here, because when he's nervous his stuttering increases.

  • Parkinson is such a good interviewer - he massages Noel's ego at first, bigging him up, so that he opens up, then the real questions begin.

  • its so amazing when ya see him..he's always so joking but man..that one second..where his voice cracks..its so hard not to feel your heart crack a bit hearing that little break..

  • 5:57

that is the saddest laughter ive ever seen

    its like crying

  • And what did he say at 6:47 about the worst part in his youth?

  • @irikrus Which part? At 6:47 he says, "I don't consider my upbringing to be any different to anyone else who lived on my street".

  • 21 people's clocks were stopped and never re-started.

  • poor noel kinda panicking a bit 5:59

  • poor noel

thought he was going to break.

  • this is a superb interview

  • This is perhaps the best Noel interview I've ever seen. He let his guard down and opened up like never before.

  • Aarrrr.. British accent so cool but so hard to understand . What did he said at 6-14??))

  • @FinchOverboard "Yeah...How do you know all this?"

  • Comment removed

  • fuckin british accent i cant understand everything .

  • @myautomobilefunk Haha mug. It is pretty thick though.

  • My fucking hero (Noel not Parkinson) hahaha

  • 5:56 I've never seen Noel so nervous in an interview...

    Live Forever Noel Gallagher

  • @Marghelascema I have to thank him to i am glad you italians can write good english it ensures when I order a pizza you don't get the order wrong lol

  • Damn Parkinson was good

  • I could listen to this man speak all day.

  • Noel is Rock n Roll !!

Fuck the queen and her gay boy Knighthood !! : )

  • Long Live The Irish !!

  • @GDFullOn Sorry for the delay, I got a 10! I was the best one of my class (: Ty a lot

  • i heard "No Gaga" when he said Noel gallagher.

  • Ex-fucking-strodinary Noel's intelligence and wit and eloquence...a lad that became so erudite and insightful... True Genius.

  • noely noely!

  • For those that don't know, whenever Noel or Liam were shown on MTV in the states there were always subtitles . I gotta be honest, I wouldn't mind them during this interview.

  • @Superstarseven Haha i didn't know that, you would probably need subtitiles to understand me then because my accent is similar to Noel's.

  • 6:15 - massive tension relief for the audience

  • This proves there's a lot more to him than the media often portray.

  • i disliked Noel till i saw this interiew. Shows u should never judge a book by its cover

  • aw i had a tear in my eye when day were talkin bout es dad! love da gallaghers <3 legends

  • @GDFullOn hahaha, I know it sounds strange, but i have a subject at school that it's call "Fluency", and our homework was to find an interview of a native speaker and explain it to the class, and as I love Oasis, I chose this one (:

  • @Contramimundoporvos Cool...how'd it go?

  • HERO.

  • Hey guys, listen, I am argentinian, and i have to do my homework in based on this videos, but the thing is that i cant understand what does he says on the 0:12 Can anybody help me?

  • @Contramimundoporvos Their songs becames the anthems of a generation. They also lived a lifestyle that embraced the extreme or drugs, sex, and rock 'n roll. They lived long enough to celebrate album sales of 50 million and to make a best of album called "Stop the Clocks"

What exactly are you doing in school watching an Oasis interview?

  • 1:10

  • At 5:59 You see Noel (for the first time I can remember in an interview) looking a little bit uncomfortable. He's obviously for a split second remembering the times when his dad used to bash him about and it's making hima little uneasy.

  • I didn't realize, it's "Rock N Roll Star" playing at the begining. Loooool

  • say what you like about the Gallagher brothers, or Oasis, but to me Noel is one of the most interesting men in rock today. There just isnt any bullshit with him.

  • Have you noticed that Michael Parkinson used to look quite a lot like Noel Gallagher? Even the hair fit, look up some interviews from the early 70's (like one of the brilliant ones with Muhammad Ali) and you'll see what I'm talking about.

  • he doesnt have a stammer....

  • @125possom It's not that noticeable...but he does still stammer occasionally

Sometimes he stammers a little at the beginning of sentences. Generally on the word "I" I've noticed.

I do the same thing when I get really nervous or excited and I had a stammer when I was young.

  • @GDFullOn

I have yet to see a comment from yours where you don't talk about yourself in it you egotistical dipshit.

  • @MoonwalkerWorshiper

You are a spiteful cunt aren't you?

I barely remember you, except that you are a psycho...why on earth are you still stalking me?

Just face the fact that you are a sad sad pathetic loser and I don't like you...stop talking to me!

  • @GDFullOn

It's weird you reply to a month-old comment to whine about me stalking you, what are you paranoid? I can't help you are commenting on every Oasis thread I visit to talk about your personal life. We come here to watch Noel talk about his life, not you talk about yours, we don't give shit if you have a stammer. And I, as a true mega fan of both Gallaghers, am colossal tired of you ranting on and on about Liam being the source of evil. So please - shut up! Or expect more rants.

  • @MoonwalkerWorshiper Because I have a life and don't check youtube constantly.

I wasn't talking to you anyways.

    Psycho!

  • @GDFullOn

    "Because I have a life"

I would appreciate if you didn't use it to spread your selfish shit all around youtube and talk about it, since as I said I don't give a shit about your life, personal or opinized, regardless of "who" you are talking to. This is a public comment space, not a private chat room for you and your self-worshipping/Noel-crushing bullshit. I comment because I can, if you think you can slag off half the Oasis group on every forum. Go back to your boy bands crybaby.

  • parkinson says extremes of sex rock n roll no i don't think they were extreme in sex, or even drugs since they quit a very long time ago and they aare right

  • Brilliant interview, contrast that with that dick Wonathan Joss when he interviewed Noel. Parkinson was a true professional, and Noel is just a genius.

  • I like it how Noel says he won't get a knighthood........good on you Noel.......remember what David Icke says, those Royals are all Lizards.

  • 5:59 - 6:00. That one second right there just makes my heart break a little.

  • @nobleasthmatic I know what you mean. There's a vulnerability to him that we don't usually see.

  • how do you know all this? well you see noel there is something called wikipedia these days

  • But he does'nt own a computer remember??? Thats what I like about him, keeping it real........not like some fucking idiots these days.

  • someone would have told him that info

  • yeah fucking idiots with there computers.... How did you comment on youtube again???

  • (sigh)

  • @lohello567 Keeping it real? What?!! He sold out when he went to Downing Street to drink champagne with Blair and Mandleson and then he spent millions on cars and mansions and drugs and lost touch from where he came, at exactly the same time his musical writing went downhill

  • i fuckin love noel gallagher.

as others mentioned, parkinson does a good job getting some sensitive answers outta him

  • Great, Great Interview.

  • HERO

  • What does Parkinson say at 6:09 - 6:11?

  • 'you developed a stammer because of that'

  • bit harsh

  • he was sayin that because noels dad use to beat him..noel developed a stamma

  • "none of that's [Manchester] ever come out in my music"

    Rockin Chair

"I'm older than I wish to be/this town holds no more for me"

    Sad Song

"Where we're living in this town/the sun is going up and it's coming down/but it's all the just the same at the end of the day....we're throwing it all away...."

"lately have you ever felt the pain/in the morning rain/as it soaks you to the bone"

(about being in a dole queue)

    mmmmm.....not so sure Noel!

  • nonono and no, you did not undertand ANYTHING. He is not talking about Manchester, he is talking about his childhood.

  • his childhood was in Manchester, so if he's talking about his childhoold as you say when he sings "this town holds no more for me", he's hardly talking about freaking New York, is he?

  • @THthefirst yes not about hes dad beating him up, all hes saying is leaving and arriving places

  • Comment removed

  • well Noel wrote it and sings it

  • Comment removed

  • bollocks - i'm looking at the record now and it's written by Noel and sung by noel. in fact, go on you tube and listen to the song and it's obviously noel singing it.

You do know the difference between noel and liam, right?

you're weird - the first song liam wrote they released was little james in 2000. Sad Song was years before.

  • Comment removed

  • wow

    u r a pin point cunt

  • bit harsh

  • Parkinson is such a good interviewer because he gets Noel to talk about personal things, and to feel relaxed. Compare this to that twat Ross's interview.

  • He's always good value for money.

  • People forget this, but interviewing is an art. Parkinson is the Micheal Angelo of interviewing,

  • @pspcrazy205

    whose michael angelo

  • i could listen to this man, for hours, hes a bloody legend..noels not bad either..lol ( thats a joke, hold back the venom...but hes just funny, noel ya a gezzer..

  • every now and agian i do.

  • cant agree more m8....im a 70`s northerner child so i know wot he means..

  • yeah so am i..yeah, hes a great guy..

  • Just an absolute legend, love how he is so positive. Inspiration to everyone!

    Live Forever!

  • This is quality journalism: basically all the questions are questions that have been answered 10000 times by Noel, yet Parkinson succeed in extracting the most interesting answers ever on those questions. Plus Noel's in tip-top shape!

  • This is the only interview that I hear Noel talking about his family's violence. Do you know any other one?

  • Noel is always good in interviews

  • Hes from Manchester, like meeeee :)

  • you can see him cringe when they talk about his dad

  • he just really didn't want to talk bout his old man

  • no that would make u a person who has taste

  • the MAN, the LEGEND!!!!!!!

"See thats the difference between the middle class and the working class they experiment and we just get stuck in" class class class line lol and on parky!!

  • Noel is so hot!! and Talented and funny I can't wait for his solo effort

  • Thats a great interviewer

  • "Yeah...How do ya know all this?"

    Brilliant.

  • Incredibly ironic that they're talking about whether Liam would save Noel if he was getting his head kicked in, as it did happen. Love this interview.

  • ONLY Parkinson can interview Noel like that!!!

  • its touching to hear about his past troubles

    long live Noel Gallagher

  • neol wont ever be knighted cause he counts himself irish

  • He is a great interviewer.

  • He DO smoke the ganja with the occasional spliff, apparently

  • free of drugs? "yeh"...guaranteed he smoka tha ganja

  • when parky tells noel of how he was scared of his father and how he was beaten, you can see the noels face change as he remembers it.

  • Could you write what he says in that part please? Cos I had some troubles to get that well. Thank you.

  • fuking hell is there a wiser man left in this current shitty music industry

  • As far as I care, this is a fact: There are extremely few people in the music industry that can even hold a candle to noel intellectually.

  • u know wat, i never liked oasis and had a pretty bad impression of them. But ur so right in what u say. I've gotta hand it to him; he's the coolest, funniest down to earth and intelligent guy in the music industry, and beyind that.

  • @SeanCarols00 So why are his lyrics largely juvenile and meaningless and intellectually lazy, clumsy and famously inarticulate and why is he on record saying he finds lyrics really hard to write?

He's uneducted and admits he hardly reads any books. It's not his fault, it was his upbringing. Don't make out that he's some sort of intellectual, he clearly isn't, and this much is obvious.

He is, however, quite witty and sharp, and good fun and a talented songwriter of melodies.

  • @THthefirst because he likes those kind of lyrics stupid!

you don't have to have top education to be concidered 'intellectual'

Johnny Rotten is very bright, but he came from a council estate in North London.

so shut up you snobby twat!

  • @skint0n0minted If you have to resort to calling someone a twat, you have obviously lost the argument.

Where did I ever say that only wealthy people can be educated?

The point is, someone can be witty, good fun and bright etc but not be an intellectual. An intellectual is someone who loves art, reading, drama, academia etc. Noel Gallagher is not and never will be one of them, and he knows it, but who cares? He is what he is, a writer of some decent songs and he has talent.

  • @THthefirst obviously..... erm, is songwriting and creating music not a form of art, and songwriting it's self is reading your surroundings and writing about them. You think a intellectual is someone who likes reading, tv, art and that? hahaha wally!

an intellectual is someone who works with their mind and thinks a lot about things. someone who is intrested in art and reading is just an average person i know loads of people who like art and reading it don't mean they're intellectual.

  • @skint0n0minted Noel Gallagher is not an intellectual - it is ridiculous to even suggest this! He was one of the lead members of band that was the total opposite of intellectualism and which embraced drugs, lager, "having it" "being mad for it" etc etc and had anthems sung by millions of football fans. Noel admits he hardly reads and finds it hard to write lyrics and he is on record as being arrogant, rude etc. No way is he an intellectual. You must be taking the piss, right?

  • @THthefirst you just don't know what an inttulect is. would you Say Stephen Fry is? I would, and hes had a drug problem, been to prison, drunk a lot - those things make no difference you don't have to be a goody two shoes to be intellectual.

An intellectual is someone who uses there mind a lot e.g creative people, writers, teachers, philosiphers.

  • @THthefirst you are aware the term 'having it' means go for what you want in life?

and since when has any rock n roll band ever had an intellectual style? thats silly!

hes not rude, he can be arogant sometimes, not overlly arogant like liam was. its just that hes honest - and most people say what they think you want to hear, we live in a very fake era.

  • @THthefirst its people like you who put down people who love rock and roll and think only opera and people who read those old books are intelects what makes mozart any better then the beatles, opinion. i hate these snobs who think rock and roll is dumb and classical music is so much more sophistucated and makes you a smarter person coz it dosnt

  • @abbielovesoasis er, no, just don't think thre is much if any evidence to suggest that Noel Gallagher is an intellectual. The man is on record as saying he doesn't read. That doesn't make him bad or without talent.

  • @THthefirst john lennon did all of thos things and he was incredibly inteligent and an intel
