I've owned a Roland Sh-101 for over 12 years but i eventually sold it to acquire the Korg Legacy Analog with the mini-usb-version of theMS-20.
If you'd like to exchange knob/patch settings.
Recently i discovered how to use my MS-20 as a vocoder or effect. Unfortunaltely this works only in standalone mode. ;-) So still some things are the same as the real thing.
Heh. I guess that was a good deal. I want to say selling the sh-101 was bad idea but the korg legacy sounds ms-20 sounds really authentic especially with the controller.
What I like of machines like this (old with some limitations) is the fact that one has to really try a lot of things in order to find a way to do things, during this process tricks and some weird but effective things are discovered, basically they become experimental machines.
Many Thanks for your advice and for posting those very inspiring videos.
I'll keep in touch (maybe with some other questions)
Actually I think the 606 trigger out works good as well .But after trying the functions the SQ-10 has, I can tell that to me the best way to drive the sequence is with the SQ-10 internal voltage clock because it's great to make sudden speed changes , also adjusting the duty knob and patching channel c sequence into the clock speed. The SQ-10 is a fantastic machine. It would really benefit of some more contemporary things like a Tempo Indicator , Reset Switch, Sync in -out and Step Mute.
I'll try everything you say. I found an enormous amount of people talking about different things like : Inverting the trigger signal (s-trig) , Dividing the clock source , MS-02 etc etc, ... and a very interesting method of triggering the SQ-10 by patching a drum sound into the MS-20 ext signal processor to convert it to Korg trigger and send it to the SQ-10 Step input ( it works fine but after some tweaking in the Ms-20 signal processor module)

Great videos!!! I just bought a SQ10 and I'm getting mad trying to sync it to a Tr 606 properly ( by connecting a Tr 606 trigger out to the Sq10 step in) it works but it doesn't reset to step 1 each time the drum machine is stopped or started . Is there a way to do that?
Could you please give me some advice?
I also have a kenton 2000 midi to cv/cclock and a ( it could help to know)
Can't wait for my MCV4 to arrive.. I can sync it with my korg RM55 but its very unstable. No solid BPM, it wobbles ;) ( i guess thats a thing with old analog stuff you have to deal with)
One SQ-10 channel output is directed to "VCO 1+2 CV IN". The other channel output is directed to "VCO 2 CV IN". The last one overrules the first one, but only for VCO 2. This way both VCO's use different CV signals.

Nice job ... I am interested in knob/patch settings.

very cool!
It was born in my country, and I think that I am glad because I see an old synthesizer patronized all over the world still like this.

curious, can one of these be used successfully with the legacy (digital) version of the ms20?

It is great, i want to know how did you sync the sq-10 to the drum machine?
sotojorgelberto 3 years ago
Via a Doepfer MSY1. It converts MIDI CLOCK messages into 5V signals to trigger the SQ 10 sequencer steps.
