  • karen preston had the god's grace.this her esixhibition give me the sames effects that hads the king herod when watched the salome' dance, in a word, llust.

  • Preston showed so much promise when she won the Nationals in 89, but she never really improved very much after that... If she could have skate a bit faster and "lighter" while cleaning up some of the 2-foot landings, I think she would have been a major threat.

  • These marks are somewhat less egregious than for the short program, where I am still incredulous about how they found a way to mark her down to 4.7 and 4.8. It's like they gave her no credit whatsoever for her exquisite layback, her spiral sequence (very good by 92 standards). OK, a lower base mark because of a triple flip rather than lutz, but hello? Isn't a landed flip better than a fall on a lutz (Ito) or axel (Harding)?! 12th after the short? Please!

  • Yes, Manley's Olympic silver (LP winner) in '88 was huge for Canadian women results, and also Rochette's 5th place in Torino 2006. However, it is impossible to exclude the result of Barbara Ann Scott, the 1948 Olympic Champion.

  • i skated with Karen on Disney on Ice snow white. what a wonderful technition! she is such a great skater. I may be out of line here but Chouinard gets alot of credit but if you look at alot of the international results when they were skating at the same event you will see that the majority of better finishes were infact by Karen!!!

    LOve ya Karen

    Call me

    shane

  • of course let us not forget joannie's 5th in torino

  • a very composed skater, pleasant to watch. terrible flutz though

  • About the mark, 5.5 is a the correct mark for technical but I don't understand the second mark, especially Vanessa Riley going down by 0.4 (and -0.7 at the following worlds)

  • Abfrank, you are so right. This FP is so undermarked and so was Chen Lu's that should have been fourth or fifth in the FP.

This is Karen's best FP ever, the jumps are so clean (lovely knee bent, the triple flip and double axel are so great), she never landed her jumps so softly. And yes, six triples (five clean as the triple loop was cheated).

  • Karen was a classmate of mine from elementary school through high school. She was definitely cheated out of a higher placement for this routine--she should have at least been top 5 or 6.

  • Some of those technical scores seem a bit low considering she landed six triples. The judges definitely left a lot of room and they ended up not needing to since no one really skated clean. This might have been the cleanest LP along with Chen Lu.
