I miss Wobbies World. I wish it was still around but nooooooo it had to be sold to make room for more houses which is one thing Melbourne doesn't need :-( Now the only thing close to a theme park that Melbourne has is Luna Park :-(

I remember going there as a kid back in the 90's. I really enjoyed it when I was young, but I'm sure I wouldn't see it that way if I saw it now that I'm 19. It's a bit sad how little remains of it, we don't have many amusements like this anymore and it feels like the new generations are missing out somewhat.

Wobbies World was the smelly fat kid you didnt like, but went to their birthday party because it was polite. Looking back now, I still think it was shit, but my heart did sink a little when it closed. Our area needs more than just Ramsey st dammit!

Oh yeah cos one of the rides was a tram. But in Melbourne we travel on trams all the time, it's like "what"? The helicopter is also quite a bit like a tram, as are those fire engines. Very tram-like. Still, better than that dinosaur park in Ballarat.

Fond memories of it now, though! I remember that the minigolf course was pretty shyte; it was mainly without obstacles and the ground was fairly cracked and damaged. The plane was a makeshift cinema that stank and was totally decrepit indie (and out, as I remember). Even when I was little I laughed at the huge helicopter ride; it was an ancient relic that raised up and slowly turned around (couldn't say span, it was so slow). The propellor didn't even spin.

I used to live on Hawthorn rd nearby. Wobbie's World bordered Emmaus College and WW had a huge horse paddock behind it. My brother and I discovered a very poor fence at the rear of the theme park (behind an absolutely crappy hedge maze that you could both look over and squeeze through). Anyway, we used to sneak into Wobbie's World via the paddock whenever we wanted; the maze was far from everything else and nobody noticed. That said, we didn't really go there much - it really was that bad!

I remember during maths looking out the window and watching them test the new helicopter ride. It never worked properly even in test stage.

If you want to see the castle as it is today. Go to google maps, type in 475 Springvale road Nunawading , spin the camera around to look behind you. There it is the old wobbies castle. The place is the park nursery and pool centre.

I used to go to this place with my dad back around 1988 - 90. Back then it was starting to rust a bit and it was a bit dodgy in some areas. The bottom line is that I liked the place and I liked the wobbies wheels ATV ride, the bobcats, helicopter monorail and played alot of mini golf. I read that the castle entrance, the mini golf and the birthday room is still there and they have built the housing estate around them, which is cool.

C/Market has a few playgrounds but not sure about rides. The helicopter monorail was pretty dodgy. At every corner you felt like the carriage was going to keep going straight and fall off :(
