Truer words have never been spoken. Collossus is worse because it takes several hits to get something done. Reaver can change the course of the game with one hit, and that makes it more exciting. It's also slower and more vulnerable, which makes it even more risky. Shit's awesome. Too bad SC2 is so safe.
i know people always counter-argue with the "you have to micro and macro and that is the reason why progamers sometimes screw up their battles." but i dont think its about multitasking, its more about what requires more of your attention. if you're doing a reaver drop, freakin target your scarabs and try to get the most out of your drop, right? why would someone macro off instead of focusing on their reavers
Well look at this video, you will know they do good targeting, and why would he macro? Well depends....If you are being attacked by the Zerg and you are attacking his base too with 2 reavers, you will kill all his workers and he will destroy your base....And lets put it other way, if you Micro in battle vs Zerg you can win with Psy Storms and let alone Reavers, cuz they will Target Drones anyway, if that are the only "living" targets there...SC is more Macro then a micro game...
nowadays, it is, partially thanks to iloveoov. but if SC is more macro than micro, then killing off drones would be considered hindering your opponents macro, right. so then your macro becomes better than his with a simple right-click with the reaver
Well not just thanks to him, it is a fact, obviously, i played first WC3 competitive and then SC(yeah strange, i know :D) and i have learned that in SC i had good micro, but i always lost cuz of poor macro, until i adapted to it...For example, i manage to escape the Psy Storm with 2 groups of Hydras, and then i micro them and killed ~15 Zealots, but you know why i lost?Cuz he then came with another 20 Zealots and 5 Dragoons and i didnt spend time on making units....
yeah i mean you're right and it takes a long time to kill ~15 zealots with hydras because you need to constantly micro them... but macroing elsewhere in ur base outweighs the damage you do with those hydras... like i mean macro is important in those cases because microing the hydras drain so much precious macro time, but targetting scarabs aren't that hard, and i feel like progamers should pay more attention to the damage they can do by targetting scarabs
Well i know what do you mean, well we dont see much of a use of Reavers nowadays, but at least in this Video, you can see they aim for central Drone/SCV/Probe and try with splash to kill them all... also Reaver is very hard unit for controling, well not Reaver, but Scarabs the most, if you dont have Luck and Scarab explodes w/o making dmg you are screwed anyway :(
No we are not talking about controlling Scarabs we know that :D we were talking about Targeting, if you watch this video you will see that Pros dont just Auto-Attack with Reaver, they target exactly unit that is in the center or something like that so that Scarab would reach their full potential...

Splash Damage doesn't need detectors. If the units are in the splash radius, they'll get damaged, regardless of whether or not they're burrowed or cloaked.
This is true, however, in order to even be in a radius of splash damage, the reaver will need to target fire something over the burrowed units, if nothing is over the burrowed units, there can be no scarab to deal the damage.

Splash Damage doesn't need detectors. If the units are in the splash radius, they'll get damaged, regardless of whether or not they're burrowed or cloaked.
