  • im glad i stumbled on this video, i almost forgot how awesome squarepusher was, ill have to dig thru my old albums and give them a listen again

  • Have you idiots been arguing for five months?

The bigger tragedy here is I had a mixtape someone did me of ninja tunes shit that had a squarepusher tune on...which I don't know the name of! I can play you the fucking bass line note perfect, even in all my years in rock bands I used to play it to warm up...but still can't find that damn tune!

Actually, maybe you guys are a bigger tragedy.

  • @withnail420 9 months now apparently, I saw new comments in my inbox and it bought me back here. In a cosmic sort of way one persons inability to let something go cheered me up. I had forgotten about this video and it was nice to hear it again, so to that person thanks! Now the only problem I have is I'm going to be stuck on youtube listening to squarepusher songs for hours.

  • that baby is damn lucky :P

  • This man is a genius.

  • WHERES THE REST OF THE SET?!?!

  • can't believe this is 10 years ago. fuck im old

  • @kytta damn, your right! im feeling pretty old myself right now

  • Fuck my brain is dancing

  • why are all these people screaming instead of listening to the precious music?

  • i feel awkward watching the crowd dancing to this lol, but then again they are asian.

  • i almost feel like he should should be beating the shit out of something its so cool get the fuck down tom

  • Japan seems like such an awesome crowd!

  • this is great! thanks for uploading.

  • охуенно!

  • He ought to be playing bigger shows. Man's got talent.

  • @trapfman @ReeceJackson Why are you fighting over something so stupid? Seriously, comparing Squarepusher to AFX is like trying to compare Mozart to Beethoven. Both artists are insanely talented and have their own defining qualities that make them unique. Why can't you just enjoy the music? I know I am.

  • @fearof33 And why would you not be able to compare Mozart to Beethoven ? Because you are a moral fag ? Or just because you have no actual sense of music ? I bet it's kind of both.

  • Timeless masterpiece, one of the best dance tracks ever released that holds against time so well. Balances on the edge of breakcore (that is pushed too far to find moves for imho) and melody, vocal driven traditional IDM (that is too slow, random or boring to dace to in a long run). Well done mr. squarepushaaaa

  • You cannot argue with Tom's groove. It is timeless. He understands that, although the beat calls for 200+, we should hear it as 100+. L()L And sometimes, something else.

  • Omg what a geek, wants to be Aphex Twin badly.

  • @ReeceJackson make me unread it plz

  • @ReeceJackson Uhhhhmmm, they are friends....LOL.....besides, what Richard D. James shared with Tom Jenkinson, Tom Jenkinson took it much further than Richard could have ever taken it. No offense to Richard, he is GREAT in his own right. In fact, if you really listen to both of them, you understand that they both have "similar" but, "different" styles. They sound the same, but, when you "drill" down into it, they are definitely different. That's all I'll say about it.

  • @ReeceJackson Haha you're retarded :-p Jenkinson is a beast, also much more developed than AFX

  • @trapfman More developed than Aphex Twin? Hahahahaha you tool.

  • @ReeceJackson XD Another AFX loving retard.. It's ok man, Im not judging him for not being able to play a single instrument or write real music, whatever, you just hear it compared to SPs music. If you don't understand, it's OK, maybe you should wank your dick to more of that shallow AFX stuff you seem to like ^^

  • Comment removed

  • @ReeceJackson The only writing he did was on shobaleader ? Lmao what are you talking about He has done tons of stuff ignorant donkey ass x)

"The most influential artist of all time" ? Hahah you're fking shitting me right ? You're really retarded if you believe that. Broaden your narrow mind. Also, you should try to form your own opinion, maybe study some music if you're really interested.. Because for now, you sound like a little cocksucker who doesn't know his facts x)

  • Comment removed

  • @ReeceJackson Hahaha you pathetic little fish.. So working on an album that hasn't been produced yet is making a living out of music ? I'm sure you think you're quite something, but you aren't XD Also, any 'proud' musician would have picked up my comment and said there is never a day without studying music, but I guess there's nothing more for you to learn LOL

  • @trapfman @ReeceJackson Stop boring flamewar, cuz Baboon's better than Weasel...

  • @dreqzkind SP > AFX

  • @trapfman bullshit, they are both awesome but RDJ is like god.

  • @epcot Rofl Claiming that AFX is even REMOTELY in the same category as Jenkinson as a musician is just fking ignorant. Get over it. :-)

It's like saying Lady Gaga is better than Mozart, because you don't like Mozart's music and can swing like a beast to Gaga's.

  • @trapfman your pointless example is pointless, because I really like both of them. There's no doubt that they are both the greatest artists in the genre, though I consider RDJ much more experimental. But I see that you are fighting almost with everyone here, so it's evident that you are just a troll. Get over it.

  • @epcot If being 'experimental' is your only requirement for liking music, you must be very simple minded. I bet you're one of those newfags who is still rolling on dubstep, claiming it's FKING NEW OMG AWEZUM. I could get a xylophone and slap my dick against it a few times and you would call me an amazing experimental artist...... lol no. Jenkinson is WAY more talented, has MUCH more musical knowledge, and is actually able to play an instrument (unlike rdj ZOMG I HAVE SYNTH). No competition.

  • @trapfman you say it's my _only_ requirement for liking music, I told you I like both of them. But you are clearly unable to understand anything. Anyway you're annoying both in what you say and the assuming, arrogant way you say it. I wonder how old are you to be such an aggressive moron.

    ...end of line...

  • @epcot I'm sure you're wondering how old I am you twisted sick fuck. I bet you live across a primary street.

  • @trapfman lol now I see what you're doing here. What are you? A lonely ugly kid who hopes for some sick fuck basement dweller to contact him via the interweb? Unfortunately for you, I'm not :)

  • @epcot Oh you came back ! Don't you have some awesome animated BMX videos to upload, you talentless piece of no life ?

  • @trapfman talks the one who follow my videos. You know what's a game? It's not an animation, you understand this? Can you say "no"? Tard.

  • @epcot Yeah I bet it was awesome enough to upload all those videos. Go do something with your life you fag.

  • @trapfman Awwwwwww :)

  • @trapfman blahblahblah cheap trolling blahblahblah fag. Even more tard.

  • So this song used to be called Different Styles?

  • admirable effort by the crowd trying to dance to this

  • @quaskx AS a person who likes to dance to this music, I say, it's hilarious watching others attempt to dance to this. But, once in a while, you get a person who comes along and can make the sound LOOK good. LOL I'm not always that person, but, more often than not, I'm that person.

  • @Kostly prove it!

  • @quaskx You want a video posted? LOL Maybe when I get back from Ultra 13 I'll have some material to share. BUt, this music is just as danceable as any Jungle, Drum and Bass. IT's a bit faster at times, but, mostly I dance to it at 1/2 pace, not the full 190-220 bpm.

  • wat a nerd

  • FROM THE MIND OF A MASTER BEING / HERE COMES THE STYLE LIKE A STYLE-BODY / SING TO THE BIBLE OF FANTASY / THE FUCKING JEDI ALWAYS MAKES ME CUM

  • Probably the only gig you shall get over a thousand asians bobbing in the same form and pattern, fucking genius,

  • It's good to know Squarepusher. Know him since I was a wee lad X) Beautiful breakdown at 3:15

  • It's good to know Squarepusher. Know him since I was a wee lad X)

  • I believe I do know Squarepusher.

  • 5:00 - 5:01 cool :D

  • could be a druqks track

  • @autte

lol...what? the rhythm is a lot different from Druqks tracks actually. Plus, it's distinctively Squarepusher. Aphex would make something great but different, and thats a good thing.

  • sounds really small on this big system - i would be good to have more people in the band to fill out some sounds... frickin sweet though

  • @universalflowster How in the world can someone ad anything to this? His music is way to complicated to have someone else messing along with.

  • what was he playing on?

  • @Obiwan198 I can see a Alesis Dum Module on 0:20, but "the big black thing" that he's playing, it's a secret that anyone don't know.

  • @Obiwan198

    Nothing...

  • Big tune, check my channel for some experimental riddims

  • @MrAlexpee33 nice, but try adding a snare

  • 2.14....There's hope for the human race after all. Warm spine feelings.

  • He looks THAT stone

  • i like it

  • q jefe!!!

  • fuck. live fetzt der song ja noch, mehr als er ohnehin schon tut.. sick..

  • Do you like Squarepusher? Yes or Yes?

  • @ChampionAnwar Absolutely.

  • @ChampionAnwar Is there a "Fuck Yee!" option?

  • he just mindfucked like a thousand people at once

  • "In to the mind of a master being" indeed. This guy is fucking genious.

  • 4:15 delicious japanese :-)

  • That sound like new music style :-) really great.

  • Comment removed

  • djing/sampling and editing is friggin hard but if you know how to do it then it gets easier. I am a noob breakcore producer in germany who can (after three years practice) dj in real time and squarepusher is my idol.

  • damn that is fucking amazing

  • LOL at the baby just chillin

  • jap guy at 4.05 makes me wet myself, must of rewind it 20 times now.

  • @mattgc1 He uses 303's live?

  • @deftonesfan192 it came from outer space

  • 3:33 you mad nutter!!!

  • Haha, this looks fun as hell, the whole crowd is dancing, I love it.

  • badassery.

  • Guy is from a whole other planet.

  • 2:12 that baby is at least 11 years old now

  • lol yes.

  • @coldswift7 That's insane to think about... Seems like this was not that long ago.

  • That is amazing: this is dubstep in 2001! And heaps more interesting than most too. Ahead of his time that's for sure.

  • "YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! make some fucking noise!!!!!!!

    for da squarepushaaaa"

  • that's the funniest thing.

  • the guy is fucking XStatiK.

    FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • i can intelligently dance to this

  • @truesks lol

  • Funny how the audience goes "Wooooh" when he makes just some random FX-noizes and the starts the playback! But I would love to see one of his shows, too!! This tune is one of the best ever made!

  • Thats called a good audience. There are some breakcore vids i saw here where the crowd aint dancing.... now thats funny.

  • That's cuz they know he's about to throw hell on them so they're waiting eagerly :)

  • i am totally agree.

  • God exists... and he makes the best fuckin' breaks you'll ever come across...!

    Do I hear... "AMEN"...? ;-)

  • rAmen!

  • IDM has allways been danceable, the thing is just because you can know what to do dosent mean you have to do it to do.

  • he proves that IDM is really danceable, free yourself of regular or usual metrics

  • They tryin to dance to this

  • The beat in itself is quite streight forward.

  • shut up and enjoy this magnificent tune.

  • wow!

  • This is probably the most innovative music around right now. Squarepusher has come up with a new musical language. THIS FUCKIN ROCKS.Just look at how he gets excited at particular moments in the song. Fuckin ace. Long may he continue to innovate. For all you Meatallica heads out there. This guy rules the world.

  • IDM!!!

PS- Fuck Iphone, and this is isn't Drum'N'Bass, Drill'N'Bass is better

  • chuchuneko - who gives a shiny green fuck what you call it? he's not a moron for calling it idm, idm is a very broad term.. this is definetly something that could be called idm. but does it even matter? it's just music.

  • I know, I know. I usually don't care but I was in an annoyed mood.

  • haha yeah its true no ones on illegal stuff anymore everyones hitting legals like m.drone and m.lone thank god for crappy uk laws othawise we'd be doomed ! haha squarepusher is 10 years in the future ahead of everyone at the moment this is like post dubstep/drum and bass lol haha i love the future - everyone get the iphone :)

  • Good track, but where is his bass?

  • Looks like it was in the morning... or a broad daylight... that's just...ridiculous. Whoever manages this festival is reproachable

  • I would kill somebody to see this guy live.

    Any volunteers?

  • pick jigglesnap (posted comments earlier in this vid)

  • mindblowing!!!!

  • just sick!

and the drugs aren't any worse than in the past - it only depends where you live :D!

  • look at them bobbing around

  • drugs.

  • yea bring them on!

  • Comment removed

  • ah fuck man people need to get over themselves!! there is no denying that drugs make music better!!! nobodys telling you to do it!!! shut the fuck up!!

  • Depends on the drugs, mate... There are no clean drugs these days, and the music sucks ass, but if you look back 10-40 years it's a different story. The drugs were great and so is the music from those times. Nowadays sober musicians are a whole lot fucking better.

  • I agree on the fact that drugs were probably better in th 60s, but come on, get high on acid to listen Jefferson Airplane,Tiny Tim or Joan Baez... No thanx ,I prefer Squarepusher and Afextwin. Just kidding, I dig Hendrix too...

  • Haha =] Yeah drugs may suck these days but at least we have more talent. A lot of people like to create now, instead of just outdoing everybody else for the sport of it.

  • this music hardly sucks

  • Of course it doesn't suck. But there's not much of the good stuff is there...

  • he is just playing a CD, behind that desk is a mircowave, the man is making a pot noddle and a cup of coco.

  • Probably XD

  • fucking love the music thou

  • check out cEvin Key if you're down with MIDI. especially old school Skinny Puppy. sampling masters!

  • Yes Yes Yes!!!!someone who agrees with me! I love Download!!!! Phil Western and cEvin Key!

  • don't forget about the original Download; cEvin and D.R. Goettel; RIP also if you like Download, check out Skinny Puppy vs Throbbing Gristle

Puppy Gristle. 45 minutes of the best, trippiest sampling i've ever encountered. THIS IS REAL NOISE..............

  • yeah the cEvin Key music for cats shit is awesome, its so fuckin weird.

  • this is massively good

can't stop hearing the melody when i'm not listening to it

    just pure smiles

  • Comment removed

  • amazing song!

  • He's actually playing and editing all the samples in real time, hence the fact it sounds different to the track version.

    you nobjockey.

  • It's exactly like the album version. There are a few points where he adds some extra effects, but that's it.

  • @jigglesnap

Well, it's all about realtime MIDI, no tricks, no DAT playback...

    Just check discogs release/55918

'Disc 2 - Alive In Japan. Recorded July 2001

2-4 Do You Know Squarepusher (5:01)'

And I really like it more than the studio version :-)

  • I actually agree. And I really like squarepusher. Hell, it's a payday for him and the crowd liked it.

  • @jigglesnap your not doing anything creative in life, you know. just wondering around spouting bullshit and trollin while killin the joy.

  • @dec20056 The truth will set you free

  • @jigglesnap ??? i wouldnt really care if was doing nuffin nyway HE made the music so it would be him showing his face basically, its like enjoyin the music with the person who made it. ALSO live performances are usually different in someway

  • too sick

  • Genius...

  • i've made up with a cute guy listening to this in my place...it was like taking drugs n having sex xD

    soo gooood

  • you should have thrown some bud or shrooms in the mix

  • or some cid for fuck's sake!

  • I hate it when people take drugs to enhance their music experience, or to get some deep meaning to life. So boring.

  • Have you listened to music under the influence of drugs ? I doubt it. The day you try it you'll understand...

  • i hate it when people are 1 dimentional, like you

  • "I'm better than you because I do illegal stuff."

I wouldn't mind if people didn't brag so much. it's like teenagers bragging about their first time.

  • Me too. But that wasn't your point you said at first. I only wanted to say you arn't right in this one because you've (very likely) never experienced it, and directly saying that it doesn't is pretty ignorant and "1 sided". don't take this as offence, but know where you talk about before post.... good day

  • But I never said it didn't. It just bores me.

  • true that

  • absolute brilliant song!!!

  • cool ^^

  • was that a wurlitzer he used to mix the thing?

  • one of the best Tom's song!

  • one of the worlds best
