If you check the date on the regimental pen of The Judge Advocate General's Corp that I proudly wore on my chest for three years, you will see the year 1775. The 2nd oldest Corp. Don't throw any shit at the Army, because when this country was fighting for it's birth, your branch was an afterthought. Remember who's your Daddy? I never see any Marine unit involved in a spec ops mission. However, Marine Recon earns respect!
@smatanic the corps formed MARSOC.it is under USSOCOM.they formed it specifically to become part of SOCOM.the Marines will say they didnt do it along time ago because there are no elite amongst an elite corps. truth is there SOC unit was Recon,but the SEAL'sdid the same job and were believed to be more proficient. basically not needed.so many missions thru SOCOM just went to there Army, Navy,and AF assets.MARSOC did deploy to stan though.they didnt do so hot.

E Co, 2/46 Infantry and I have the scars to this day to prove it! I recently have watched some specialized combat training for certain branches and such. And I'm like, shit I went through almost similar endurance at the "Knox" for the MOS of 71D JAGC. Love me or hate me, I'm born and bread from the "School of Hard Knox"! This is awesome! I went through Fort Knox for my Basic Training back in August of 2000. These photos show me that not much has changed on the courses or the barracks. Got me thinking of the road marches, the hills( Heartbreak). Go Army!

I forgot to mention this is one of my favorite vids from Ft Knox, especially the part where the 1st Sgt is getting into some Privates case! The first time I saw it was last year just before I left for Knox. Although my barracks was north of these ones, the BCT recruits trained in the same locations (obstacle, brm, gas chamber, etc). I hate Ft Knox while i was there, but now I miss it...

was at Ft Knox 4 Aug 09-30 Oct 09. the only place I hated there was the Reception barracks. I was a holdover for non-combat MOS BCT. I will say this: between Ft Knox and Ft LW, Ft Knox food was better!
I was there last year. 2nd Platoon Bravo 5/46. Our barracks were in Disneyland, near the Tankers and Cav Scouts. Loved it! I recognize the O-course, gas chamber, etc. Brings back some memories!
Wow I just graduated Thursday from Fort Knox with Bravo 2-46 2nd Platoon 2nd Battalion 46th Infantry, those were some good times except heart break and poor mans hill!
@bandingo14 Fort Benning, Ga has a higher attrition rate than both paris island and San Diego for the Marine corps. It's actually almost a quarter more during the summer months actually. THose (93%) maybe can be said for places like Fort Jackson and Fort Knox but Benning leads the way. Gotta love 6 miles in full ACU'S, boots and 102 degrees farenheit. I've never puked so much in my entire life!
Try Rug sack 16k ( 10 mile ) road march with heat index combining farenheit and humidity 124 degrees in Kentucky at Fort Knox during summer months with all due respect that is.

@AmericanGMS 2-46 and 1-46 are BCT for all the POG's that come through Knox before their AIT. Cav Scout OSUT is done under 5-15 Cav.

@zorrocolorado007 hahaha, i did OSUT there in 01 and i remember shining my boots every night. i miss BDU's. i think ACU's are a good field uniform, but BDU's with black boots are necessary in garrison. it taught me a level of pride and attention to detail that these new soldiers are seriously lacking. i'm a DS at Benning now and i'm seeing some of the sorriest shit ever...

I went to t jackson and our smokings started with high crawl then to low crawl then 3-5 second rushes for 2 hrs it sucked but was the most memorible 9 weeks of my life!!!!

I forgot to mention this is one of my favorite vids from Ft Knox, especially the part where the 1st Sgt is getting into some Privates case! The first time I saw it was last year just before I left for Knox. Although my barracks was north of these ones, the BCT recruits trained in the same locations (obstacle, brm, gas chamber, etc). I hate Ft Knox while i was there, but now I miss it...

was at Ft Knox 4 Aug 09-30 Oct 09. the only place I hated there was the Reception barracks. I was a holdover for non-combat MOS BCT. I will say this: between Ft Knox and Ft LW, Ft Knox food was better!

I was there last year. 2nd Platoon Bravo 5/46. Our barracks were in Disneyland, near the Tankers and Cav Scouts. Loved it! I recognize the O-course, gas chamber, etc. Brings back some memories!

@bandingo14 Fort Benning, Ga has a higher attrition rate than both paris island and San Diego for the Marine corps. It's actually almost a quarter more during the summer months actually. THose (93%) maybe can be said for places like Fort Jackson and Fort Knox but Benning leads the way. Gotta love 6 miles in full ACU'S, boots and 102 degrees farenheit. I've never puked so much in my entire life!

Oh the memories! Did my time in 1987 during the hottest months of the year! Had a D.I. with the last name "Manson" as in Charles Manson! FUBAR!!! Left my good back somewhere on MIsery, Agony and Heartbreak, but made it through and on to an Honorable ETS 3 years later. Just got a military service ring with the the artwork (Hell on wheels) & "School of Hard Knox". It's sad they're moving Armor to Ft. Benning. Ft. Knox will always be a M1A1 Abrams rolling 2ft by me on a hot damn dirty road march!

I don't care if your DI/DS beat you with a whip for 12 weeks. No matter how long and hard your boot camp is it still won't have you ready for war. Experience makes a Soldier and a Marine. BTW I'm an Army Paratrooper that has been to war and back 4 times already and I am pretty confident that I am better than any Marine out of boot camp.
