  • what i have to say about this video, is that simply you need to get your lining smoother and get them in one clean stroke and not go over them again like you just didl

  • I am learning to tattoo at the moment myself, and this is a great video! and I love this guy's attitude, my only gripe is that I have seen so much about how your lines should be one consistent Hard black like, in one stroke, isn't the way he is doing this reffered to as scratching? I'm not criticising in any way! I'mjust curious. any replies would helpalot! cheers for the video : )

  • I practice on myself

  • hey thanks man, this helped

ive done like 3 tattoos already just by tellin em it's free haha

  • @teatreee69 Glad you found this helpful. I hope our future as a tattoo artist is successfull. Let us know if any other videos helped you out!

  • many tattoo artist have there own style im an apprentise in a shop in england in the black country and my boss say when doing a line make sure your dont have to go over again but the guy in this video touchs up where line are finer, make and useing your own style make you your own tattoo artist not trying to do what everyone else is.

  • this guy does it with the tenderest syle, he barely penetrates the surface.

  • thats a very nice cover tattoo in my opinion. you have to use your imagination to cover something you dont want anymore or it just ends up looking like a big glob of crap. the snake across the old banner work nicely.

  • what brand of black ink do you recommend to outline?

  • @its42duh it doesnt matter if he knows how to do it or not or if he encourages scratchers or not does his tattooing affect your tattoo? and if the guy that got his arm done here didnt complain why are you. And no matter how many scratchers'' wtv that means im guessing people that are learning? no matter how many he encourages how does that affect your life in anyway does it affect anyone enough to give them the right for kids to insult a person this old? give me a break now

  • im buying a pro gun here soon! gonna go over all my scratcher tattoos. does any one have a good kit, needles or a good gun to recommend? please respond! also i need some new ink and i want as black as possible, any ides on that too?

  • @merlin173 im not just on about snakes! and i suppose there isn't a rule as such its just a good artist would know you never face things backwards. other than thats its a nice piece. but in my eyes its not perfect because of the placement! sorry just my opinion and roses can be any colour.

  • not a bad tattoo the only FAIL there is the snake is facing backwards! things should always look forward! so this design should be mirrored so the snake head is looking forward..

  • What a great guy! So refreshing to see someone being encouraging and sharing his knowledge, rather than the usual 'we're in a secret club' type of point-scoring types obsessed with petty one-upsmanship. You're a cool dude, Chip. If I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I'll look you up! Respect.

  • As someone who has gone about learning without a standard apprenticeship, I have to say what he says is pretty good. It does not mean his art work is great, but the line work so far looks clean. Sure it could look better, but to each their own. If the client is happy and comes back then who cares what anyone else's opinion is of the tattoo? He is doing a coverup, so obviously there are certain aspects he has to work around. Scale work would look better, but we dont know what the guy wanted

  • Man I wish I'd cross hatched instead of taking the time to do individual scales like I did on my clients.

  • it just looks bad because its not done yet but it will look good wen finished

  • i love how careful he goes over the lines

  • which is the inner and which is the outer part of the snake'?....I think he messed it up a little....

  • Bananas are good to practice on, just a thought.

  • Is it true you shouldn't be drinking when you get a tattoo? I heard that if you do drink it will force the ink out, i did my own tattoo with a homemade gun, and the ink is still there lol

  • @samstterhamstteer agreed

  • that guy has a hell of a steady hand.

  • not critisizing just a question..how come the guy tattooing seems to be almost sketching??i was told not to sketch the lines in but to if possible do it in one definite pass?

  • @dngcat

    he's making the line thicker

  • @dngcat you know, when I was learning how to tattoo I also worked as a caricature artist at legoland and by doing caricatures i really got it down how to make strokes, a tattoo outline is just a matter of a series of strokes based on hierarchy of form but it all depends of the style of the tattoo...try drawing caricatures and your outlining will improve i guarantee...

  • @BillySmith187 thanks for the tips mate :)

  • @Getlowboss hi . mabe try turning the voltage up a little more . i had the same problem when i started . if that doesnt work mabe put the needle in the tube very carefully the slightest knock will blunt the needle

hope that helps , good luck

  • you have to have a reason when you are doing a tattoo .

tattooing is a way of comunication with other people and a different way to express your fealings.

  • @romas1995

or you just like art, and wana make money at the same time. i dono

  • GREAT cover up <3

  • nice and clean , a true profesional

  • how come when he wipes that fake skin doesnt make a mess all around

  • @MrHitman1959 Because he isn't using "fake skin", the skin he is tattooing belongs to a Living, Feeling Human Being :o)

  • Comment removed

  • Took me a while to notice this, but that is a very good cover up tattoo, One problem I always have is trying to find good new ideas for cover ups, great cover up idea!

  • cheers fella some good advice...

  • oh ok then thank you very much i just got a tatto on july 1st but its been a whle and it looks like if theres, hve benn a scarr there and theres like a whit e scarr on it but the ink is black and it was my daughters name that says brianna on my inner arm part by the folding part by tha elbow and my question is that if the color is going to stay like that or comeback.. most of it has healed already.. i could send u a text pic thoughy to look at at a phone if you want...

  • to all the Haters..go to hell! this man share his knowledge,no matter what he share it will help others.thanks for sharing your ideas and more power!

  • This guy is good. Those are good lines. Although cross hatching for scales is a real cop out. They're good lines hehe.

  • @spudfurfy He's going over the lines to perfect them. The original rose looks faded if that's what you're referring to because it's an older tattoo, he is adding the snake onto it.

  • @cerealKI113R oh right okie dokie

  • other than fake skin the closet actual substitute for human flesh is pig

  • Why do so many people not know that you can practice on the bottom of your foot? Seriously, if you keep walking while the tat is healing, it falls out. In three weeks, you have a new canvas to practice on.

  • ok lets say that his been tatooing for a while but why is he doing the tattoo so slow....

  • @Creeper86 its called patience and paying atention to fine detail if he was going fasthes more likely to make a mistake

  • @insanezy Right. With experience comes perfection and speed does come, but it's not the kind of speed you'd draw a picture with.

This is good in respect of clear line but not so much in respect of design.

And for that much, it's good work.

  • can i ask you what machine set up using on those black line you seem to be going over and over them

  • im 13 and my cousin said if i practice drawing i can do a tattoo on him

  • dude from a training tattoo artist. take the time to practice more than just drawing before attempting to tattoo anyone

  • Listen Fella.....You are just a Very tender Thirteen.....You have so much much time ahead of you,If you focus first on your Art & Drawing in some two three years begin practicing using a machine......My freind you will be an artist befreind the local tattooist NOW so when you 16 you can talk yourself right into an apprenticeship wish I knew you I would happily train you knowing theres a chance to mould a potential award winning artist.Keep motivated.

  • Oh and DONT use a machine on ANYONE freind or not if you mess up you will do big time...yoiur freind has it for life depending on how big and the colour as to weather it can be covered dont mess with something you have lil knowledge of...Or open a can of worms.

  • what this man is saying is right there is no substitute for practice skin but actual skin, if your trying to learn experience either find people that would let you practice on them wich is goin to be very hard to find , so my advice give up on one leg

  • thats wat i did

  • uh, if you even knew the first thing about tattooing you would know how stupid that comment is

  • really all these assclowns dont even know what their talking about

  • i like how he goes over those same 2 lines OVER and OVER through the whole video.

  • he looks like he knows what he is doing, but i cant hear what he is saying! lol that tat looks wicked thought! and yeah guys shut up be greatful he is even giveing the advice i know some people who would just laugh at you and tell you to leave if your not going to buy anything.

  • Nice linework ,and good advice!! As long as you use new needles and tips and keep your work area clean, you can tattoo whoever you want regardless if your client care about the look of the tat. Practice make perfect!!!

  • size does matter!!!!! the bigger, the more expensive including color

  • Hay at least he is givin it a go you guy r rude!

  • how much does a tatoo like that cost?

  • depends where you get it

  • depends where you live

  • o m g

  • the last 4 seconds was all anybody needs to hear.
