  • i like watching them in the habitat they choose, not in cages. they like rocks, fallen trees, woodpiles, and fences, and put on a show for me every day except in winter. they also keep the insects in balance. wonderful creations, these swifts. they don't last long near roads though. favorite food of racers and garter snakes sometimes eat them too.

  • lol-they take it and run away

  • Also, for all of you who love these little critters and would like to see more of them, my brother has a lot more that he has posted up, now that he finally got high speed internet LOL

Do a search for his ID Name of: raydunakin

He also has a killer home made garden railroad he has been working on for several years and it's really coming along nicely. So, those who love cool things like that, check out those while you are there to :)

  • Are you able to pet/handle them?

  • @jedihunter176 Well, I just called him to make sure before I posted on this, but I was pretty sure that sometimes they have walked up onto his palms or fingers a bit to get to the meal worm, but as far as petting them, no way LOL They are very much trusting and come running out just to get free worms, but they aren't they trusting to let you touch them, i.e. like petting them or really anything else of touching them. They can walk on to you, but that's it. They are in control.

  • @mdunakin13 Huh. Well, my bluebelly lets me pet him anyway. But it's cool you got them to come to you!

  • that is amazing!! what state do you live in

  • @catfishking1996 San Diego Ca.

These little buggers are all over the place, at least in some of the more quiet neighborhoods hehe They tend to hang out in quiet backyards, where they chill out on the walls, or fences. My brother, who has even more of these videos, (in fact this IS his video) he has like a little desert section of his front yard and they love those big rocks and desert plants.

  • Part 04

Oh, and buy Meal Worms to feed them, they go nuts for them and you will have loads and loads of very happy camper NEW friends, allll lizards hehehehe

And the push ups are a total crack up to watch, though they do have a purpose. Two theories on that are they do that to see better in a 3D view, or two (the one I think sounds more likely) they do that to prove who's boss. But, some say it's both and it may be. Look for my brother for more videos . Ray Dunakin

Plus, if you pay very close attention, and preferably if you have a part of you garden or yard area that is dry with sandy type dirt and kinda desertish, you may even get to see the mother scratch out her nest and lay her eggs and later in several weeks (I don't know how long for sure on that?) you'll start to see all the little buggers all over the place, though lots will be eattin by birds and even other lizards and what ever else likes to eat them. But some will always grow up :)

  • Part 02

Anyway, I only have a few of these videos, but my brother recently bought himself a video cam and has been making all new videos of these little guys. as for taking care of them, personally, I prefer they live free and just hang around your property, like normal, since really, if you feed them and treat them kindly like that, they'll love to stay living there anyway, so why capture them? ;) Stick withletting them live free is what I suggest, ok? :)

  • Part 01

OK, sorry I haven't replied to any of you, I guess I either never got any messages letting me know people were posting, or I have no clue, cuz I always reply :)

Anyway, basically, these lizards live at my oldest brother's house, not mine, though the lizards, a lot of them know me fairly well, mostly the older ones, but once the little ones see the other guys coming over to you they soon join in as well, cuz hey, free food is free food hehehe

  • lucky!awsome.

  • how do you know if your yard has lizards???????? can someone plz reply

  • wow first time ive ever seen one eat from someones hand!

  • dude i want to take over ure house and feed the lizards -.-

  • i just caught 5 western fence lizards any tips on caring for them

  • well u need a bowl of water... plenty of sunlight and like some kind of walnut crushed dirt or somthing like that.. i dont know but i bought em and the lizards start digging into the dirt and sleep... oh and u need fake wood because they like to sleep on the wood and rest under it.

  • hehe, are there any babies around? one of them did pushups at me, yet it was so small XD how long did it take for them to get used to you?

  • Part 3 reply:

I still have some more videos to wade through, but it takes some time to get through all the videos that I have dumped to my puter LOL And yes, they can and do get pancaked every now and then, but in that residential area where he lives, the lizards seem to know better and enjoy living in the desert like yard my brother has set up.

    ..........md :)

  • Part 2 reply:

The main thing is, more then that they can see very good, is that they also can reconise different people from other people, which is cool, as they know my brother very well and come running out to him and they sometimes tend to do the same with me too, though I sort of look like him also and have fed them many times too. It's just funny that these tiny little guys can figure things like facial recognition like that and all?

  • Part 1 reply:

    Thanx for the comments :)

Yes, my brother (and sometimes me too) feed them little critters all the time. he feeds them meal worms, but sometimes, if he find earwigs, he'll feed them those too, as they like to eat them also. But mostly he just buys the meal worms for them. And yes, their eyes are really awesome, not only are they cute, but their actual vision is par with humans and some say slightly better.

  • proof, when i had my lil girl she would sometimes try to crawl up my arm when i tried to put her back, she knew i loved her and did my best for her... R.I.P. little one...

  • that was cute. do you do this often? was that a centipede or meal worm? i heard the truck go by. bluebellies and roads don't mix they usually end up on that smooth warm rock. they like to eat ants sometimes and darkling beetles and crickets and they need good places to hibernate away from extreme cold and heat. their eyes and feet are so perfect i have always admired them and the color varieties and antics. bluebellies forever

  • tttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • Wow they are fast !!!
