  • hmmmm, I wonder did Phantasy Star copied Final Fantasy

  • hey happy console gamer, should phantasy star 3 be in the list of the best sega genesis/mega drive games? I didnt really understand if the game was good or not. Its expansive too buy so I want to know what you think first. please respond.

  • Fun fact, the fanmade indie game 'Pier Solar' uses a 64 MegaByte Genesis cartridge! And it works fully on any of the authentic Sega Genesis and Mega Drive systems!

Often we abandon console generations before we can really exploit the full potential of them.

  • yeah i like this video but fans of final fantasy thought phantasy star as a rip-off

  • I actually liked PH 3 the only thing was that it was a bit slow and i didnt particuarly like all the different endings too many choiches.

But i didnt like PH 2 at all mainly to do with the fighting scenes it all felt robotic instead of.... fantasy its suppose to be fantasy like even the enviroments were robotic so big no no. PH 4 is great but there pretty much ends the good saga of PH then they destroyed its reputation sad to say and todays kids dont even know what they are playing.

  • @DRock7977:

Phantasy Star has always been about sci-fi and even steampunk-type settings. The Phantasy Star 2 (PS2) text adventures with Kain's story has an even greater emphasis on 'dystopian cyberpunk future' which was really awesome to go through. I'd highly recommend watching a 'longplay' of all the text adventures because it is worth it to have background on the PS2 characters.

The 'fantasy' elements aren't even medieval fantasy, they're futuristic (final fantasy) style.

  • @jcdenton2k I have no idea what Steampunk means,

    or dystopian cyberpunk lol.

Could you say that in english again and not some fancy made up? word.

And whatever u say it should still be about fantasy mostly mixed with some robotic flair.

  • @DRock7977:

    Just.Fucking.Google.It.Dot.Com

    :P

  • phantasy star sold pretty well in japan and especially europe

  • I was actually collection the original phantasy star games for a playthrough, I recently finished PS1 which was no easy task with the amount of graph paper I had to draw on, im actually glad they got rid of the first person dungeons on PS2 because they were just really disorienting. Though when I am finished I was just gonna go onto PS4 since from what ive read 3 doesnt really have much significants on the overal plot and 4 is really the true sequel to 2.

  • You have the segagaga shirt, can you review that game, please?

  • I've beaten PS1 and PS3. PS1 was fun, it was the only thing i was playing on my Wii, and PS3, yeah, it was boring and annoying at times, but when I beat the game.... so satisfying.

  • PSIII grows on you, it is a black sheep but it has some lasting appeals. the story is interesting when you finally come into it a bit. PSIV is by far the best 16-bit rpg ever...

love your reviews and it's awsome to see that I'm not the only big fan of this franchise. (just wish SEGA would make the true sequal PSV soon)

  • @ScarecrowCruz I agree PSIV was the dogs nuts. The only game i have ever shed a tear in. I couldn't even action replay her back to life. There was nothing i could do :(

  • I also love the Phantasy Star Series Mate! :)

Actually I am currently doing a playthrough of the first one, and plan to continue through the series 2, 3, 4....

Everyone is invited to check them out. :D

  • Phantasy Star is... magic.

I love various RPGs, but Pstar has something that, for me, is unbeatable untill now. And I am not even sure of what it is.

  • The reason why PS1 bombed in sales, was cause the company, media did NO marketing, even the cover was lame! But the game inside not only was an epic storyline and gameplay, but changed the game industry and RPG trends forever!

  • Jonny, time to do some new console reviews, like iphone, xbox 360 and classic PC games! :D

  • Jonny , I love your show , it´s one best of internet , keep making this great work

    Greetings from Brazil .

  • Man, I was sad when I found out I killed Red Ring Rico in PSO ep1. You don't really see her, or even talk to her, but everyone builds her up as a badass. And i'm glad I wasn't the one who had to break it to her father, the chief.

"Yeah your daughter mutated into a giant monster, and I killed her with a scythe I stole from an evil robot."

    "..."

    *Has a heart attack*

  • Phantasy Star Collection for the GBA is one to get because it has the first three games in one

  • Is that the master sword and hylian shield on the bottom left side of the screen at the start of the video? Are those real? Were can i get those?

  • Damn, you're a complete fan of PS. I FREAKIN' LOVE YOU BRO KEEP UP THE GOOD JOB :D

  • At 4:45 there is an orb at the bottom of the screen.

  • I started with Phantasy Star Online

  • PS 1 made me a gamer xD it's my golden game!

Thumbs Up if PS 1 if u think PS the best game ever

  • You know what man, i 'get' why u loved the dungeon feel for PS1, but i HATED it ONLY cause it was sooo easy to get lost and loose track of where you are.

  • i cant believe there are dislikes on this review, what a shame i thought its very thorough and lead to power up and play some phatasy star on my genny

  • I actually liked Phantasy star 3 more than 4 simply because 4 was too easy for me and 3 had a story with multiple endings, literally one of the first games that has multiple endings.

  • When I was a kid, the first PS game I played was the third I loved it, yea it was boring but the story was so solid. Now I'm older, and have tried to get into the others, and just can't seem to. You should make a video, and explain the story a bit, I want to get interested enough to play the other 3 originals

  • 4:44 a ghost D:

  • I LOVE PHANTASY STAR 3!!

(medieval style with future weapons, ancient artifacts, living on a huge spaceship,

Jack-i mean Dark Force on a Box,. everything's great!)

  • could ya spare a cup of cola? THANKS! By the way, Phantasy Star 3 was pretty awesome for story line and some aspects, i recommend playing 3 again and again

the graphics and breadth of gameplay was awesome

  • That hint book for Phantasy Star 2 goes for quite a lot of dosh now on eBay. I saw it for about $100! To think my ex chucked mine out thinking it was another brochure. BITCH!!!!

  • Am I the only person who actually LIKED Phantasy Star 3. There was just so much replay value and the game was actually really good. I mean compared to the other phantasy star games it is not as good but I still love Phantasy Star 3.

  • I agree, PS3 is a very good game

  • i have never played any ps game, but now im gonna give ps2 a try...cuz everybody says its the best one in the series...

  • What do you think about official Phantasy Star Online 2 announcement?

  • Phantasy Star 1,1st RPG I played 1988 9th grade,classic!!!!!!!

  • Nothing will ever feel like Phantasy Star 2. This makes me sad and angry.

  • I actually like the background in 2....it was futuristic to me

  • i like how you look over at 4:52 =p

  • do you know about my favorite rpg series .hack//sign and .hack//g.u.

  • Phantasy Star 4 is easily my favorite from the entire series.

  • What are the boxes on the far far left?

  • Is that a dust bunny at 4:45 floating on the bottom?

  • wow it seems so weak saying this but phantasy star 3 was the game that got me into the series and then i discovered 2 and 4 and eventually 1 but phantasy star 3 was so great with the generations and choosing who to marry and getting story and characters according to the decisions you made it just made me want to start playing it again after i had beaten one possible ending and after playing 3 with all its possible endings and stuff i was a little disappointed when the others were not the same

  • the epic feeling you get by really explore every dungeon of the first PS by drawing your own maps and such. no game today gives you this feeling. I miss the 8-bit and 16-bit era. also, may be alone on this one but, PSIII is really an underrated masterpiece. You allways makes great vids, thanks.

  • PS 2 is my fav rpg of all time

and yes PS 3 sucked :(

  • Man, Phantasy Star 2 was one of the best RPG's I have ever played. One aspect of the game that really called to me which you did not mention was the music. Awesome music man. The graphics and story were some of the best for its time. It truly was an RPG ahead of its time. The ending, when Nei sacrificed her self, I was like OMG. This RPG is definitely on my top 3 of best RPG's of all time.

  • I have phantasy star collection(1-3 )for GBA and i love/hate the 3d dungeons they are cool and annoying

  • Phantasy Star II Is the first RPG game I ever played, But i was too young to get into It. The Only thing I remember is The Music and Naming The Main Character Dick. Its a shame cuz if i was a few years older that game wouldve begin my RPG Journey earlier.

  • Do I see a red box that says Super Street fight 4??

  • @AnimeObsessedMark no phantasy star 4

  • I'm a little surprised you didn't mention the ultra rare Phantasy Star remake on the Mega Drive, considering you have the box standing there on your desk.

  • @RetroVGamer I will mention it soon!

  • @HappyConsoleGamer The thing that always confused me was that the back of the box shows the regular SMS Phantasy Star. I also read a review of the game online years ago and the screenshots had updated graphics. Ever since then I've been confused. Anyway, thanks!

  • @HappyConsoleGamer do you know Phantasy Star 2 is coming out next year?

  • @HappyConsoleGamer oops i meant Phantasy Star Online 2

  • HappyConsoleGamer if this helps U I just read wikipedia article on Phantasy Star II and didn't see anything about it using about a special compression chip but star ocean released in July 1996 used one the S-DD1 which for snes games 48 MB was the limit of an snes cartridge. Also keep in mind that the nintendo 64 had just came out in Japan a month earlier which used 64 MB cartridges

  • @SEAnimeForever You may be confusing megaBITS with megaBITES

Star ocean was 5.1MB and Super Mario 64 6.0MB Its impressive what they did though.

  • @draaktatsu You may be confusing megaBITES with megaBYTES

  • i got my PSP like 1 mounth ago and i bouth Dissidia and Phantasy Star Portable with it and they are just amazing! I love Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy I like FF little more then PS but I love PS to death! but i think PS 3 is a pretty good game :) its my second favorite of the Genesis ones PS4 is the best :) what i dont like about PS2 is the battles cuz like u said no background

  • @AnimeistehLIFE47 i got a psp on ebay for 500 bucks i no i got ripped of but i bought daxter for it and it worked for 3 months then i got a memory card for it and monster hunter united and i played it for 6 mins then boom it started to smoke the psp waste of money good system

  • here i was thinking there were only 2 phantasy star games LOL

  • i'm playing phantasy star 4 on my megadrive now and it's beyond anything i could have expected, its awsome! Apparently it was going to be a sega CD release with all the 3D dungeon bits in but due to the unfortunate short comings of the Mega CD they decided to go with a cartride release and compleatly overhauled the game!

I wonder if the completed software still exists somwhere, i would pay anything to play that!!!!

  • awsome vid

  • Long Intro.... (^_^)

  • I'm currently playing Phantasy Star IV (on my PSP thrpugh the Sega Mega Drive Collection), it's the first Phantasy Star game I've played. Pity they didn't do the 3D dungeons.

  • thanks so much much for this, brought a tear to my eye.

Can't remeber how much of my youth was based around all these games.

Got all but one ending on 3 and you are right about number 3

  • Wonderful review! I also love the wall of stuff behind you :)

  • I hate that Phantasy Star didn't take off, everyone rants about Final Fantasy but Phantasy Star took a left turn and it was great. No game at the time told a story like Phantasy Star: IV with the comic book style story telling. Not to say Final Fantasy is bad but it just didn't have the same impact when told with sprites.

  • I actually liked PS3, because one of the endings gave some answers as to what happened in PS2.

  • Phantasy Star 1 was one of the greatest games of all time, no friggen lie. I was so glad I got ahold of a sega master system and came across that game. I remember seeing the graphics for it in a Sears catalogue and just had to buy it. Boy was I BLOWN AWAY by how good of a game it was. The graphics were top notch, the story was excellent and those dungeons were so ahead of their time. I was playing Ultima Exodus on the NES around that time, and PS was just as good, if not better in many ways!

  • There is a factory sealed Phantasy Star I on ebay for sale right now!!

  • I'm actually one of the few that appreciates PS3: Generations of Doom.

Four generations of adventure, parallax scrolling battles, and an epic story...its still a good megadrive RPG and another good example of the PS series always trying to push the RPG genre ever forward. Although it did need a little more polish.

I definitely love the 3D dungeons of the original. I read somewhere that PS4:EOTM was to be a Sega-CD release with many additional features...

  • Oh, Phantasy Star IV. Definitely my favorite in the original series! The gameplay is absolutely awesome, and so is the story. And the manga-ish cutscenes just did it for me. Made it so much more engaging. They could display emotions so nicely.

  • There are tons of comments on this video, so you may already have been told this, but Phantasy Star IV was originally planned as a Sega CD game and was going to be longer, have CD-quality music (some of which can be found on KHInsider), have better graphics, and have the 3D-style dungeons, but it got scrapped when the Sega CD's sales dropped further and Sega settled with a cartridge version. Still one of my all-time favorites, but it hurts to know what could've been.

  • I just started playing Phantasy Star II on my Sega Genesis Collection for the Psp & man it's good i should try out the first one & fourth one since there good games. =)

P.S. If you collect game soundtracks there's a four disc soundtrack of all four Phantasy Star games & it's called Phantasy Star 1st Series Complete Album.

  • I'm making my way through Phantasy Star I on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection right now and it's awesome! I'd never play a Phantasy Star game before but I can't wait to play through the rest.

  • The original is the best and most complex of the series. It's highly enjoyable too if you can manage to figure out most or all of the clues on your own.

  • @Persona3200

I own all 3 for the Genesis (II, III, IV.)

Starting with II and doing II then IV. I'm going to do the original one last because it's damn hard.

  • lol the soilder at 1:50 looks like a Clone Trooper from Star Wars

  • Phantasy Star III is the game of my life, is the first RPG I saw. Before Final fantasy series

  • can you send me your shows theme song??

  • He nailed my feelings exactly about Phantasy Star II. The lack of battle background and 3-D dungeons was a big departure... in a bad way. This screenshot of PSII with 3D dungeon almost bring a tear to my eye. Imagine how amazing this game would have been. First time I see it but it look so right. It look like the original Phantasy Star but on Genesis.

  • If i wanna play number 4, do I need to play the other games first?

  • PS IV is best of the first batch. & idc what people say, PSO ver. III is amazing.

  • @drewskione

    Actually

    C.A.R.D. Revolution was Ver. IV

    Why?

Because ver. II and episode 2 aren't the same game, Episode II was made for Episode 1 and 2, look it up

  • One of my favorite series!!!

  • Phantasy Star 4 is awesome, I never get tired of playing it. Such an epic game.

  • I'm absolutely agree

  • phantasy star 4 is one of the best sega rpgs ever....and i played lots of Snes rpgs.

  • I always found the Scenario of Ps1 is very much like the Star Wars Movies

  • The only thing really bad about Phantasy Star 3 in my opinion are the battles. The battles are what killed my interest in it. The battles are terrible, i mean come on? The battle controls seems like its made towards the 5-7 years old audience group. The monsters are so terrible as well. Sega did a shitty job on the battle sequence on Phantasy Star 3.

  • Phantasy star is the best

  • wow man, it would be so cool to play games with you ^__^

  • gawd!! PSO BEST PS GAME!

  • i used to love the dungeon crawlers aswell, that why shining in the darkness is one of my fave games

  • PS is better than FFVII will ever be for Death scenes. Final Fantasy 7 doesnt hold crap compared to any of the PS games IMO.

  • spoken like a true PS fan :D

  • @RocmanRaz ya i agrea woth u 100% i mean theres nothing wrong with final fantasy but ps is so much better

  • @RocmanRaz amen brother, truer words have never been spoken!

  • @RocmanRaz WHat sort come comparison is this? So you comparing the first PS to FFVII. Simply laughable....insecure sega fans.

  • Lol. No, what is laughable is that most people find the death scene in FFVII to be so amazing like it has never been done in a game, when it has....numerous times in the past. But most people worship FFVII and don't delve into the classics like PS, SMT or even Lunar to find out there is more depth in other games.

  • @123doomdoom ff7 sucks

  • @animedude752 nah ff7 doesnt suck. looking at the game by itself, its a fantastic game. compared to PS, PS is better but ff7 does not suck at all.

  • @alexg42288 Well thats your opinion. I hated ff7 absolutely hated it.If you're a fan of the game that's okay and everyone has different opinions but me i just hated it.

  • @animedude752 i 100% guarentee if you played that game for about 4-5 hours you wouldnt be able to put it down. if you like RPG games, which you obvisouly do since you like PS, then you should give it another shot. your really missing out man. just a friendly piece of advice from one gamer to another

  • @alexg42288 I played through the first disk then sold it cause i didn't like it..Guess i shouldn't of done that seeing how much the game is selling for online.200$ for a new copy mine was barley used.

  • @RocmanRaz don't even compare that crappy game to phantasy star!

  • @animedude752 I salute you good sir. There is no comparison. :) PS is fantastic.

  • Mmp mmp mmp mmp. (Jamming to intro music.)

I always knew this day would come...

That grid from the second game sucks!

  • I also think PSIV is the best in the series, but Universe better than Online? You must be crazy :P

  • Thanks for the insightful review. I tried only PhS2, and it somehow didn't grab my attention - i guess your vid explains why. Now i'm convinced i should go backwards to PhS1 and probably will enjoy it.

  • Hey man, I dont know if you know this but there's a secret room with a chest in the original PS1 in medusa's tower. I've checked the internet and nobody mentions it in faq's, maps, etc...

  • I would love a list of everything you have

  • I have phantasy star 2-4 on my copy of sonics ulitmate genesis collection. But I can't seem to get into them. But I'll try one day.

  • that sonics segas collection also has phantasy star 1, all you have to do is beat the whole act 1 of sonic 2, with two players , and you will unlock phanatsy star 1, or check the extras on the menu or check online to see how to do it, so you can start it from the begging. I just beat the 4th one yesterday, i started part one the begging of Augst for the 1st time. and just beat the 4 the one yesterday, truly a great story and game, hope this helps.

  • have you heard of Vay ,Shining force, poful mail, secret of the stars,or sword of vermillion?

  • Oh Shining Force is a classic series! I still play the Shining Force games, after so long.

  • shining force cd was the best sega cd game IMO

  • Yeah Shining Force CD was great, I liked Shining Force 2 a lot too. Shining the Holy Ark for the Saturn is a classic too.

  • What goes across the table at 4:45?

  • LOL the camera picks up amazing things like a speck of dust floating by.

  • I think your house is haunted! lol

  • Someone needs to make an animated series out of the original Phantasy Star. (I'm partial to the first.) When I was a kid, there were great toons on TV (e.g., Voltron, GIJOE, Robotech, MOTU, Ronin Warriors, and so on). Phantasy Star would do great on the small screen, as long as the look and feel of the game is maintained.

  • @HappyConsoleGamer

are you sure that was not an orb of a ghost which took off when you said 'take off'?

    great review BTW.

  • @HappyConsoleGamer or maybe it was a ghost. ^_^

  • A lot of people didn't realize that Phantasy Star III is one of the two ships that escape from the planet near the end of Phantasy Star II. That for me was huge, I loved having that plot hole filled. Knowing that I realized that Phantasy Star III is more like a 'Gaiden' Game to the original 4 Phantasy Stars. So you shouldn't let it 'taunt' the originals too much. Its still great. I should review that one soon.

  • Zactly, I've heard so many people say "PS3 isn't a real PS game, or it didn't follow the storyline". Those people weren't following things closely enough, or neglected to do a certain side quest in PS4 that explained a lot. It was my least favorite of the series, but not a bad RPG by any means.

Great videos HCG! It's refreshing to see videos of the oldschool games I grew up loving without some Generation X nitwit cutting them to pieces and cussing every 5 seconds.

  • I think Phantasy Star III is really great, it has a few plottwists and things going on it it that I like and the characters are cool. it's a sidestory but still good enough for a 6 or 7 out of 10...

  • YOU ROCK! You've got me into playing those series again! Thank you! You're epic!

  • We need a new online Phantasy Star on PS3. i would love that!

  • this guy really nos wat hes talking about, video game expert

  • One thing that alot of people forget to mention is how expensive phantasy star 4 was when it came out.

Even by todays standards $99.99 is overpriced, I could not get my parents to get me this game till the price dropped.

  • I think there's a beta of PSIV around that showed it was originally going to be for the Sega CD (hence how they would've brought back the 3D dungeon crawler look) and would've have cinematic cut scenes like the Lunar series but since the SCD was dying off, Sega decided to instead have the game be a Genesis game.

  • I HAVE PSU AND PS2 FOR THE 360

  • i beat the second one it was awsome

  • About the hint book comment:

PS2 did not originally come out with the hint book. The thing is, so many gamers complained about the dungeons, they started packaging the game book with it.

  • i just bought the ultimate sega collection for the ps3, 2,3 and 4 are on it. looking forward to playing them.

  • + 1

  • lol yeah i saw its an unlockable once i got the game

  • leet music.

  • I played Phantasy Star 2, 3 and 4 before the first one.

What amazes me is how different impression Phantasy Star 2 and 3 had on me.

When I first started to play Phantasy Star 2 I barely knew what an RPG was and it totally blew me away because I neighter expected battle backgrounds or 3D dungeons. For me simply getting to build charachters, buying equipment and levling up was something entirely new. And the story was also incredible compared to other games I played at the time, like Sonic....

  • When I got the third one, I was not disappointed because that I was not really expecting it to be anything else than something similar to Phantasy Star 2. And exept for the medieval look it still felt like the same kind of game at the time. The only thing that I really missed was the cool character animations from Phantasy star 2.

Phantasy Star 4 was simply exellent.

When I finally got to play the first one I was surprised by how good it was, because I wasn`t expecting much from a 8-bit game.

  • I realized that Phantasy Star 1 was better than its sequel, just like you. The dungeons were 3-dimensional and the battle backgrounds actually had detail. On the negative side, though, those 3D dungeons are confusing enough to require you to make maps on a graphing notebook.

  • I preferred 2 over 1. My order or preference was: 4, 2, 1, 3. You're right though, one was great and way ahead of it's time. If they would have put a little overhead map in the corner of the screen it would have immensely in those dungeons. They could have made it a challenge by making you find a map first in a chest to take advantage of it though.

I used graph paper and made my own maps. I'd probably still be trying to sift through Baya Malay all these years later without them.

  • ps 12and 4 r some of my favorite games

my fav games r goldeneye chrono trigger morrowind ecco 12 and dotf psi ops nnja gaiden for the xbox runescape shining force all the sim games all the pokemon games dbz tenkieechy 3 dbz legosy of goku 1 2 and buus fury super metroid i got alot more that i cant remember

  • I have to say that this is my favorite channel here on Youtube now. I always look forward to the new stuff you put out. Great stuff! Keep it coming!

  • i love the phantasy star music

  • One of the very few game reviewers online that's original and doesn't try to rip off avgn.

  • i thought part III was good nut not as great as 1.2 and 4 however it was part of the plot in PSIV.

  • ps1 is your fave game of all time? Dude you gotta check out the chrono series

  • Dude, he obviously knows the chrono series.

  • Another Great Review I Hope Part 2 Is Almost Done!

  • Happy console gamer, you rule!

  • PSII has always been my favorite game, until I played Oblivion, now the two are tied.

  • PSII is my favorite game ever......tied with Oblivion.

  • III is my fave

  • Love your videos, man!

PS I - Tried playing it, but the 1st person dungeons turned me off. But since its your #1 fav game of all-time, Ill give it another shot. Dont have the Master system cart, have it on GBA.

PS II - Dungeons are absolutely brutal. They go on and on and on. One of the few times I had to draw maps for the dungeons. The only other time I did that (that I could think of) was for the last dungeon of Xenogears.

  • PS III - Played it for about 5 hours, then stopped. There was nothing really bad about it. The generations concept seemed pretty cool at first, but the game for some reason could not hold my interest.

  • PS IV - This is the first PS game I bought, and I absolutely loved it.I bought Genesis cart at KB, marked down to about $35-$40 (from what I assume was $50, later learned it was $80), which I thought was a good deal. This, of course, was many, many months after the original release. PS IV is my third favorite RPG of the 16-bit generation (or second fav, if you dont count Illusion of Gaia as an RPG). First is Chrono Trigger (of course), then Illusion of Gaia, then Phantasy Star IV.

  • Great review.

  • I hope part 2 gets posted soon. This is one of the best reviews of the series yet!

  • another great video. you should host a gaming tv show.

  • I like PSIII :-/

  • I seriously can't wait for part 2 of this video!

I know that Final Fantasy fanboys would get pissed off for me saying this, but I prefer the Phantasy Star series rather than the confusing and overhyped Final Fantasy series.

    HappyConsoleGamer, you are THE SHIT!

  • this is awesome content! thanks for doing what you do.

  • OMG - there you go touching on another series that I hold dearly close to my heart the Phantasy Star series. I remember shelling out $60 bucks for the Sega Master System game in 1988! At the time I thought it couldn't get any better than Legend of Zelda. Everything about the original PS made me a true believer in the SMS. Two years later after the release of Sega Genesis came the PS sequel. I shelled out nearly $80 when it released. But i'll tell ya it was some hard-earned money well spent.

  • Learning there would be a Hint book packaged with PSII was unheard of at the time! It kinda bothered me for awhile

because at times when i'd get stuck i'd be tempted to grab the book and felt like I was a cheater. Eventually I would use it because some parts in the game were just some random puzzle you wouldn't have thought otherwise. Regardless, there would be many sleepless nights on PSII. Probably the most memorable of the series for me ^_^

  • PSIII - MEH! You totally got that right. A different team on a different mission, it was. Though I liked the "generations" premise. PSIV - OMG - it costed me around $100 for theJapan import. Sega America at the time wasn't sure when it was coming to the U.S. so I went grey market. Everything I wanted (except the 3D dungeons missing ) was in this game!

The visuals in Mega Drive Fan helped me pretty well since I didn't know how to read Japanese ^_^

  • Man, the hint book for PSII is pretty much mandatory, those dungeons were absolute beasts and even with the guide they were still confusing as hell! Be prepared to spend 1-3 hours in each of the 15+ dungeons... helluva game though!
