@CraftyDanceGirl I don't think it helps me play better, but I prefer to keep it not too tight, which is a little hard to describe, but as long as the wood part of the bow is still curvy it's fine :)

@BigTimeRusky Learning on your own is great, but a bit difficult since you dont have someone to guide you if what youre doing is right or wrong. I suggest you ask a friend who knows violin to guide you with violin or something :D

Very nice! I received this piece a couple weeks ago for Solo and Ensemble in February. I've been playing for a year and a half. I love this piece, it flows really well! I've got most of it down -- I just need to work on the middle part. I sometimes play along with this video! Good job!

@Warfareful If you've been spending time working on proper general and musical technique for the year, then by no means is it bad that you're just getting to book 3. You might find that only after many years the songs actually sound "good" so take as long as you need on each one to get the technique that's pertinent to each piece.

Also look out for how long the wood has been dried and how it has been dried (Air dry or Natural)

You look out for what kind of varnish they use and what kind of wood is used most common is

Spruce front and Maple back

@KilluminatiTerrorist Thanks, yeah! I find that a lot of people think they're wiggling their fingers a lot except they don't realize when it doesn't sound like their vibrato-ing. Make sure your wiggle is wide enough to actually sound like you're using vibrato. It actually takes a LOT of wiggle to make it sound like it is.
