I spend time with an elderly lady once or twice a week. We watch videos of Liberace together, such a joy to us both. She asks me again and again if he's still alive. I say, no, he passed on, but he's here with us now. How lucky we are. Oh yes, she says, how lucky we are!!!!
Wow he lied in a court of law on a law and in a law suit he brought forth. In his personal life he was a cruel mean selfish individual who used poor down & out men for sex and throw them in the gutter. Real nice guy.
You can't just assume that Liberace was a kindhearted man or whatever, and leave it at that... Im not saying that he was bad, im just saying that you have to look at both sides of the coin. Off course ppl who knew him are going to leave out the "bad things" everybody knows that.
Listen. Liberace made the comment, "You can't place a price on a person's reputation." It proves he cared about his reputation and obviously had good morals. I love the part starting at 4:35 where he announces that he is suing and I'm glad he won!
Liberace also did live a rather interesting lifestyle, the gay thing aside. His longtime partner, chauffeur, lover etc. Scott Thorson was also in the witness protection program for being a key witness in the Wonderland Murder's that Porn King John Holmes was involved in.
Cassandra is an evil jealous menace. Nothing changed the fame Liberace aquired. He was the best of the best. Casandra's horns and red sharp tail did nothing to change Liberace's popularity.
@eutuve - the ability to perceive irony is dying these days, which is odd because, given the tendency of young people to use 'like' as every second word in their sentences, you would think distance and hyperbole would be understood.
A persons life is their businness. Nobody has the right to pass judgment. Liberace was brilliant showman who brought so much happiness to millons. After he was made they broke the mould.
I find Liberace's music joyous and fun...my point would be that while it is true that "a persons life is their own business" how they live has a consequence. One cannot create incriminating information from vapor. Liberace was a homosexual and during this trial he lied, and then lived in such promiscuity that he like so many others left us before they should have. It is true that HIV/AIDS was new to his generation ..its impact is always final-Promiscuity leads to a shortened life.
That shows just how much you know. There are now effective treatments - antiretroviral drugs - for HIV-positive people which would have saved the life of Liberace and many, many others if they had been available twenty and more years ago. Also, you don't need to be promiscuous - or gay - to become infected. It can take just one encounter.
If promiscuity leads to a shortened life, Frank Sinatra would have died at 42, not 82. Having said that... the similar framework of celebrity exists today; only the way celebs handle these rumors- which are often true- has changed. A big star needs a big audience, and among a big audience will be ordinary people with ordinary prejudices. In the USA, we have not one single openly gay A-list actor, although we know who they are, as many surely knew about Liberace.
He sues for libel (where, as in any defamation action, truth is an absolute defense)over being accused of being a homosexual and wins each time. Then, he ultimately dies of AIDS. Kind of ironic to say the least.
He made great music and was an entertainer just like Rock Hudson. My name is Jeff Fisher and this court case that I will post some of on you tube is what has the entire Bush Administration freaking out for its all about absolute truth.
What vile things to say about another human being. This Connor person sounds like a sad closet homosexual to me. To attack a person like he did Lee is just shameful. It would have to be damaging to the psyche of a person to have to deny their true identity and self their whole life. I admire Lee for clallenging Connor on his comments eventho it cost him dearly. Rest in peace Lee you lovely man.

Thank you for posting what you did. Regardless of how the man passed, no one should be attacked for the way they choose to live their lives. The BBC columnist who wrote what he did back in the day wanted attention in my opinion, as did the coroner in CA who insisted the mans remains be returned so HE could conduct an autopsy just to get HIS five minutes of fame by saying LEE passed from AIDS, which in actuality he was HIV positive which is not the same. LIBERACE brought much joy to many RIP
dinoNparis, I too see that coroners conduct as an opportunity to get public attention. I did a google search and learned that Lee was a heavy smoker in his private life. He had heart problems and breathing problems. One article said he died of cytomegalovirus pneumonia resulting from AIDS. We'll never what really killed Lee, all we have is what was released by that coroner. I prefer to focus on Lee's personality, talent and the joy he brought to many while he was here.
I think it's sad that he had to lie about his sexual orientation in court. Those times where brutal! >:o

But why stand up in court and deny the very thing you believe in.
