I was glad to find "The Secret History: Howard Hughes, Bizarre Billionaire," - 5. He was a brilliant and gravely misunderstood/misdiagnosed man who contributed so much. Yes, he had money, but he didn't 'care' about money really - he was just glad to be able to use it to fulfill his visions & dreams; aviation, movies, writing and directing, and so forth. The way he passed, 6 ft 2 inches tall & weighting a mere 92 lbs is unimaginable. My heart goes out to Mr. Hughes.

Hughes was a great man, no question. The early 20th century was truly an age for entrepreneurs and innovative people, just as the 21st century is an age for innovation in taking civilization backwards.

He pushed everyone in his life away. Even his very close friend Cary Grant could only speak to him by phone in 1970. The way Katharine Hpeburn describes him in her memoirs is quite touching. An extraordinary man.
