Some of those conspiracy stories just don't match each other. If there is back-engineering of UFOs there is no shared knowledge with aliens or at most a very superficial contact with them. If there is any alien activity in this case, it would rather not be in the US restricted areas but anywhere else in the world. In case of a nuclear war the alien sites would have been wiped off the map which is not logical for aliens to risk.

I think the US has already camouflaged its own objects against satellite spying from other great powers. If the Russians would fly over with a satellite there would be no US brushing their images out, that's why I think that they use camouflage or deception rather than the airbrush.
