@McJohnsonstein I find you to be very un informed about the situation. 1 A 5.56 round might be a small round but but it has Giant expansion to the round. And it also has wonderful aerodynamics to it. 2 A "7.62 kalashnikov" I have never heard of that. now a 7.62 is one of many rounds such as (762x 54r 762x39) just to name two of like 5. A kalashnikov dont know what that would be a man named that made many firearms so.... I have no idea which one your talking. So please 1stop.2think.3look it up.
@McJohnsonstein Then...why did the military phase it out? I'll tell you why. The military had that made thinking combat was still with the lone marksman from hundreds of yards away garbage. The truth was far different. The thing is uncontrollable in full auto, you expend ammo too quick, and can't carry much. The 5.56 travels at a click a second, and does IMMENSE wound damage. The stories about the jamming in Vietnam were not the rifles fault. Look up the history on the weapon.
@m14Lover308 storming in a house (vertical fore grip) and perhaps being a squads designated marksman/sharpshooter (bipod) you see m-14s with crazy mods these days and long may it continue.
Letting it rest on the sandbag may have produced better results? Bipod + heavy recoil + plywood = dancing on ice. Question you kenny - would have preferred this to an m-16?
@sonnytenedo the original m-14s could go full auto mate - Nam is a good example, its just soldiers were told to use it semi-auto only due to uncontrollable recoil for the majority and ammo wastage of heavy 7.62 rounds. you can carry a lot more 5.56 cant you...
@robwtsn106 Full auto weapons with a high rate of fire often have an open bolt in condition 1. This is primarily to eliminate the danger of a round "cooking off" if held in the chamber of a smoking hot barrel. Your accuracy suffers a bit since the movement of the bolt is likely to move your point of aim slightly, but that isn't a concern with weapons that are intended to engage areas rather than points.
HAHAHAHAH . BANG "what happened?" LMAO. just goes to show that just cause your in the military that you know about weapons. Train train train. thats how you know "what happened" LMAO. God im glad i was a Marine where they taught some common sense when it came to weapons.
@DrCrazies101 The AK-74 is head and shoulders a better weapon than the old 47s. Hardly anyone even uses real AK47s anymore, they're almost all AKMs. Secondly, the AK10x rifles are not military rifles. They were designed solely for export/sale NOT MILITARY. The only one employed by military service are the 105s which are a shortened carbine length in 5.45mm. The 102 is chambered for 5.56mm and the 104 7.62mm. The 103 is also 7.62mm and is employed by russian police. the 101 is 5.56mm
@FullTiIt thanks :P but when I said 102 you could instantly put all the other 10's into a category because they are the newer and they all were buitl quite recently.
@DrCrazies101 The point is that the AK variants chambered for 5.45X39mm are MuchMuch better weapons than the original AK47. Also the AK47 was superseded by the AKM fairly quickly in terms of how often military arms are replaced. About 90% of the AKs you see on the news or in videos from the middle east or africa or in CoD are actually AKMs, not the original AK47
@FullTiIt Technically, the AK-47 is a name the Soviets gave for a prototype that was never mass produced. When the rifle finally went into production, the Soviets simply called it "AK". You can read a Russian manual and it won't say "AK-47" on it, but just "AK". Cost was really biggest reason why they replaced the AK with the AKM. They perfected the stamping technology with the AKM and were able to make a cheaper rifle, that was lighter and had slightly better fully auto performance.
@FullTiIt The AKM is really almost the same rifle as the AK is. It just a stamped receiver, lighter, compensator, and slightly lower rate of fire because of the hammer release delay device. Some Spetsnaz soldiers can be seen carrying AKM's in Cheneya so it must have some advantage over the AK-74.
@esh325 They still carry AKMs because Russia doesn't have the funds to fully equip everyone. 90% of the things that are standard issue on paper, have in reality only been issued to a handful of soldiers. Also, they don't believe in throwing things away, especially if they still work. Therefore the continued service of the AKM. It also rounds out the fire team to have the mix of weapons (majority being AK74Ms) The AK74 is superior as an assault rifle same way the M16 is > than M14 as one.
@FullTiIt I find It's been 36 years since the AK-74 has been adopted and still not every frontline soldier has an AK-74 or AK-74M? I find that hard to believe. Do you really think Russia can't afford to give their Spetsnaz what ever they want? Spetsnaz could get AK-74's or anything if they wanted, but in some cases, they choose AKM's over AK-74's. I've seen a few pictures of them with AKM's.
@esh325 Think about this. The VDV is the most well funded and best equipped branch of the Russian military, and yet even they haven't been completely equipped with what's standard issue on paper.
Some Spetsnaz may choose the AKM for the reason I already stated, of having the ranging weapons rounding out the fire team, as apposed to having the entire platoon carrying AK74Ms and a PKM
@FullTiIt Well, I've never VDV armed with anything other then AK-74's. If Spetsnaz is using an AKM, they are using it by choice. An AKM cannot equal a PKM, not even a little bit.
Some Spetsnaz may choose the AKM for the reason I already stated, of having the ranging weapons rounding out the fire team, as apposed to having the entire platoon carrying just AK74Ms and a PKM
Kenny, what branch are you in? Also, how do I get assigned the M14 if I was to enlist as 11x (and become an 11b) in the Army? Score expert on marksmanship? Max out the PFT? Who assigns weapons anyways, the Squad/Platoon leader? Was just curious, I'm pretty sure I'll get an M4 with M68 or ACOG, maybe M249 for being the new guy. Sucks. IThanks in advance.
It strikes me that the effective range and penetration power of the M14 is superior to M16.
M14 would be particularly better suited to desert warfare, in the bald open topography of Central Asia, or in 3 dimensional fire fights from city high rises down to street level.
This particular performance did not look overly promising. Recoil looked high, though obviously practice and a proper rifle pit would help establish a Fire Lane with that weapon.
i have talked to all my family members that have served in all American (alive of course) and even the ones that served in nam said they never had an m16 or car 15(xm177e2) jam up on them, they took care of they're rifles, they also were in water and mud alot and they still functioned properly even on full auto, now i have a few ar variants and ive taken them ever where i have never had a problem with them jamming i own a bushmaster carbon 15 and two bushmaster magpul ar 15s they are amazing
@McJohnsonstein all these dumb rednecks and kids on her thinkin the ak47 is the best rifle in the world makes me sick, they're poorly machined, ugly, inaccurate, slow, and evil, what are your thoughts on the m110?
@wolf762able it's not the best and not the most accurate, but it always works (well 99.999995% of the time) and needs only limited maintenance. 3 guys with an ak to get the heads down and one with a m1a1 to pick 'm off =)
@foxfire1112 I was talking about the AK47 not the M14. And yes I did shoot the ak47 and 74 and VZ58 (still have one, see my channel) and the M14, garand .30m1, FAL, MAG(m240) MG3, UZI and a shit load of other weapons. I do not pretend I know it all but I know enough to be 'dangerous'.
@McJohnsonstein yeah i guess thatd probably be better in some situations, im just saying ive never had an m16 jam up, malfunction, or not have enough knock down power, for longer ranges yes the Mk.14s would be better or an m110 i think thatd be better than a mk.14, anyway my point being the m16/m4 is amazing and great in almost any situation, ak47 are extremely inaccurate so you wouldn't have to worry about long range much any way
Iraq? M16. Afghanistan? M14. The M14's round is the size of the AK's with the Velocity of the M16's, and is accurate to almost 900 yards with optic. I love the M14. SEMI AUTO FTW!
@McJohnsonstein that could work, but id want all the guys in my platoon to have the same weapon or same ammo, the m249 saw uses 556 and can use the same magazines as an m16 so if every guy in the platoon has either a m16/m4 or an m249 there is not gonna be any worries of ammo depletion, it would also be easier to get resupplied with 556, the m14 would probably better in Afghanistan since there is more long range engagements, in my opinion m16 i swear buy it
The only thing I see the m4/m16 is good for is a head stone and a place to put a soldiers helmet.... reads sorry mom dad I won't be coming home for Christmas because UNCLE SAM supplied me with a dog shit m4 / m16 and now I'm dead
you guys are all pussies. the facts are that the m14 has over twice the power of the m4 and m16. That being said it is also bigger and heavier. In most of todays combat you dont need all that power because the fighting tends to be closer up. Thats where the m4 comes into play. Its small, powerful for its size, and can fill a variety of different roles. Each gun has its own use and it depends on he user too about what they prefer. Also the m14 is only 6 years older than the m16...
I see all of these people bitching about what they would rather have in a combat situation, the M16 or M14. I'm going to say this, you join the army now and if you can't shoot well past 300m you'll get an M4 if you can shoot 500+m with your Sweet16 you might get unlucky and get out dated shit like the M14 that's wayyyy too heavy and unergonomic as your M16. Just remember this, if your damn M14 was so goddamn good it would've been used as long as the M16. Just saying.
@USAApproved Good points. But while the M14 is heavier and not as compact, it shoots the .308 round. And if you're out past around 300 yards, its much more effective. An enemy hit at 300 plus yards with the 5.56 may get back up. If they get hit with the 7.62 they most likely arent going anywhere. In my opinion they need to just update the M14 and make it more compact and combat friendly. But M16's and M14"s are super fun guns to shoot.
@McJohnsonstein ok dick face m16s dont jam up on you if you take care of them and clean them go get shot by a 556 round and see what happens to you, you obviously dont know to much about firearms go get educated and debate with me then, and if m16s are so bad why has the U.S used them since the 60's and how come we kick ass with them and why do guys with ak's die all the time?
@McJohnsonstein Why cant you just realize every gun has its flaws? That m14 kicks like a mule and is too heavy and big for close quarters. True the m14 is more durable etc, but the m16 can be used to perform in ways the m14 cant. Be glad we have these 2 amazing guns.
@dublehlx Yep was for me too. Well the M1Garand was than I researched the M14 and ended up getting myself a M1A the civi version semi auto only. I've yet to take it out to the range but from what I hear of locals they are shooting out to 1,000 yards with them using match ammo hitting steel targets. What I hear from friends in the sandbox is that the M14's are able to handle the desert environment better than the M16's. Also that the .308 caliber round has performed well for them.
Its taking freedoms away.. picking away at what we can and cant use. Bayonets dont do anything today like you said, so why ban them? Why take the time to do that.. It's really annoying at how they just keep taking things away.
@Shady4782 what time in the recent future do we see ourselves using bayonets? nowadays, we cant see who were shooting at. i dont think they banned it cuz it was scary rather than just unnecessary.
M14 EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle) is the correct definition for this weapon with upgrades like a lighter and more compact aluminum-based design, telescopic rails and a collapsible stock with an adjustable cheekrest, same basic weapon system as the M14 but a greatly different outer design.
The 1994 Federal Assault Weapons ban banned semi auto rifles that had certain features. A bayonet lug was a banned feature so Springfield removed it from the M1A. The ban expired in 2004 but Springfield did not put the lug back on the rifles.
I don't understand why people compare this gun to other rifles. They all have a special purpose. True, they are all battle rifles, but you can't compare apples to oranges to bananas. Each was designed for a specific job.
When, and if i join the army. (just had knee surgery, so im on the fence) i will not use a piece of shit M16A2 or an M4A1 Carbine. I will use an M14 definantly. Bigger bullet, more stopping power, farther range, better accuracy, and more reliability. An M1 almost got my grandfather killed because it jammed too regularly. Even with the new M16A4 the gun isn't too keen on reliability, the only thing its got going for it is accuracy and low recoil.
@UrT1meSlipsAway Well then in that case you ahd better be a DSM or a no shit sniper ! Otherwise YES you will cary an M16 or an M4. And if you take care of it like your trained to it will work everytime !
@UrT1meSlipsAway I've done multiple deployments and the M4 has never jammed on me once. It's perfectly good at killing people, and has a much faster recovery time than any 7.62 weapon. Essential property for CQB. I've dropped targets out to 400 yards and I promise you won't be engaging targets accurately farther than that unless you have a crew served weapon or a sniper system. Not in combat anyway.
Keep it lubed and you'll have no problems. Proper maintenance just like anything else.
@UrT1meSlipsAway By the way, hydrostatic shock has been proven wrong. This is why they don't teach hammer pairs anymore. Also, there is no such thing as "stopping power" or "knock down power." Them stopping is purely based on the target's ability to ignore the wound or not. As far as "knock down power" there are two reactions to pushing force; 1) it forces you back, or 2) it goes through you. This hollywood shit isn't real. When you kill a man they just crumple. They don't fly.
@vasilikosolov wed have lost way more troops if that were so. its completely useless in full automatic capability, many were permanently configued to ONLY fire in semi auto. Its less accurate than an M4/M16 also. the only advantage the M14 has over the M16/M4 is its stopping power. Everything else on the M14 is far inferior to the M4. with an M4, you can accurately fire an entire 30 round magazine on full auto and STILL be on target. with an M14, youl be off target by the 3rd round.
I love the EBR and not only the navy has it. As for AF SF. There are quite a few. From PJs to storm troopers they got a Job for em all. The marines well the got recon. And well about every marine is SF if you go by the literal term. They are the best at there job.
Why does the navy always have the good stuff? ... I mean, why cant the Army, Marines or Air Force have the M14 EBR? .... hey! anyone who knows this! Every Military Branch has a spec ops Team! Army: Rangers, Navy: Seals, Marines? and Air Force? Can someone tell me! I dont know what their Elite soldiers are!
I know that the Marines have a DMR, which is an enhanced M14. It stands for "Designated Marksmanship Rifle" and is used often by EOD and by gaurdian angles to cover Marines going past the range of normal covering fire.
@dante316a what? im confused about what you said. Are you saying they both shoot the same round? m-14 shoots 7.62x51 (7.62NATO) the ak-47 shoots 7.62x39.
@naedanger123 Do you have personal experience with the rifles you speak of? I hope not another Call of Duty know it all in the crowd already enough of them lurking around every corner of youtube.
I've actually seen one AK47 out perform 10 guys with AR-15 rifles. In both reliability (no malfunctions in the AK constant malfunctions in AR's) and also accuracy the AK had tighter groups through the day.
That said in optimum conditions and longer ranges AR/M16/M4 pattern rifles spank the AK.
@a2redneck I have both (well, an M1A and and AK clone) and the M1A/M14 is better in every way IMO. Sure the AK is smaller and cheaper to shoot, but it collects dust now that I have the M1A.
@Erkl1996 I would love to see them side by side will have to look for a video of that. H&K makes some amazing firearms not to mention expensive ones but appear to be well worth the money. Would have got one if it weren't for Californias shit firearms laws. Can't have G3's here it's on the ban list because of being a select fire weapon. We can get semi auto versions but they are sadly rare, expensive and butchered to fit the lib laws here. Welded low cap mags.... etc.
@a2redneck I own an AK47 and just picked up an M1A civi version of M14 need to go give it some range time but I have a feeling it will out perform my AK in accuracy and range and that both will be reliable in desert conditions.
Where I shoot so much damn sand gets inside the rifles it's insane and I've seen the AK47, 1911 and Beretta 92 so far hold up with 100% reliability in those conditions. I'll bet the M1A will too. Sadly my buddies AR jammed constantly out there.
@SoCalTactical NICE! Yeah, for me im not the kind of person thats says "that gun sucks" because what it all comes down to is the shooter. The gun is only as good as the shooter. With that being said, guns are tools and some tools are better than others. Also, there is different tools for different jobs. Ya know what i mean?
Btw, from a military standpoint what do ya think is better the 1911 or 92? ;)
@a2redneck Yeah having owned both a 1911 and a Beretta 92 I can understand why the military made the switch. You can hold twice as much ammunition in the 9mm, it's easier for people who are new to shooting to get used to using a 9mm versus a .45. The Beretta having double stack magazines has a wider grip. Both fit well in the hands and are equals in reliability. I like the safety better in Beretta and double action/single action/ decocker in Beretta is awesome it comes down to caliber preference
@ninnymuggins80 everytime time i comment on a gun video there is a asshole that says something like: play much call of duty? or: you know this from video games? I've been shooting snice i was 10 and i ain't no expert but i definitely know more about guns than the average joe. Let me ask you, have you ever shot a gun before? Have ever dissasembled a rifle and clean out the bore?
@a2redneck Duuuur? Yes Ive shot a gun before dumbshit. Have you ever actually touched an m14, m16 or Ak? Your name is redneck, so I guess sitting on your fat ass on the front porch shooting a 12 guage at coons and watching steven segal movies qualifies you as expert on all things weapon related huh
@a2redneck go into combat with an m14 once and an m16 once and tell me which one is better then.
the m14 ebr so-com, which is the one in the video is very very accurate very powerful but also very heavy with high recoil, the m16 is light weight, accurate, powerful, and deadly, both weapons are great but in reality the m16 would be the better weapon to have, maybe 2 guys in the platoon could have m14 ebrs as sniper rifles but m14 ebrs for evryone wouldnt do to well.
@wolf762able in reality, it all come down to the shooter. For everyone to use m-16 wouldn't do so well. The m-14 is MORE accurate and MORE deadly than the m-16 ever can be. The recoil ain't that bad on the m-14. Just because the m-14 is a pound or two heavier, you shouldn't dissmiss the rifle. Besides, today with synthetics and light weight metals im sure the M-14 can be lighted up enough for you. I never went into combat with these rifles but i've shot both of them plenty.
@a2redneck i have fired both of these rifles, both of them are extremely accurate and both extremely deadly, the thing is the m16 is about 7lbs and the m14 ebr is about 14lbs and weight is a big factor, and you can carry way more 556/223 ammo than 762/308, m16 is made up of polymer and an aircraft metal alloy, the m14 ebr is made up of polymer and some kind of metal alloy, my dad was in vietnam and all my cousins are in the army or marines right now and theyve all said m4/m16 over m14 any day
@wolf762able The ebr is around 10 pounds, and like i said if you make the m-14 lighter by useing the "aircraft metal alloy". Please don't say you can carry more ammo, because that is just a bunch of bs. Your carrying the ammo in magazines and its not like the 7.62NATO is so much bigger than the 5.56NATO.
@a2redneck yea you can definitely carry more ammo with the m16, m16/m4s use 30 round magazines, m14s use 20 round magazines, m14 mags are much bigger and weigh more, trust me i have heard from so many combat infantry men and they have all said you can carry WAY more 556/223 than 762/308 caliber ammo, i own two m4s and 1 m16, i have fired different m1as and m14 including the ebr and ill tell you id take an m16 over an old shitty m14 any day except in a long range engagement.
@wolf762able so you would take a m16 over an enhanced battle rifle? that was originally designed for our elite navy seals? yea you can carry more 556 cal. ammo but your going to have to pump more of that ammo into the person your shooting at. just voicing my opinion. oh yea im pretty sure the m14 ebr is more updated than a m16
@NUCRAZY7 navy seals use m4s and m14 ebrs, and you dont need to pump ammo when you can actually shoot straight, 2 shots is all i need, go ask some veterans what they think about the two weapons
@wolf762able dude your right all these kids on here are just ignorant. everyone just argues with things that they have heard in popular media like "m16's jam all the time" and "5.56 doesnt have any knock down power" and "blah blah blah" i was issued an m4 for 4 years and i can count on one hand how many malfunctions i had with it. most people havent seen someone shot with a 7.62 or a 5.56, i have and i can tell you neither got back up. anyone who has been to combat will take an m4 over m14.
@chris1234399 Not really, just some different stocks, handguards, and other aesthetics. The interior firing system is relatively similar with the exception of using some new materials.
@punchmaster123 The M14 was designed as a replacement for the M1918 Browning (BAR), and the M1 Garand Rifle. It was developed and finally brought to reality around 1957, if I am correct.
It uses 7.62x51mm rounds, .308 Winchester in the civillian world, and is in my opinion a highly effective tool in the right hands. Unfortunately, due to logistics complication, and cost, the US armed forces switched completely to lighter, cheaper 5.56x45 competitors (M16, M4, M249)
Not all AK's are created eaqual. Most countries, like Iseal, had modifed the AK so it shoots better than the regular AK 47, known as the Galil.
So saying that AK's are better is loaded, because you have to have an improved one.

Do you really think Russia can't afford to give their Spetsnaz what ever they want? Spetsnaz could get AK-74's or anything if they wanted, but in some cases, they choose AKM's over AK-74's. I've seen a few pictures of them with AKM's.
esh325 6 months ago
@esh325 Think about this. The VDV is the most well funded and best equipped branch of the Russian military, and yet even they haven't been completely equipped with what's standard issue on paper.
Some Spetsnaz may choose the AKM for the reason I already stated, of having the ranging weapons rounding out the fire team, as apposed to having the entire platoon carrying AK74Ms and a PKM
FullTiIt 6 months ago
@FullTiIt Well, I've never VDV armed with anything other then AK-74's. If Spetsnaz is using an AKM, they are using it by choice. An AKM cannot equal a PKM, not even a little bit.

@esh325 Way to not read what I just wrote.

KingP1NGaming 7 months ago
It strikes me that the effective range and penetration power of the M14 is superior to M16.
M14 would be particularly better suited to desert warfare, in the bald open topography of Central Asia, or in 3 dimensional fire fights from city high rises down to street level.
This particular performance did not look overly promising. Recoil looked high, though obviously practice and a proper rifle pit would help establish a Fire Lane with that weapon.

@McJohnsonstein all these dumb rednecks and kids on her thinkin the ak47 is the best rifle in the world makes me sick, they're poorly machined, ugly, inaccurate, slow, and evil, what are your thoughts on the m110?
wolf762able 7 months ago 2
@wolf762able it's not the best and not the most accurate, but it always works (well 99.999995% of the time) and needs only limited maintenance. 3 guys with an ak to get the heads down and one with a m1a1 to pick 'm off =)

@McJohnsonstein yeah i guess thatd probably be better in some situations, im just saying ive never had an m16 jam up, malfunction, or not have enough knock down power, for longer ranges yes the Mk.14s would be better or an m110 i think thatd be better than a mk.14, anyway my point being the m16/m4 is amazing and great in almost any situation, ak47 are extremely inaccurate so you wouldn't have to worry about long range much any way
wolf762able 7 months ago
Iraq? M16. Afghanistan? M14. The M14's round is the size of the AK's with the Velocity of the M16's, and is accurate to almost 900 yards with optic. I love the M14. SEMI AUTO FTW!
darthgarfield 7 months ago
@McJohnsonstein that could work, but id want all the guys in my platoon to have the same weapon or same ammo, the m249 saw uses 556 and can use the same magazines as an m16 so if every guy in the platoon has either a m16/m4 or an m249 there is not gonna be any worries of ammo depletion, it would also be easier to get resupplied with 556, the m14 would probably better in Afghanistan since there is more long range engagements, in my opinion m16 i swear buy it

robbase54 8 months ago
you guys are all pussies. the facts are that the m14 has over twice the power of the m4 and m16. Also the m14 is only 6 years older than the m16...
jmcboy1275 8 months ago
I see all of these people bitching about what they would rather have in a combat situation, the M16 or M14. I'm going to say this, you join the army now and if you can't shoot well past 300m you'll get an M4 if you can shoot 500+m with your Sweet16 you might get unlucky and get out dated shit like the M14 that's wayyyy too heavy and unergonomic as your M16. Just remember this, if your damn M14 was so goddamn good it would've been used as long as the M16. Just saying.
USAApproved 8 months ago
@USAApproved Good points. But while the M14 is heavier and not as compact, it shoots the .308 round. And if you're out past around 300 yards, its much more effective. An enemy hit at 300 plus yards with the 5.56 may get back up. If they get hit with the 7.62 they most likely arent going anywhere. In my opinion they need to just update the M14 and make it more compact and combat friendly. But M16's and M14"s are super fun guns to shoot.
austinproduction19 8 months ago
@McJohnsonstein ok dick face m16s dont jam up on you if you take care of them and clean them go get shot by a 556 round and see what happens to you, you obviously dont know to much about firearms go get educated and debate with me then, and if m16s are so bad why has the U.S used them since the 60's and how come we kick ass with them and why do guys with ak's die all the time?

@dublehlx Yep was for me too. Well the M1Garand was than I researched the M14 and ended up getting myself a M1A the civi version semi auto only. I've yet to take it out to the range but from what I hear of locals they are shooting out to 1,000 yards with them using match ammo hitting steel targets. What I hear from friends in the sandbox is that the M14's are able to handle the desert environment better than the M16's. Also that the .308 caliber round has performed well for them.

RaptorAirsoft 10 months ago
M14 EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle) is the correct definition for this weapon with upgrades like a lighter and more compact aluminum-based design, telescopic rails and a collapsible stock with an adjustable cheekrest, same basic weapon system as the M14 but a greatly different outer design.
porrsmurfen 10 months ago
Why don't the M1-A1 civilian versions of the M-14 come with a bayonet adaptor on them?
jeannebrookervin 10 months ago
@jeannebrookervin
The 1994 Federal Assault Weapons ban banned semi auto rifles that had certain features. A bayonet lug was a banned feature so Springfield removed it from the M1A. The ban expired in 2004 but Springfield did not put the lug back on the rifles.

Proper maintenance just like anything else.
catchthedemon 11 months ago

We can get semi auto versions but they are sadly rare, expensive and butchered to fit the lib laws here. Welded low cap mags.... etc.
SoCalTactical 9 months ago
@a2redneck I own an AK47 and just picked up an M1A civi version of M14 need to go give it some range time but I have a feeling it will out perform my AK in accuracy and range and that both will be reliable in desert conditions.
Where I shoot so much damn sand gets inside the rifles it's insane and I've seen the AK47, 1911 and Beretta 92 so far hold up with 100% reliability in those conditions. I'll bet the M1A will too. Sadly my buddies AR jammed constantly out there.
SoCalTactical 9 months ago
@SoCalTactical NICE! Yeah, for me im not the kind of person thats says "that gun sucks" because what it all comes down to is the shooter. The gun is only as good as the shooter. With that being said, guns are tools and some tools are better than others. Also, there is different tools for different jobs. Ya know what i mean?
Btw, from a military standpoint what do ya think is better the 1911 or 92? ;)
a2redneck 9 months ago
@a2redneck Yeah having owned both a 1911 and a Beretta 92 I can understand why the military made the switch. You can hold twice as much ammunition in the 9mm, it's easier for people who are new to shooting to get used to using a 9mm versus a .45. The Beretta having double stack magazines has a wider grip. Both fit well in the hands and are equals in reliability. I like the safety better in Beretta and double action/single action/ decocker in Beretta is awesome it comes down to caliber preference

a2redneck 9 months ago
@a2redneck go into combat with an m14 once and an m16 once and tell me which one is better then.
the m14 ebr so-com, which is the one in the video is very very accurate very powerful but also very heavy with high recoil, the m16 is light weight, accurate, powerful, and deadly, both weapons are great but in reality the m16 would be the better weapon to have, maybe 2 guys in the platoon could have m14 ebrs as sniper rifles but m14 ebrs for evryone wouldnt do to well.
wolf762able 8 months ago
@wolf762able in reality, it all come down to the shooter. For everyone to use m-16 wouldn't do so well. The m-14 is MORE accurate and MORE deadly than the m-16 ever can be. The recoil ain't that bad on the m-14. Just because the m-14 is a pound or two heavier, you shouldn't dissmiss the rifle. Besides, today with synthetics and light weight metals im sure the M-14 can be lighted up enough for you. I never went into combat with these rifles but i've shot both of them plenty.
a2redneck 8 months ago
@a2redneck i have fired both of these rifles, both of them are extremely accurate and both extremely deadly, the thing is the m16 is about 7lbs and the m14 ebr is about 14lbs and weight is a big factor, and you can carry way more 556/223 ammo than 762/308, m16 is made up of polymer and an aircraft metal alloy, the m14 ebr is made up of polymer and some kind of metal alloy, my dad was in vietnam and all my cousins are in the army or marines right now and theyve all said m4/m16 over m14 any day
wolf762able 8 months ago
@wolf762able The ebr is around 10 pounds, and like i said if you make the m-14 lighter by useing the "aircraft metal alloy". Please don't say you can carry more ammo, because that is just a bunch of bs. Your carrying the ammo in magazines and its not like the 7.62NATO is so much bigger than the 5.56NATO.
a2redneck 8 months ago
@a2redneck yea you can definitely carry more ammo with the m16, m16/m4s use 30 round magazines, m14s use 20 round magazines, m14 mags are much bigger and weigh more, trust me i have heard from so many combat infantry men and they have all said you can carry WAY more 556/223 than 762/308 caliber ammo, i own two m4s and 1 m16, i have fired different m1as and m14 including the ebr and ill tell you id take an m16 over an old shitty m14 any day except in a long range engagement.
wolf762able 8 months ago
@wolf762able so you would take a m16 over an enhanced battle rifle? that was originally designed for our elite navy seals? yea you can carry more 556 cal. ammo but your going to have to pump more of that ammo into the person your shooting at. just voicing my opinion. oh yea im pretty sure the m14 ebr is more updated than a m16
NUCRAZY7 8 months ago
