thanks for the info i have a zune 120gb that was just given to me with a bad hard drive so i might have a new one here in about a week after i get the hard drive out and replaced. but the video was very helpful.

try to just undo the battery thats what i did and it worked.

The reason why it was stuck was because you tried to turn it on when the backing was off. EVERYTHING must be put together before you try to turn it on. That is how the other guy got his back working.

I've had my battery for like 3-1/2 years, originally it lasted 6-7 hours, now I get 2 hours, but just a couple days ago it stopped working at all. But whats bad is the thing froze then stopped working. I think I need a new battery.

Best Buy told me that the battery will not last much more than a year and that it will cost about $80 to have Microsoft replace it each time, and suggested I get a two year service plan for $70, which would take care of two battery replacements and cover any damage due dropping, water, etc. Could someone tell me if they think the plan is a good idea or a waste of money (as many service plans are)? Extended warranties are one of the biggest wastes of money. Not only do I believe this, I have read about it in various articles. I bought the 120gb about 7 months ago and it is working just as well now as it was then. I use it almost day (5 days a week in my car, 4 or 5 days a week when I bike).

Save your money! You can buy a new battery on ebay for under $20.

that is the same problem with my zune i would not load past the loading screen and the cable that you unplugged was for the buttons the one for the hard drive is on the bottom of the hard drive

i need help with the second gen 4gb zune. one day i was listening to it and it just shut off on me. i tried to turn it on but it wont. i checked everything. i tried plugging it to a computer and using the back and down buttons and the play button but it doesnt work. the only thing i could try is pressing up center and play but my up on zune pad is broke and just goes down when i press up. i need some fuckn help. can anyone solve this problem?!

I have disconnected only the battery three times.The zune logo flashes when plugged into an outlet and that is it. Should I take it apart again and disconnect the other cable also. I am so frustrated! Thank you

holy crap lol i just took my zune apart and then put it together and that keeps happening to me it just shows the logo for about 2-3 seconds and turns off and keeps doing that over and over again... if you find out why please HELP!!!

I know... I posted an edit in the MORE INFO on the right. I didn't realize it until later when I fully took it apart and found the hard drive cable under the hard drive's frame.

the battery reset works just fine just dont connect to the zune software again until they fix the problem.

Holy shit thx so much man it worked! (note: u may have to leave the battery and hardrive disconnected for about 10-20 mins and do it a couple of times but it works plus i wouldnt risk syncing it till tommorow.

Ummm I did this and it actually Did work but now my buttons don't work except my hold button..

recheck the connector for the keypad... the way the cable curves makes it prone to going down between the hard drive and the connector and missing the connection.

I went back and took the whole thing apart... hoping that maybe there was a cmos battery on the circuit board... nope. The only power source is the battery pack... so disconnecting the hard drive after you disconnect the battery is pointless.
