Had the same issue, after a lot of research, and tried several fixes, I found this real and the only solution, switch the PS3 display setting to use 1080i (remove the 1080p option), now for some people upgrading the firmware of the TV or changing the motherboard of the TV/PS3 worked as well, but also found several folks that still had the problem after that, many of them returned the PS3 to the store and got a new one, same thing, so if you are still having this issue after that, try this.
hey im going to buy a new monitor ????? and im going to connect it to the ps3 ? wat the hell do i need ?? and wat should the monitor be ? HDMI OR WAT ? i know nothing about this just tell me wat to buy and il go buy it ? thxx
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
You must buy an HDMI 1.3 Cable. The PS3 and the Samsung M8 have an HDMI 1.3 Port. With an HDMI 1.1 or 1.2 you got only problems.Lokk in the Samsung book for your Sammy and there will be the answer. He got problems with HDMI 1.2 or older.
Wow, someone else is (was) suffering from this too! I got a PS3 + Sony hdmi + Samsung f86 46", and the two hdmi ports in the backside of Samsung have this same blinking. The third hdmi on the side works properly. WTF! I'll try another cable brand then, but why the hell does this happen with these Samsung models? I thought a Sony cable would be reliable...
Well my tv is the m87 but i had a similar prob with flashing when a 1.3 cable was put in either of the back hdmi ports. The side one was fine however, i think u can just use a 1.1 or 1.2 hdmi cable instead in the back of the set u wont notice any difference. It doesnt really bother me as all my hdmi ports are used up so something had to be connected on the side, u cant see it when its connected anyway
That's a good theory. I'm 90% sure that the back hdmi ports are somehow "demanding" and require a higher quality or certain hdmi version cable. I tried with a hdmi-dvi cable and there was no flicker.Yeah, using the side port isn't so bad since it's not very visible.
With my experince it must be a bug in the TV that can be removed if you update your Samsung M86 firmware or if you go to the reseller and say that your TVs software have critical bugs and then if you still have your warranty you should easly get a new one!
The problem mostly apperas in new TVs, those who have the oldest firmware.
I hope your problem will be fixed and I wish you a nice 2008 and life! ¦)
sk8kid i dont know WHERE THE FUCK you got that info from but PHILIPS is dutch moron SONY is working together with samsung not philips you moron philips make great tv's so go back home and do your homework first and MAYBE you can post a comment again. -_-' geez where people get crappy info from xD.
I have a question that I hope any of you can answer for me. I have a 56" Samsung 1080p HD DLP television. I also own a Playstation 3. When I use a HDMI cable, I can't get a picture, even when I try to change the settings to HDMI it just won't work. However when I use a Componenet D cable I can get a picture and it accepts the 1080p output on my PS3 settings. The question I have is how come my PS3 won't accept my HDMI cables?
I can see you have great taste in HD televisions! Samsung's HD 1080p DLP television kicks total ass! Anyway, I use a Monster HDMI cable. Which HDMI cable you use for your HD tv? Which do you recommend? I glad somebody FINALLY will answer this for me!
Poisonsting22, why don't you just get wireless internet from your internet provider. Once you get wireless internet service, all you have to do is type in the modem seriel number on the box in the settings section on the PS3, push enter and then you can play online without the need of a ethernet cable coming from the ps3. This is what I use. (I use my Gateway computer just when I surf the bet).
you kno wat you right dude BUT WIRELESS SUCKS my room is soooo far away from the computer downstairs. And wired internet are way faster from wat i heard
i have a 52" PHILLIPS 1080p HDTV AND A $20 HDMI CABLE AND I HAD THE BLINKING problems all you have to do is unplug the hdmi cable wait a few seconds (5seconds) then plug it back in and it workeeeeddddddddddddddd
well i have a ps3 running on a 20dollar hdmi cable works hella good no problems at all, where all this stuff come around of having to buy a 50 dollar cable or more.
what are the best settings for ps3 on this tv?

Is it a bug? Is it removed in the 2.10 firmware?
SweTego 4 years ago
I'm quite sure this is not the PS3's fault but has more to do with the Samsung's hdmi ports, they must be very picky about cable quality.
