When you look at Noel being interviewed now you can tell he was clearly on something during a lot of these earlier interviews! :P Even so he still manages to be articulate and witty! The man is an absolute all time legend.
Great interview from Parky here, he really gets Noel to open up, but Noel looks so uncomfortable at the questions about his dad. Gotta love the way he fights it off though, and tries to make a joke about it in the end
if you type ''will oasis ever die'' into google translate and then translate it to Vietnamise and then back to English it then says ''oasis will never die'' ~ so true
Noel is just a great guy in general...i mean as we can see at 5:59 he looks like hes getting ready to cry as most people would but for him to feel the way he did then and turn it round into a laugh is just amazing...shows he doesnt wanna brag bout his problems yet his music helps so many people with theirs

@Contramimundoporvos Their songs becames the anthems of a generation. They also lived a lifestyle that embraced the extreme or drugs, sex, and rock 'n roll. They lived long enough to celebrate album sales of 50 million and to make a best of album called "Stop the Clocks"
What exactly are you doing in school watching an Oasis interview?
At 5:59 You see Noel (for the first time I can remember in an interview) looking a little bit uncomfortable. He's obviously for a split second remembering the times when his dad used to bash him about and it's making hima little uneasy.
say what you like about the Gallagher brothers, or Oasis, but to me Noel is one of the most interesting men in rock today. There just isnt any bullshit with him.
Have you noticed that Michael Parkinson used to look quite a lot like Noel Gallagher? Even the hair fit, look up some interviews from the early 70's (like one of the brilliant ones with Muhammad Ali) and you'll see what I'm talking about.
It's weird you reply to a month-old comment to whine about me stalking you, what are you paranoid? I can't help you are commenting on every Oasis thread I visit to talk about your personal life. We come here to watch Noel talk about his life, not you talk about yours, we don't give shit if you have a stammer. his childhood was in Manchester, so if he's talking about his childhoold as you say when he sings "this town holds no more for me", he's hardly talking about freaking New York, is he?
bollocks - i'm looking at the record now and it's written by Noel and sung by noel. in fact, go on you tube and listen to the song and it's obviously noel singing it.
You do know the difference between noel and liam, right?
you're weird - the first song liam wrote they released was little james in 2000. Sad Song was years before.

"See thats the difference between the middle class and the working class they experiment and we just get stuck in" class class class line lol and on parky!!
Incredibly ironic that they're talking about whether Liam would save Noel if he was getting his head kicked in, as it did happen. Love this interview.
u know wat, i never liked oasis and had a pretty bad impression of them. But ur so right in what u say. I've gotta hand it to him; he's the coolest, funniest down to earth and intelligent guy in the music industry, and beyind that.
@SeanCarols00 So why are his lyrics largely juvenile and meaningless and intellectually lazy, clumsy and famously inarticulate and why is he on record saying he finds lyrics really hard to write?
He's uneducted and admits he hardly reads any books. It's not his fault, it was his upbringing. Don't make out that he's some sort of intellectual, he clearly isn't, and this much is obvious.
He is, however, quite witty and sharp, and good fun and a talented songwriter of melodies.
@skint0n0minted If you have to resort to calling someone a twat, you have obviously lost the argument.
Where did I ever say that only wealthy people can be educated?
The point is, someone can be witty, good fun and bright etc but not be an intellectual. An intellectual is someone who loves art, reading, drama, academia etc. Noel Gallagher is not and never will be one of them, and he knows it, but who cares? He is what he is, a writer of some decent songs and he has talent.
@THthefirst obviously..... erm, is songwriting and creating music not a form of art, and songwriting it's self is reading your surroundings and writing about them. You think a intellectual is someone who likes reading, tv, art and that? hahaha wally!
an intellectual is someone who works with their mind and thinks a lot about things. someone who is intrested in art and reading is just an average person i know loads of people who like art and reading it don't mean they're intellectual.
@skint0n0minted Noel Gallagher is not an intellectual - it is ridiculous to even suggest this! He was one of the lead members of band that was the total opposite of intellectualism and which embraced drugs, lager, "having it" "being mad for it" etc etc and had anthems sung by millions of football fans. Noel admits he hardly reads and finds it hard to write lyrics and he is on record as being arrogant, rude etc. No way is he an intellectual. You must be taking the piss, right?
@THthefirst you just don't know what an inttulect is. would you Say Stephen Fry is? I would, and hes had a drug problem, been to prison, drunk a lot - those things make no difference you don't have to be a goody two shoes to be intellectual.
An intellectual is someone who uses there mind a lot e.g creative people, writers, teachers, philosiphers.
@THthefirst you are aware the term 'having it' means go for what you want in life?
and since when has any rock n roll band ever had an intellectual style? thats silly!
hes not rude, he can be arogant sometimes, not overlly arogant like liam was. its just that hes honest - and most people say what they think you want to hear, we live in a very fake era.
@THthefirst its people like you who put down people who love rock and roll and think only opera and people who read those old books are intelects what makes mozart any better then the beatles, opinion. i hate these snobs who think rock and roll is dumb and classical music is so much more sophistucated and makes you a smarter person coz it dosnt
@abbielovesoasis er, no, just don't think thre is much if any evidence to suggest that Noel Gallagher is an intellectual. The man is on record as saying he doesn't read. That doesn't make him bad or without talent.

Incredibly ironic that they're talking about whether Liam would save Noel if he was getting his head kicked in, as it did happen. Love this interview.

when parky tells noel of how he was scared of his father and how he was beaten, you can see the noels face change as he remembers it.

fuking hell is there a wiser man left in this current shitty music industry

As far as I care, this is a fact: There are extremely few people in the music industry that can even hold a candle to noel intellectually.
SeanCarols00 2 years ago 76
u know wat, i never liked oasis and had a pretty bad impression of them. But ur so right in what u say. I've gotta hand it to him; he's the coolest, funniest down to earth and intelligent guy in the music industry, and beyind that.
HullSerb 2 years ago 16
@SeanCarols00 So why are his lyrics largely juvenile and meaningless and intellectually lazy, clumsy and famously inarticulate and why is he on record saying he finds lyrics really hard to write?
He's uneducted and admits he hardly reads any books. It's not his fault, it was his upbringing. Don't make out that he's some sort of intellectual, he clearly isn't, and this much is obvious.
He is, however, quite witty and sharp, and good fun and a talented songwriter of melodies.
THthefirst 1 year ago 2
@THthefirst because he likes those kind of lyrics stupid!
you don't have to have top education to be concidered 'intellectual'
Johnny Rotten is very bright, but he came from a council estate in North London.
so shut up you snobby twat!
skint0n0minted 1 year ago
@skint0n0minted If you have to resort to calling someone a twat, you have obviously lost the argument.
Where did I ever say that only wealthy people can be educated?
The point is, someone can be witty, good fun and bright etc but not be an intellectual. An intellectual is someone who loves art, reading, drama, academia etc. Noel Gallagher is not and never will be one of them, and he knows it, but who cares? He is what he is, a writer of some decent songs and he has talent.
THthefirst 1 year ago
@THthefirst obviously..... erm, is songwriting and creating music not a form of art, and songwriting it's self is reading your surroundings and writing about them. You think a intellectual is someone who likes reading, tv, art and that? hahaha wally!
an intellectual is someone who works with their mind and thinks a lot about things. someone who is intrested in art and reading is just an average person i know loads of people who like art and reading it don't mean they're intellectual.
skint0n0minted 1 year ago
@skint0n0minted Noel Gallagher is not an intellectual - it is ridiculous to even suggest this! He was one of the lead members of band that was the total opposite of intellectualism and which embraced drugs, lager, "having it" "being mad for it" etc etc and had anthems sung by millions of football fans. Noel admits he hardly reads and finds it hard to write lyrics and he is on record as being arrogant, rude etc. No way is he an intellectual. You must be taking the piss, right?
THthefirst 1 year ago
@THthefirst you just don't know what an inttulect is. would you Say Stephen Fry is? I would, and hes had a drug problem, been to prison, drunk a lot - those things make no difference you don't have to be a goody two shoes to be intellectual.
An intellectual is someone who uses there mind a lot e.g creative people, writers, teachers, philosiphers.
skint0n0minted 1 year ago
@THthefirst you are aware the term 'having it' means go for what you want in life?
and since when has any rock n roll band ever had an intellectual style? thats silly!
hes not rude, he can be arogant sometimes, not overlly arogant like liam was. its just that hes honest - and most people say what they think you want to hear, we live in a very fake era.

@THthefirst its people like you who put down people who love rock and roll and think only opera and people who read those old books are intelects what makes mozart any better then the beatles, opinion. i hate these snobs who think rock and roll is dumb and classical music is so much more sophistucated and makes you a smarter person coz it dosnt
abbielovesoasis 1 year ago
@abbielovesoasis er, no, just don't think thre is much if any evidence to suggest that Noel Gallagher is an intellectual. The man is on record as saying he doesn't read. That doesn't make him bad or without talent.
THthefirst 1 year ago
@THthefirst john lennon did all of thos things and he was incredibly inteligent and an intel
