  • I hate debates about abortions. Scientifically if it cannot breath outside the womb it isn't a child. It's still a child at conception scream people at the other end. Who cares it's the woman's right to choose. When abortion was illegal women died because of illegal abortions, end of story. I don't agree with third trimester abortions unless they are due to medical reasons but I still think a woman has the right to choose. Seriously people are we this primitive to still fight this?

  • As a pro-choice advocate I must say to all..How pro-choice is it if we force all Americans to fund abortions despite moral objections? What hypocrisy!!!

We can't have it both ways! The Democrats are lying in order to gain votes to push thru the unpopular Health Care Reform. And that's all there is to it. Don't buy it. Read the actual Stupak-Pitts amendment & don't rely on these ridiculous videos that threaten us with the dreaded "coathanger". Puh Leeze! Its old & so boring.

  • What an outrageous LIE! Stupak Amendment does NOTHING to overturn Roe vs Wade. It only prevent tax dollars from funding abortions. PERIOD! It does NOT make it more difficult to obtain safe abortions. As a pro-choice advocate I am appalled at the propaganda used to sway beliefs that we will be forced to revert to "back alley" abortions or worse the "coathanger". This is a fucking lie!

Stupak was introduced within the Public Option of Health Care Reform prohibiting tax dollars to fund abortions.

  • Unborn babies aren't sacred creatures, they're human beings like the rest of us. They're just as obligated to obtain their mother's consent as their fathers were before them. Without that consent, an unwanted pregnancy is a violation of a woman's person, same as rape, and access to abortion is as much a right as police protection. To deny women this is to leave them defenseless- essentially reproductive slaves. The law must apply equally to everyone or it's unconstitutional, simple as that.

  • @Piscivorus. no one forced the baby in her. it one thing if the baby is from rape or incest or if health corcerns are an issue but women should not be able to have convienent abortion. i mean women choices is killing marriages. a wife can say im aborting this baby and the husband cant do nothing to stop it. its not fair. the father should be able to save the life b/c if he dont want but she have it he gotta pay child support. (which is his duty). we must be fair.

  • Wish Lee's mother would have aborted her

  • @Nightrunner529

    ...spoken like a real pro-lifer.

  • People of America lost faith in their law makers already. Revolution is in order.

  • Did you know that Black Americans abort their children at a rate much higher than than any other race? Each year approx 1.5 MILLION innocent lives are killed via ABORTION and 40% of them are Black Americans. If you replace the word 'ABORTION' with 'PARKING TICKET' someone would be screaming RACIST. The reason why Black Americans do this is because it has been 'Sold' to them. Slavery is alive and well in America. No longer do we sell lives we sell Deaths. This is a much worse slavery, Abortion.

  • Yeah, focring women to carry to term and use their bodies as incubators isn't like slavery at all.

  • Forcing people to be parentally responsible for their fetal children isn't anymore slavery than enforcing child abandonment laws after they are born. You need to try a different argument because you're not making any sense here.

  • carry what?

  • "I was raised in the Catholic Church" she said it, not me. Look in the mirror.

  • ROFL this is silly. Ok first of all it doesn't "force" anyone into not having an abortion. All they have to do is use a little extra money to go get one with other money. It's not necessary healthcare so why should it be paid for with public money -anymore than say liposuctions or sex change operations?

And since when does telling human scum they can't kill their own children necessarily based on a religious view? ROTFLMAO!

    This woman is a douche.

  • It is necessary health care bc there are women who NEED abortions due to complications with the fetus or the mother that are LIFE THREATENING and an abortion sometimes is the only way to save a mother's life.

  • Tell me HONESTLY what percentage of abortions are due to that? Please. Don't hide behind the >>1%. Besides in the rare case where that is the case they can just pay for it themselves they don't HAVE to use government money to pay for it. No one is telling them they can't. It would be just like it is now.

  • The thing is :no one wants or expects the gov. to pay for them regardless of the %'s of cases like that- if they kept that part of the bill the way it was there wouldn't be a prob. No one expects the gov. to pay for something like that we never did- we just wanted the right to CHOOSE to have one or not- and not be told what we can and cannot do to our own bodies preg. or not- and to answer your question it is like 3 in ever 15 women NOW which is an estimation.

  • Women never said we HAD to pay for abortions with gov. money- we never wanted the gov to pay for them. We just wanted to have the RIGHT TO DO IT if we so choose to or NEED to. Whether its 1%, less than that or more than that - clearly abortions are an option for more than just an unwanted preg. Pro lifers never wanted or expected gov. dollars to go for abortions. Most women who get them pay themselves anyway for privacy reasons as well as LACK of gov. support.

  • As it is "now", 85% of PRIVATE insurance plans cover abortion. This is what the Stupak amendment would ban, using their OWN money to buy an insurance plan to cover the procedure. Many women without insurance can barely afford the procedure and consequently have to have it at a later date.

  • What! Its more expensive to have an abortion at a later date than sooner- and pro choice supporters do not want gov money to pay for abortions- as they stated already ... no one is trying to 'enslave ' anybody obama said it CLEARLY NO FED. FUNDING FOR ABORTIONS- we just want the right ( as women) to CHOOSE if we abort or carry to term.. got nothing to do with 'slavery' and last I checked more NON blacks were having abortions than blacks- its not a racial thing its a CHOICE thing...

  • True, what I meant was that a number of women (I heard this firsthand from someone I know who works at a clinic with helping women pay for the procedure) have to save up for the procedure and this takes time, they have the higher amount at a later date.

True about the gov funding. The Stupak amendment is outrageous due to that fact.

  • Well, I am a former BSN reg. nurse- and I have been to and seen and worked with plenty of ppl in clinics, patients and medical prof.'s I know myself as a woman that no gov. money has ever been used or requested to be used to pay for abortions. All the 'help'= grants are from private org's that donate into a stipend for women who need/want the procedure done.

  • The Stu- PID amendment is UNNECESSARY- bc the current gov. public option prevents that from happening so why would it need to be included in the one drawn up by the Obama Admin. we already know gov. funds are not allocated and will not be allocated to pay for the abortion.

  • No it bans public money from going to abortion not private money. All it says is that you can't get abortions on the public option.

  • you need to watch a movie called maafa21 you need to learn that our race is on the market as a slavery of another kind.

  • A movie is just that- A MOVIE- they are written and made for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES- unless it is BASED ON A TRUE STORY or otherwise is sharing a meaningful message- you really need to educate yourself traditionally and stop all the fear mongering and fairy tales - you are the 2nd person to tell me to watch a movie and base my views on a fictional piece of media that is for entertainment and recreational purposes- reality is what we live every day NOT in the theaters or on YOU TUBE- smh

  • THIS IS A DOCUMENTARY ON THE BLACK AMERICAN IN USA. Strong Black Women care about our brothers and sisters. Do at least a little research before you shoot down a suggestion.

  • Then perhaps YOU should have said DOCUMENTARY vs MOVIE- b 4 I take a 'suggestion' from another POSSIBLE CRACK POT and go blindly searching for a 'movie' someone suggests for me to watch DOESN'T MAKE ME A WEAK Black woman- it makes me SMART-

Strong BLACK MEN are SPECIFIC and give FULL DESCRIPTIONS of what the devil they want to SUGGEST- and not expect a Strong Black woman to READ THEIR MIND-

  • Check it out. It opened my eyes. MAAFA21

  • One of the finest legislators in America. Barbara Lee is a true role model. Many forget her courageous stand when she was the only House Member who voted AGAINST US waging war against Afghanistan following attacks of 9/11. Her father is military, she grew up in a military household, has incredible insight, and the kind of conscience you rarely see in politics. I would love her to switch to Senate, and take over Republican Senator Feinstein's role.

  • That comment makes it clear that either you really do not remember those dark days or you do not understand the horrifying results that those days created. Foolish, cold, and ignorant comparison.

  • I can't believe all of these bigoted anti-genocide extremists are trying to impose their religious views on Hitler. I mean it's his right to choose. Since when has genocide been condemned outside of a religious context? I can't believe it it's just absurd. And the AUDACITY to suggest that he shouldn't be allowed to use other people's money to gas gypsies and Jews. Some people, I tell you.

    ROTFLMAO!

  • BINGO!

  • Well hasn't someone run out of ideas and resorted to "copy + paste"

  • Copy and paste? Whatever ARE you talking about?

  • The argument isn't that abortion doesn't end life, the argument is that a woman should have the right to CHOOSE HERSELF - and all abortions are not simply bc the woman does not want to have the child- CLEARLY you are narrow minded and have NO sense of reality or what a democracy is and you also HAVE to be a man to make a statement like that.
