I once roadied for Saxon and one of the flight cases I unloaded I was told to put in the dressing room. When it was opened Isaw it contained the bands personal tea urn and 4 large blue and white striped tea mugs all set in shaped foam.Rock n Roll man!
The producers sent the Reeves and Mortimer scripts to Noddy holder before they recorded this - they were worried in case there might be litigation or something. Actually, Noddy is said to have thought it hysterically funny and gave them lots of ideas, so there is much more reality in these sketches than people might realise ;-)
Cup a soup is a disgusting powdered soup that you add boiling water to. It's just funny that Reeves and Mortimer's Slade drink it for every meal and consider it a tasty meal. It also fits in with cheap and tacky 70s Britain. We don't really drink Ice Tea over here.
I'm sorry, it's all good fun really. You might like this, my Dad is from Wrexham and he was friends with Andy Scott's sister back in the 70s! She told him what a hard time he had going into pubs in his hometown with all the make up on.
Yep I did, I wish I had such skills! Don't worry I didn't think you were digging. I think the 70s styles can be summed up as cheap and cheerful rather than tacky. Nobody had the money to be really well dressed but a bit of glitter and glam took the edge off all that 3-day-week business!
i wish 3 day weeks existed now...i'd choose tuesday, thursday and friday...and then have my weekend....but i try and keep the glitter alive as i walk down the streets.
Is the bend even?
