Chicago IS progressive. That's why they voted for individual choice rather than a law that dictates how what people can eat and how people should live.
@savvysearch totally agree but that wasn't the point of the ban. It was an issue of animal welfare (force feeding poultry). I'm looking everywhere for it but I can't find one article that even mentions animal welfare in the Chicago repeal... are people just not informed about the whole controversy of force feeding or is it irrelevant to the issue of freedom to eat what you want?
Europe's two biggest consumers of foie, France and Spain, also have the longest life expectancies in the EU. Apparently, consuming foie gras has not had a serious affect on their existence (nor has smoking for that matter). You call yourself the "Foodieholic" yet you have no real food knowledge. Do us a favor. Go buy a new edition of "The Joy of Cooking." Learn something.
The banning of foie gras in certain areas of America is ridiculous. Take a look at Tyson chicken and the way their plants treat their animals. The production of foie is far more humane than factory farming of other animals in this country. Foie gras is sustainable, organic and a successful compliment to the slow food movement today.

@rgvcstupid I think foie gras is a nuanced, and defensible issue- but having 'stupid' in your name doesn't help in youtube debates.

This is awesome. Foie gras tastes fantastic and will help our economy.

This shows just how Daley treats Chicago like his personal fiefdom. That was not a vote, but a sham; it was an affront to Parliamentary Procedure.
