curtis looks different from william birkin has several reasons. firstly depending on the current state of the host, birkin was close to death and curtis (id say normal). and it also depends on the hosts DNA but still they can't infect people like t-virus zombies or lickers.

That's how anything's infected with the G-virus unless they're impregnated with an embryo from a G-virus infected host like how Brian Irons or the reporter were by William Birkin in 2 or how the woman in Outbreak File 2 was. If someone without the same genetic code as the original host (someone that isn't a sibling or direct relative) though, that host's embryo will come out of their chest and become a warped version of whatever their host was.
