After calling the snail "proverbially slow" I decided that he would escape death by being just fast enough to get out from under the shoe!
@bowlingballout When I was a kid growing up in San Diego my mom paid us a dollar per snail to catch and kill them! I think my record was about 120 in a day and we just had a regular sized yard.

I haven't seen a snail since moving to the desert! Thanks for the little reminder. And, nope, I don't eat them...yuck! LOL
