I was actually at this recording. I was stood just behind the two keyboard players. Goldfrapp had to run through all their songs twice (as did Corrine Bailey Ray and everyone else that week) and I can tell you she wasn't miming. Maybe a bit of vocal manipulation but not just lip-syncing.

Love Goldfrapp! but just FYI--Goldfrapp is a DUO, not a band. She only has a band when performing live or on a show. Her main collaborator (and he plays just about everything on their CDs) is Will Gregory.

Is it not more that she has two vocal tracks being routed from her microphone, one being processed and the other her normal singing, which is making it sound so perfect? I thought Jools Holland always had 100% live performances.

If you listen close you can hear her breaths before she sings. Some artists just have an unbelievable ability to sing when they play around with vocal tracks. Lead singer of Skinny Puppy, Goldfrapp, etc. It is 100% live, i've worked alongside many concerts, trust me.

it's probably just a distortion effect on the mic. watch "lovely head" live.. she has an incredible voice.. and they often use distortion mics for effect
