  • Well done, keep on filming and publishing nice pictures and stories from our beautiful land. (the national anthem "Lijepa naša domovino" means "Our beautiful homeland" ;) )

  • @TitoSuperDrug Thanks, Tito, glad you are still with us. Yes, this land is indeed beautiful so feel free to subscribe and catch my films each time I upload a new one, usually ever 4-5 weeks.

  • Jako jako dobar uradak!!!!! Hvala

  • I feel as I was present and reminded of my presence

  • @ronpolla Thanks for your visit, have been away so sorry for he delay in replying. Good to see you here, nevertheless.

  • Great to see in Bukovlje these outlets for civic pride and community connection. I admire how involved they are and am especially interested in the newer women's cultural society. Their work reminds me of things I have purchased over the years at Greek festivals in my area and more recently, the Russian festival. I'd love to tote one of those bottle bags while calling on a friend. Nice work, especially the grace note at the end for those who have passed but who remain connected. :)

  • @HerAeolianHarp Yes, those bottle bags are good, arn't they. We bought two of them! Thanks for coming here and sharing your interest.

  • You enrich the diversity of our greater human community by documenting this demonstration of civic pride, selfless commitment and local heart of Bukovlje. Sharing these films on YouTube brings us all closer as we see how similar we are despite our differences. It's also heartening to know that the ideas of sustainable development are influencing community awareness in all reaches of our planet.

  • @PoemsBeingRead Thanks, James, it is great to read that these films are appreciated. When so many people left the village in the past in favour of the city it is gratifying to see that these community ties still hold strong and people are being pro-active to preserve their history and future.

  • This makes compelling viewing. For someone who lives in the heart of Soho and having spent some time with the 'community' here, it was a reminder of how it all works. Clearly where you are it is an important reality, and a necessity. Here less so and frankly I became disenchanted by the banality and a deep reluctance to open to other influences with a resistance to change. Perhaps always part of it. The rituals were also religiously followed. The forces in your vid seemed purer... fascinating!

  • @Caspar33 Thanks, Fred, I enjoyed this comment very much. I agree that the forces of the community seem very strong in our village. Someone commented earlier that in this film one can see the hierachy that exists, well, people might not agree but I think because of that the village is stronger. Everyone has a place and each person is aware of it. It is that certainty, I think, that gives it it's strength.

  • I've just been to ST. Fagans in Wales, which ia an open air museum where houses , farm buildings, tannery, mills etc from the past have been rebuilt. To find out how the people lived and worked modern day people occasionally try to live like the original people in these buildings.. This will not be necessary for future historians because of valuable films like this..

  • @johntimbrell That is very kind of you to say. I appreciate your comment. I don't know the place you mentioned in Wales but there is something similar in Sussex, The Weald and Down Museum, but that is just re-erected architectural buildings no re-enactments, still, some great structures there.

  • Absolutely intriguing and beautifully filmed Andrew. A1 insight into the hierarchy of the community..

  • @Poemsapennyeach Thanks for this, I took great trouble with this film as it is the first, so far (apart from the wedding one which I had to take down) to show a side of the whole community, I agree with your insight and perhaps because of it the community is the stronger for it.

  • Wonderful sense of community captured in this video! Lovely to see the work of the Bukvice; similar handicrafts can be found here, even the item of clothing @ 6:55 very much resembles the Cypriot traditional dress : )

  • @PassionateMistress Thanks, you are right. That sense of community has not really been explored in previous films but it is there and surprisingly strong. It is nice to hear, too, that there are similar handicrafts where you are. I guess it is a universal language, this need to decorate plain surfaces. Good to see you here, thanks again for your interest.
