Can you imagine how awesome it would have been to attend a music festival with ELO, Kansas, and The Moody Blues? Today's artists could learn a thing or two from such professionals.
THIS WAS CLASSIC..I use to watch a lot of Don Kirchner, not too much of Midnight Special because I just couldn't find it back then and I see I miss a classic.... Thanks for the upload!
I may have misunderstood Robin's meaning by accelerating. Maybe he meant in an uplifting way. But, to me it does sound like someone is rushing the beat. It can be anyone in the band, but usually the front person or the drummer. I've performed live for ye ars and it happens a lot. A song can start at 120 BMP and end at 130! Thanks for the dialogue!
By, pushing, (he) means he is rushing the song. Listen to how the piano seems to fall in late in some places. It is actually Jeff rushing the beat. Is is faster than the record, and sometimes stage monitors can cause this problem- sometimes excitement! Still, live is so much better than sync. Listen to the later concerts like PBS 2001, Jeff is so relaxed, there. All are GREAT performances
I thought I had seen all the Midnight Special videos, but this looks different to me. Not bad for a song that Jeff says he wrote quickly at the last minute. Shows how much Jeff desperately needed more background vocals to reproduce his sound live.
definately wasn't their best performance .... give a 5 out of 10 vote

@Cheshowjr Thank you for that explanation. :-) I'd never heard it put quite that way before.
