Thanks for putting this up. The Daleks are funny hehe especially the first appearance. "Exterminate!" and when they took the antiradiation drug they start spinning, "help, oww owwww..." haha
The reason people from the 60ts used the scared of the Daleks was because people said they were like the Nazi;s. They spoke like Nazi's and they were ruthless like them, i agree the Daleks today look and sound better but i can kinda imagine why the nazi-phobia took place.
@LifterC3 I don't think they are meant to be scary in nu-hu. I think they are meant to be laughed at. Have you seen the way they look??? And the white one has a way crap voice.
@LifterC3 All Tennant knows is how to spit & shout all the time & screw up his face. He is unable to act normally, he's like a hyperactive cartoon. Matt on the other hand can actually act ... sometimes. It's too bad he's given the same stupid lines as Tennant. In the olden days the Dr. would change personality after he regenerated, almost to the complete opposite, but now they are all the same shouty, magic wand-wielding dumbass.Theactors act different but the writers don't write him different.
@LegoDaleks On the contrary, I think both Eccleston and Tennant were good actors. But Smith is pretty sorry in comparison. Tennant may have done a lot of yelling and such but he knew when to do it and how to get the best effect. Perfect example of "method to madness." Smith feels like he's trying to be Tennant and failing. Tennant feels like he's trying to outdo Eccleston and almost succeeding. :p But we all have our opinions--9 was my first Doctor so maybe I'm biased.
@GenvieveWoolf Yeah, as I said, they are all really similar. David Tennant should have just been himself, because he's rather pleasant in interviews, he just goes over the top with his "acting". But dude, I have never seen Chris act well in anything. He might have been better if he hadn't insisted on doing that accent. Matt mumbles a bit, but in Beast Below he outacts the other two with his subtlety. But he does an accurate impression of them in 11th hour & Victory: "I am the Dr.!!!" Nonsense.
@LegoDaleks Over the top, eh? I think the 2nd and 3rd Doctors did quite a bit of that... except that I don't really think it was over the top if you consider that the Doctor is very two-sided: he uses crazy sporadic humor to offset his underlying melancholy. I've seen this in all the Doctors and I think it's the one trait that should always hold true. It's how you recognize "Yup, he's still the Doctor!" after each regeneration.
@GenvieveWoolf No, 2 & 3 are never over the top. Have you seen YT-fanvids of nuhu, they always act really crazily & jitter about like they've got ants in their pants - cuz they are copying nu-hu acting. Then if you check out ChrisHoyle's vids for instance there is one with someone doing a rather accurate Jon Pertwee (I think it's called: gene genius). So if U don't believe me, believe them. 2 & 3 R rather subtle, like when they are sad, they don't start sobbing, they are too mature for that.
@LegoDaleks Okay I didn't take offense until now: It is NOT immature to cry. Real men cry. I find tears to be a sign of a mature actor, someone who has good control over his physiology--it's quite impressive. And... 2 and 3 are SO over the top. But maybe we have different definitions. To me it means "unbelievable." I always believed 9 and usually believed 10. But I almost never believe 11. I'm sitting there going, "he's a guy in a suit pretending to be the Doctor." 2 &3 weren't believable either
@GenvieveWoolf If Ur 100s of years old, it certainly is immature to cry, but nu-drs act like teens. They also act too human, by crying over things that we would cry over. Real HUMANS cry, the Dr is not human. Its untrue 2 the character. Whoa, 9&10s performances were so not believable!. They always had to shout: "I am the Dr!" over&over, like they were trying to convince themselves. Tennant even says in an interview that he never felt he'd B worthy to play the Dr. until Eccleston lowered the bar.
@LegoDaleks The Doctor *should* be actingmore human as he goes because he's spending more time with them. #1 was cold toward humans at first, but by the time he regenerated he was very fond of them. #2 started off merely interested, but by the end he was extremely attached to them. It's a nice progression, I think. The Doctor may not be human, but it's important for him to act very human so the audience can relate. It's easy to see this approach throughout the series.
@GenvieveWoolf A 900 y.o. timelord is too advanced for a 19 y.o. human. Let me put it in perspective: Imagine you, the age that you are now. If you started hanging out with babies from ages 0-2, and you really liked them, would you really after a while start messing your pants and crying for no reason? Romantic love, sex and crying are primitive and the Dr. is an endlessly wise person. e.g. Romance is not as important to an educated intelligent woman, than an uneducated/lessintelligent woman.
@LegoDaleks You have trouble getting dates, don't you? xD jk. I can see from your apples to oranges that we're not going to agree so I'll just quit while I'm... not even entered in the race. I just want to say, I don't think that crying or affection is any kind of indication that a person is not wise or mature.
@GenvieveWoolf I'm just saying there are more important things on the dr.'s mind then being in love with teenagers. I know mature humans cry, but the Dr. is more rational than any human. Like Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes, that's who the Dr. should be like, not Harry Potter.
LOL! RIVER DALEK! Daleks, they can kill, they can write, scan, controll, pilot, look around them with an articulation of 360, some can fly, they can betray Davros, that's just about everything they need to be supreme, but... somereason THEY NEED TO SWIM! Can't they land a ship somewhere water sorrounds or something?! And that is one big goof.
@TotallyRadicoolDude Yes but we're talking about these Daleks, these Daleks have no ability of flight, Imperial Daleks as far as we know were the first to fly in 1988.
@JerryTheDoc Yeah but I like to think that cos the Daleks are intelligent, they could always do that anyway they just dont want the doctor to know their full power straight away, the doctor may know a lot about Dalek history, but the Daleks invented new weapons every other day so I doubt anyone could keep track...........
@TotallyRadicoolDude Yes, good point. But then these Daleks specificly like the first ones don't have slats, just a dish which can be easily snapped off, so if they have movement disabilities on other planets, I'd say that they'd not cope hovering and flight until "The Chase" though we don't see 'em fly. This is quite a discussion.
@JerryTheDoc No, it's a cool effect, and a cool way of revealing a Dalek. They would never do something creative like this in nu-hu and if they would, it would just be a cgi Dalek and not a real one.
@LegoDaleks I agree the effects and that are awsome but you gotta admit a swimming Dalek is random. (though probably what the Daleks want us to belive) lol
@MrBucketKing21 The producers failed to crank up the ring modulator effect for the dalek voices ... it's not the same without that. I think someone on youtube uploaded a vid with the voices enhanced.
Well on the first dalek story, the daleks lived in a city, and were powered by static electricity, by the floor, the daleks could never leave the city because of it, so the disk's are like solar panals so the daleks can be powered no matter were they are.
@DrWhoTube540 and the slats that were added in the next story, "The Chase", stored power, a little like batteries, and became a major design feature of the daleks. But then in "Victory of the Daleks", the daleks were (extremely poorly and unnecessarily) redesigned without these slats, so technically have no power source......
I almost thought he was gonna say "Resistance is futile" XD I watch too much Star Trek... Well, I've definetely given up on it since the latest Movie, but hey, there's other shows, like, for example, this one. I wonder how it could last that long and still get cooler and cooler with each new episode... Most Shows become rubbish if continued long enough, but not DW... and if the trailer for Series 5 is any indication, it's gonna become even cooler!
@KendrixTermina DW did gat cooler and cooler and then it ended in 1989. The series you were referring to was just a cheap imitation of DW, not the real thing.
Why is that I every time I watch a Doctor Who opening I feel like I'm about to embark on a drug trip? XD DW is awesome.
