  • How about Genesis 1 and 2 give contrary sequence of creation? How many of each animal went into the ark (2 or 7)? Who prompted David to take a census, God or Satan? Who killed Goliath, David or Elhanan? Did Judas or priests purchase Potter's field? How did Judas die? Did Jesus suck on a sponge while crucified? What colour robe was out on Jesus? Purple or scarlet? Which of seven choices were Jesus' last words? Who visited the tomb Easter morning? Who was Jesus' paternal granpa? Heli or Jacob?
  • Excellent post... the bible belt area of america is full of hypnotised, indoctrinated religeous nuts. This must be both frustrating and embarrasing for the logical thinking sane ones amongst you.

  • I talked to Brian 10/18/07 and no one has taken him on the challenge but he did say he got several calls of support.

  • I wonder how much that thing cost?

  • 600...

DAMN IT i should really read comments before posting..

How long does it run for? Jus the one thing?

I would be tempted to give him a buck or two if I could :P

  • One time. I kind of hinted the newspaper is a bad way to spread the message because of the cost and only 82000 readers get the Friday paper. I need to follow up with him and find out if anyone called him besides supporters like me.

  • $600

  • Very well put, Brian and thanks for the post TX.

I am beginning to suspect that there are an awful lot more of us then we realise.

Are we on the verge of a new "enlightenment"?

It's an exciting time to be non-deluded!

    Love.

  • That's awesome.

  • I am half-tempted to write this and pay for it to go into my religion. I live in a HIGHLY religious conservative town where 95% believe in creationism and the world is going to end in 5 years or something. Probably be lynched if I put my name on it.

  • "Probably be lynched if I put my name on it."

    Brain bolton...

Hmmm almost sounds like it could possibly be a alias :P

  • I didn't ask him when I spoke with him but he answered to Brian when I called and asked to speak to Brian Bolton. Real nice older gentlemen.

  • Brian is brave, lol.

  • You are THE MAN, Brian. Good luck! Would love to hear some follow up on this fellow.

  • When I spoke with him he said there would be a follow up if someone calls him. We'll have to wait and see

  • wow thats fucking awesome. Im surprised they had the balls to print it.

If anything like that ran in my local paper there would be such a shitstorm of opposition....

  • TXatheist, atheist ads in Texas newspaper? Am I going to have to alter my view of Texas as Jesusland? My hat's off to you. Thanks.

  • Let's not go overboard, texas is still a majority of fundies :)

  • That guy has balls of steel.

  • Really nice older retired gentleman who was grateful I put this on youtube.

  • Amazing, hope your country gets better.Which it is since Bush will leave office.

  • Nice! How in the world did that make it into a news paper in Texas?

  • Paid advertisement. I talked to him and he said he'll most likely only get a couple of responses. It was $600 for the ad.

  • Couldn't the paper of refused to run the ad? I guess if it's money you don't really care.

  • I'm sure they have guidelines but it wasn't slander or swearing or vulgar so I'm not surprised they ran it. I see ads from atheist community of austin, our local group, in the paper occasionally.

  • Wow I'm surprised to see that in a Texas paper at all.

  • There is a free paper that comes out on thursday called the Chronicle(not the Houston Chronicle) and they are a liberal paper with usual jabs at fundies and conservatives.

  • Interesting.
