magpies are very intelligent birds and only swoop in breeding season 4-6 weeks a year or when they recognize a person who has hurt the bird in the past. i think their cool birds!

when i was three years old and my brother was 4, we got attacked by magpies near our house. my brother was hospitalized for a day with severe bleeding to the head and eye. he now has lost the majority of his sight in his left eye. then to make it worse the council wouldn't even move the bird, let alone kill it.

have you ever been swooped by a magpie mate?? i think not. at least not as brutally as this. lets keep this going but my word limit has run out. what do you have to say 4 youself?

i was just stating that there is a reason for my hate of these "cute little birds". they have drawn blood on me and i have never attacked them back. my dad hit the one that got my brother with a squash raquet... it was a good hit, but thats the only violence any of my family has ever shown... and i think that was fair enough! my brother can't even see properly... and that lead to being bullied at school because he had to wear an eye patch for much of it... and then glasses...

yeah, i know what ya mean. i was swooped by the same magpie for a few days walking to work, one day i decided to wait for it when it came down to search for food i hand fed him. he never attacked me again! every now and then i throw a lil food to him, everyone else gets swooped but it's cool with me. sorry about your brother, thats terrible!

i know they can be kind animals and i respect your decision to like them... but under my circumstances i do not... i would be able to get over it if that was just pne magpie... but when i ride they work in groups to get me, i figured out the tactic of riding no hands and squirting one with a drink bottle and swinging at the other with my pump, they dont come near me... but near my house there is a group of 8 that attack me, i beat cars along that road... mind you i am australian level lol.

lol... did you read above... i was riding today actually (funny that lol) and a magpie swooped me for about 400m straight without giving up, it hit me three times, on the shoulders and helmet... then another probably ten times where it missed.

the thing was crazy! lol... and the ironic thing was that i hadn't been swooped that day and about 10seconds before it happened i said to my mate how i was beginning to like magpies again!!!!!!!!!! LOLOLOLOL serves me right :P
