very soulfull..I heard this song when I was a child in Iran....tremolo part of this song reminds me of Barrios....I do have the transcription of this tune arranged by Dr. Afshar on Mel Bay..I'll try to learn it....Thanks.
@hapi44 Many non-Persian melodies are sung by Persians. Many popular Persian songs use scales and melodic contours that are not Persian. This is as Persian as some Persian disco and rap songs.
Great five stars. Hello Lily looks like now that I've found you. I can have my own private concert any time. Thank you! Your's :*) Mr. Samuel F. Campbell
Well, this is going to sound presumptious, but we invented the snare instrument. The very word "Guitar" derives from the word "Tar", which is Perian for "Snare". Not that i consider us superior or anything. But i do take pride in that, naturally.
cool. she plays really beautiful. I believe that Iranians can be the best musicians if they had the facilities and if they had good teachers to teach them technique. Only those who move out of the country I guess know that how technique is important. but I should admit that in the western society people are not as musical as we are. for them everything is about technique, and for us everything is about soul. If we combine the 2, we can be the best just like Jews.

when people compare a musician with another, it means that they don't understand the music but they just understand "copying". Copying what what most of people do.
I had the chance to attend at two of her master classes. She wasn't just teaching how to play, but it was how to understand the guitar soul...this is how she combines her solid technique with her passion. It was fantastic... I highly recommend it :)
I study performance at McGill University and my concentration is classical guitar. I have seen many concert guitarists, but none of them has inspired me as much as Dr. Afshar has ! Maybe because she is a woman playing guitar that well or maybe because we are both Persian ! But what I truly know is that, it is not in every life time that I meet such a great Soul ! and I am honored to have met her in this life time, she has had a huge influence on my music career...!
The first time i saw Dr.Afshar was at her concert. She played Koyunbaba marvelously that i think make her interpretation one of the best. Her selection of songs for concerts are unique, and sometimes personal, too; such as the one in the video. i recommend any of you to explore more of her music.

this melody is not persian in its roots. Lily should have studied the root of this folk song before adapting it.

Actually this melody is Persian and I have heard it sung by famous Persian singers. Before you criticize, do your homework..
