one thing about sampling, and being completely unbiased. Yes everybody samples sometime or another, to get a right instrument/sound or whatever. It's generally OK. A very famous drumbeat sample from James Brown was used in various songs. But in this case timbaland sampled a whole melody line which he used as a basis for his song. Thats it a bit too far, so sunni deserves proper credit and royalties, esp considering how much money the song is worth.

Its funny how people who never used a C64 to make music cant understand how difficult it can be when you are limited to 3 channels of 8 bit sound with the additional requirement to learn Assembly Language programming to produce that music. Now lets compare arranging a song through Assembly and just simply mixing samples!? Sampling is one of the easiest methods of making music and far from complex in comparison.

Very few (if any) c64 musicians nowadays code their music using assembly. There are a bunch of trackers (like protracker) and the track in question was also composed using one.

its funny how people with obviously no experience with music production think they know everything about the music industry.sampling is legal and in certain situations the original artist recieves NO credit.try sitting in a studio with nothing but a metronome as inspiration,and create a hit song from that.impossible.theres too many possibilities of what to do with the song.Sampling confines the producer to a key,rhythm and style allowing them to create a much better and more organized song.

no... not really. there is plenty of modern black music that is original. just put the time in to find it. NO mainstream music these days is original. no matter what style. if you really care so much about the "original music" go to the underground scene. unsigned artists of all races bring new, fresh and original ideas to music everyday. the reaason you dsont hear originality on the radio is beacause originality doesnt sell, and record companies dont want to take risks.

Its funny how people who never used a C64 to make music cant understand how difficult it can be when you are limited to 3 channels of 8 bit sound with the additional requirement to learn Assembly Language programming to produce that music. Now lets compare arranging a song through Assembly and just simply mixing samples!? Sampling is one of the easiest methods of making music and far from complex in comparison.

I Agree with everything you just said,i know full and well how difficult composing music is because I compose music myself and i do NOT sample. Even in my previous comment i said that sampling makes the production task EASIER. And no i havent used a C64 (Commodore 64?) but i have produced on an ensoniq eps and found that difficult. so i cant imagine 8 bit 3 track! dont come at me like im stupid please. re-read my original comment if you have to.

I have not produced music on the C64 either ( yes, its Commodore 64 :) but i have friends that do ( mostly made tracks on the Amiga myself ) so yes it IS difficult! I apologise for misrepresenting you :(

Very few (if any) c64 musicians nowadays code their music using assembly. There are a bunch of trackers (like protracker) and the track in question was also composed using one.

No, You are wrong. When you sample something, you use a part of it, and change it to make it your own. All timbaland did was rip off the song. It sounds exactly the same, except he added something over the ringtone version. and the nelly furtado song sounds exactly the same, same beat and everything the melody is just a little different.
