Fast? When one is investing thousands of crores of rupees in infrastructure, they plan it for future needs and not with a narrow minded approach to just cater today's requirements. I hope your are not in any city planning commission.

By the way, It is Chennai and Kolkata's fault if they have not done it. State governments take care of airport infrastructure. They have governance issues, as usual.

@raj14591 nothing will happen in kolkata. its a dead city full of lazy and depressing people. calcuttans lack any sort of passion or ambition. every successful new airport in India is built using public-private partnerships. kolkata's proposed new airport will be public only. im sure it will be a shit airport.

RAJIV GANDHI again, everything is named after some gandhi, its like there have not been any other great people in our country. What a dishonour to 100s of worthy contributors to the nation. What did rajiv do for the country? brought shame through the bofors scam. The best thing he ever did was get blown up by that human bomb.

Nothing you can do about the naming thing and it's best people don't care too much about names than needed. As it is, in India we make a big deal about names while the bigger issues related to these structures is efficiency, maintenance, safety, comfort, etc. A tussle over naming issues, propagated by political parties only serves to misdirect the public from those more important issues I mentioned.

Be happy that we have a new Airport. Ignore the name. Anyway, we all call it Hyderabad International Airport and never by it's other name.

@selaloy WTF did NTR do to deserve an airport in his name? Argue all you want about gandhi name being over used. But, NTR was an outright idiot. I, being a telugu, think he was just an actor and a stupid CM who did not know the ABCDs of politics and just jumped in and got his due. He definitely did nothing to be remembered for his politics and as an actor he does not deserve to be rewarded with an airport in his memory.

I have been there!!!...its one of the best airports I have seen, definitely better than JFK and Newark Liberty International combined!

JFK/Newark are by no means any standards for comparison (thank you for not mentioning Gatwick/Heathrow ones). Hyd airport is one of many quite similar looking new airports in India. Now if you say its comparable to the best in the world, I would like to conclude that you haven't been to those in Arab world (in fact you dont have to be, just google for pics of Dubai Intl and try not to retract your statement.

I have been to the Dubai airport and the Qatar airport several times. Qatar airport is just rubbish. Horrible design and terrible planning. I have no idea what the architects were smoking. All looks and no function.

Dubai airport has the initial shock and awe effect. With grand interiors. But, what the heck are the fake plastic palm trees all about? You have to walk bloody quarter mile trying to find a restroom with a baby change station.

You really need to realise the importance of "function" and its priority over "form." Arab people are dumb as goats. They have no heads. They spend all their money on ultra grand monuments with absolutely no use what-so-ever. The Dubai and Qatar airports are terrible airports in their pure convenience factors for their purpose as airports. Not all pretty things are desirable buddy!

Why,..? Does it sound preposterous to you that ARR flicks? Listen to Yanni and come back here to leave a reply. No one would dare Anu Malik kind of total ripoffs, but ARR kind of flick-a-tune is quite common across the music composers.

You're right, he does do it, but he is quite subtle in his ripping, unlike Anu Malik. Even his stage antics back in 90's ripped Yanni's. Two instances of ARR's obvious rips,

"Telephone mani pol..." from "Indian" used the basic bass rhythm from Ace of Base's "All that she wants"

"Chandralekha" from "Thiruda Thiruda" ripped off from Michael Jackson's "Who is it?"

I've travelled through the new Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.. And all I can say is that it has been an awesome flying experience. Never before has one witnessed a quantum leap from a middle age-type airports to a modern hi-tech airport (that too in India) such as this! Hyderabad Airport has dared to do just that!! Hope they continue to maintain it in the same manner as it is at present!
