Looks like when you downshifted you just pulled the clutch quickly and went down a gear, no "blip" on the throttle? I've been trying to learn to shift down while moving and the bike keeps jerking when i do it this way. (without blipping the throttle as i downshift
the track is too crowded, and also you have to put the braking point lately on the R3 and R6(approx. near the marshall tower), be careful on the last positive corner(R11) its little bit slippery surface, maintain a good throttle control. keep focusing your eyes on the inside of the corner on R4. good luck
Yes crowded, and too many different level of bikers. This was my first time at the track, I had not memorized the race line so aside from pickin' my way thru bike, I was all over the track. But at 59 years old, I had fun. I'd love to go back again, if I can ever figure out when the track is open.
@eaglesrockbooya MSF is about safety, I took the course too. But you can up-shift without the pulling in the clutch by just backing off on the throttle for a split second. It's the same principal as a quick shifter, but with a quick shifter you just bang the next gear without backing off. Some new bikes come with the quick shifter, so it's safe for the bike.
@Speeder600 Ask anybody who repairs the engines and transmissions of these bikes and they'll tell you that shifting without the clutch wears things out much faster than doing it the right way.
@dgevert Yes, I've shifted cars and trucks without using the clutch. Up shift and down shift although down shifting takes more timing to get the RPMs just right. And hopefully your synchroizers are in good condition.
I agree that shifting motorcyles without the clutch could wear things out faster, especially if you goof the shift timing and/or don't un-load the pressure off the gears. But when done right, the shift feels so smooth, I can't believe you are hurting the gears.
@ryazbeck, You're right, no need to up-shift with clutch. I have up-shifted without clutching from time to time. But to tell you why I was clutching up, I don't know. I used to race a Honda F3 CBR600 about 9 years ago for fun. The Ninja 250R is just a slow relaxing ride compared to the Honda. But I'm also an old fart (59), I was just having fun. Next time I won't clutch up. :)
That track looks very crowded :) I went to a very busy session in the middle of summer on a public holiday and even then we had 10-15 bikes in the slow group :)
I just bought my sixth bike which is a GPX 250 - early ninja 250 - can't wait to take it to the track when I get a new engine (Old engine just spun a bearing at 100,000km).
@extermin8tor Are you living in Indonesia? This was a Ninja only track day with over 100 Ninjas wanting to ride. Track organizers had a hard time controlling how many bikes entered the track at one time. They did not separate different skill levels. I might have been able to ride faster with only riders of my skill level. Hope you get your bike running again, Later, Bule Gila

@NinjaRider777R That's true. But it IS faster if you are racing (to shift without the clutch).

@Speeder600 sounds like the same thing you can do with a car if you get your timing right.

@eaglesrockbooya You will unlearn a lot of bad habits the MSF teaches at your first track day.

Very nice, man. Nice quality, as well. What camera you use?

@israellupine , GoPro Hero HD, helmet mounted.

Why do you use the clutch to shift up? I know you don't need to on a ninja 250r, as I've raced one.
