I'm planning on getting a Dachshund puppy this summer--REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!! :)

How many of them will be alive in 2 years? People buy a puppy for their kid because the kid begs non stop. Then when the novelty wears off, the dogs get dumped at a shelter and get the needle.

Don`t buy puppies, not from a "pet shop" or even an established breeder, it encourages more breeding. Adopt from a shelter and rescue somebody.
