I often thought this song should be done by a rock band, with drums, and the pace picked up quite a bit. There is some group called "Frente" that's done it, but not the arrangement I'd envision.

@gymnastix Actually, a punk group from Los Angeles called Redd Kross could have done this years ago, if they're still together. They did a great song called "Bubblegum Factory," with back-up vocals by Susan Cowsill, of the legendary 1960s family band The Cowsills, on who "The Partridge Family" TV series was based.
