Hey thanks for uploading this. I was looking for an hour trying to find a good clip of this awesome pieice. I'm from Vancouver, but sure can't figure out where you were in that Kayak
The greatest master of all time Roger, with his best creation, and the great kayak video, just awesome! Greetings from Argentina, and keep doing great stuff with great music!
Obviously, this man had his conflict with diplomats, maybe in a Swedish confrontation; during the problem of Glastnost. He felt it explained about the failure of socialism to balance budgets for naturally balanced wealth.
Aaahhhhh, cuánto tiempo hacía que no escuchaba a mis queridos Supertramp!!! ¿por qué este grupo está tan olvidado? Vielvo a mi adolescencia y me entusiasmo. Gracias por colgar este vídeo!
i heard this played this morning after the 2 minutes of silence and i bawled my eyes out. thank you rodger hodgson and supertramp, and all the men and women who died in all the wars.
I can never forget when Supertramp's Fools Overture Synthesizer Part became useful as a theme song on the Longest Running Newsmagazine Program W5 aired on CTV Throughout the 1970's all the way til around the late 1990's and the W in W5 means Who, What, When, Where and Why as in the 5 W's but turn it around and you got W5!!! Today it is no longer used as a Theme for that show!!!
I love these songs, and I love Roger Hodgson... but why is he trying to erase all memory of the word 'Supertramp'? And people think Roger *Waters* is the antichrist!
My sister was killed by a drunk driver she was my life, my soul, my reason for living. This was her favorite song. She pulled away from my house with a wave and a smile as usual and if i just could have if I would have delayed her leaving maybe by just a few seconds she would still be with me now. the guilt is killing me. Why didnt i know? i miss her so much why didnt i , why didnt i say something?! Why did god destroy my faith in him this way!!!!!!
@coolecup Sorry to hear about your sister and your loss. This is not your fault nor is it God's. People choose their actions and that sometimes results in horrible consequences. It shows the value of enjoying every moment of ever day. May God's peace descend upon you as you deal with this tragedy.
I always think that I am watching an episode of the CTV show "W5" when I hear the portion from 3:20 to 5:00 (as this portion of "Fool's Overture" was used as the theme song for "W5" back in the early 1980s).
Thank you love for reminding me of what is really important in life ...! Never want to loose my way ! This song has been part of our lives for so long .... it has become a wonderful treasure we can share !
back in the 70's, listening this song first time, i was looking around me, it was just if i was caught in time. Like a movie! And still over all those years, that moment is still here. Because of this song! that was in 1977 when we moved from the country to the capitol city
for me it shows the madness of the human world. how we could have a paradise on earth! and what we are doing? it is a sad song. for me one of the sadest song ever...
Saw Supertramp in the summer of 1980 in an outdoor arena in Vancouver during their "Breakfast in America" tour. Best concert ever. A most magical and enchanting evening. Blazing on two hits of the cleanest and purest white blotter to come around in a long time probably had something to do with it. Pure Bliss! Goodbye stranger, it's been nice, hope you find your paradise.
@PhatElvis7 you are so very lucky! I went to so many concerts back then but never got the chance to see Supertramp! it kills me! they have always been one of my most favorite bands! Rodger Hodson is a genius! his lyrics are the best!
I would highly recommend other groups such as Yes, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Doors and so on. Start with the sixties and progress forward.....It will be an amazing journey, I assure you.
Nothing like finding new music. Even if it isn't 'new,' all that matters is if it's new to you. Wish my close-minded "if it wasn;t made in the last year then it's not cool" friends would realize that.
excelente la musica y la idea de la balsa en el mar sin rumbo q grupo supertramp musicos de verdad ,habra sacado alguna cristiana en algun momento o ahora q bendicion seria .apo14:12
History recall, how great the........... 70's music really was. Today's modern music is neither better or worse than the 70's & 80's music, it is just different. The same as todays youth are different, their likes are different. But this piece is a classic destined to live on long after most other music of today has faded away.
twas a time when music eased itself in our minds an thoughts, laying down with closed eyes, savouring each notes,So sad that we have to go back in the past to feel the powerfull ,yet gentle feeling of total abandon!
Crime of the Century, most argueably is the best album ever produced :) "Even in the Quietest Moments" is where this song came from. Great, great album.
"SuperTramp Live in Paris" is a great album. All the old and the new , and for a Live album it is of great quality.
Look at their album graphics work too. Great stuff.
legendary music, i remember listening to them in my boss,s car as i was cleaning it, in 1980...yep those were the days...an i recall em with a longing...
I'm sixteen as well, and I love listening to good music like this because it actually makes me feel something. It has so much meaning and emotion that I can relate to without being all dopey like taylor swift songs
This is an awesome song. It makes me sad to see people give such excellent prog-rock masterpieces like this and prog-rock bands in general a bad rap - especially as many of these same people who diss this music tend to favor far inferior modern-day music like Beyonce, Bieber, Kanye, etc.
In any case, this is a great song, and anyone who doesn't agree is totally missing out!
I just turned 20, i grew up with my parents, mostly my dad, "teaching me" to be a musician. He would make me listen to music such as this record so I could understand what its all about. Like 99AAAHHH said, my "generation" is so different with the music we make. And im not saying all songs and musicians are bad these days, but music like this touched our souls
Here I am, a sixteen year old watching this masterpiece of a song and all I can think is "What type off junk is my generation filling our heads with, this is true music that is meant to bring joy to all that hear it.". And here my decision stands, and that decision is to listen to the true artist of my time and before. May this never get old. :)
Well then young one, let your education begin.....cast aside modern "musicians", cast aside these vain and talentless hacks of today, these for whom the river of talent and originality is shallow indeed, cast aside these who build careers on the revolving door of drug rehab and scandal, cast aside these who spend their time boosting ratings alighting from limousines sans underwear .. reach back through time to the icons of rock, to the true poets and craftsmen of rock....
@mysweeteventhorizon there are still some good modern musicians but i must say the true beauty of music came from artists like pink flyod and not justin bieber or kesha, they are only in it for the money, but music back then was a whole different thing.I am14 and i grew up with music like this, and thank god because i have a head onshoulders because of this :) however ido liketo listen to modern because there are still some talented people out there.they just dont look like jb, and wont be noticed
@mysweeteventhorizon lol whatever man. while i'll admit theres alot of crap out there these days there are new artists seriously outperforming the old stuff.
I agree. The people today who say that all new artists are crap and the only good music is stuff from 30-40 years ago are completely misinformed. I have friends that won't even give any band from this era a listen because they are too ignorant to realize that great music is still being written. Don't get me wrong, classic rock is probably the best collection of music out there, but there are bands out today that are just on another level. (tool, btbam, scale the summit, etc)
@LyghtningRyder sure there is good music today, but that is not the problem.Which one's music is better Tool or lady gaga? who is in the radio and tv all the time? who sells more albums and has more fans? if that is not enough to get mad i don't know what it is.
@mysweeteventhorizon hey dude, relax on the talentless hacks stuff. there have always been artists and moneymakers in music. just pick the ones you like
You sound like a nutsy priest. All anyone needs to know who *cares* about *music*, is that it could come from any time or place. That's all. There is some good music today, which may or may not become classic. But 'classic' music is so called for a reason. My point: good music isn't dead!
@mysweeteventhorizon I think you should open youre eyes and ears and look and listen past these modern musicians like you said and look a bit further past shitty pop music to see that some music today is great you just need to take the time to look, find and listen i find england to have very good progressive rock writers theyre are some insanely amazing pianist these days all over the world etc.etc. your comment is very black and white move your head and look at the grey area
@99AAAHHH keep in mind that the junk of the olden days has been lost in history, when people look back at today thirty years from now what do you think they will be listening to? 50 cent and brittany spears? or the art of time ensemble, trans syberian orchestra, and the weakerthans?

@ziltoid1014
LyghtningRyder 9 months ago
