  • Bula Mr. Gillies...

Any information on Rev. Joseph Nettleton can be obtained from the Methodist Church Archieves in Davuilevu , Fiji. Rev. Nettleton was one of the ealierst pioneers of Seminary after its relocation from Richmond, Kadavu in the late 1800's. You absolutely right about the fact that he was part of the translation of the Fijian Bible from English to Fijian under Rev. Hunt on the Island of Viwa, Bau. Drop me a line if ou still have questions...

    Vinaka Vakalevu..

  • Subject: Reverend Joseph Nettleton (1835-1914)

Hello, I represent Christ Church United Free Church,Feltham,England. 2009 is our centenary.

The first Minister of this church was Rev. Joseph Nettleton, who was a missionary in Fiji between 1860 and 1873.

He took part in preparing the first Bible for the Fijians, and in old age translated for them The Pilgrims Progress.

We would welcome any information you may have about Rev. Nettletons life.

    Yours sincerely,

    Thomas Gillies
