I think Warren Zevon's music is vastly underrated and under-appreciated. He was an amazing musician that didnt get the recognition he deserved. There were NO acoustic guitars used on this version (the studio version) of Carmelita, or any other tacks on Carnival Of Excess. GG was the only Allin around when we made this album.

Someone took video of him doing this song acoustic, sitting in a bathroom. I'm sure that when they put the video together, the footage was used, but the audio was not.
I shot the video (and let Todd use it for the Hated movie) in my bathroom when GG was staying with me in Tampa and when we recorded Carnival Of Excess. I edited the acoustic footage, with the studio audio track a few years back. GG and I had this in mind when we recorded the acoustic version of Carmelita. It was the plan from the beginning when we did this all back in 1991.

@ponkmedia i didn't realize GG ever "sang" anything. I used to have a few letters from him from around 1990 while he was in jail for assault to some girl at a party I think. I always felt like GG got trapped in having to be shocking and one-up himself until there was nothing to do but get more and more disturbing (and less musical). It is a great song, it is a pity he died so young.

There were NO acoustic guitars used on this version (the studio version) of Carmelita, or any other tacks on Carnival Of Excess. GG was the only Allin around when we made this album.

Someone took video of him doing this song acoustic, sitting in a bathroom. I'm sure that when they put the video together, the footage was used, but the audio was not.

I shot the video (and let Todd use it for the Hated movie) in my bathroom when GG was staying with me in Tampa and when we recorded Carnival Of Excess. I edited the acoustic footage, with the studio audio track a few years back. GG and I had this in mind when we recorded the acoustic version of Carmelita. It was the plan from the beginning when we did this all back in 1991.

@ponkmedia i didn't realize GG ever "sang" anything. I used to have a few letters from him from around 1990 while he was in jail for assault to some girl at a party I think. I always felt like GG got trapped in having to be shocking and one-up himself until there was nothing to do but get more and more disturbing (and less musical). If you look at the trajectory of his career/looks/music, it's a pretty fast downward slope on all 3

@maziku - I don't think GG did call his brother Pinky. My guess is he (merle Allin) got the 'Pinky' nickname as he is such a big pussy. It does date back to his days in Mass. - a shitload of GG's friends from back then called him Pinky. Pinky used to wear a t-shirt with the word 'Pinky' on the front in large letters (there is a photo on the net).Whatever, Pinky Allin can fuck right off and count his money

I (Ponk) didn't record any versions of when I die with GG. Perhaps you are thinking of the version from the Mountain Records EP (which is classic!) which was not the same sessions as Carmelita.
