I'm assuming it was the Amsterdam performance of Glass's most recent opera, "Waiting for the Barbarians", based on John Coetzee's book of the same name. I was hoping to find some scenes of the opera to help me decide whether to see it this weekend in Austin.
saw it last night! it was great! the music was fantastic, the performance great, the libretto a little flat, but in glass tradition, minimal to further the most humane of points-- that we should care for our fellow man and not allow politics to make barbarians of us all...end the war! stop torturing!!!
You can hope it isn't like "The Juniper Tree". It's 25 years for the CD!

Music by Philip Glass, libretto by Christopher Hampton. It's a great opera, but don't expect to leave feeling uplifted!
