We've grow to love many of the sounds made with these pickups, but it's still a fact. In modern venues w/"good" electricity, humbuckers aren't necessary, but are still used because many guitarists & audiences prefer them, in spite of their limitations. Jeff Beck & Eric Clapton both used humbuckers in the late 60s, but almost never use them now.
