I dont think it was just war that drove this man to kill his wife. He probably had a various stressors and maybe even a violent family history. nonetheless, this is sad. War has different effects on all of us, civilians and soldiers. our only option is to support our troops as best we can, and educate ourselves on the symptoms of PTSD and military culture so we can help those who fear help as a sign of weakness.

PTSD is not an excuse to kill. People with PTSD know right from wrong, they are not legally insane. He's giving interviews all about himself, not the woman he killed. He's talking about how this would effect his career, not how it would effect his wife. These are signs he's a sociopath. Being a veteran from a family full of veterans, he's a common criminal and should be locked up forever.
The way I see it trama and PTSD occurs at all walks of life. Children have nightmares, teens get into schizophrenia mass shootings, mothers have post partum depression and the elderly have dementia. Also there are people who experience trama who don't even realize how it has affected them. Clearly, therapy or housekeeping upstairs would have to be a ongoing practice throughout this life time. That's what they did in the past with the 'myths' to maintain the psyche.

I see men and women come back and get help, or someone notices that that their buddy needs help. I haven't experienced it, but some of my loved ones and friends have. he needed help with violence & alcohol before the deployment

I am a Combat Disabled Vet from Iraq with PTSD, and this man's (HERO's STORY) is the Army's fault. The Army does not take the time to deal with us when we return home. It is a sad story, and I am saddened that his wife died, but a "Trained Warrior" killed his wife, not an ordinary husband.....God Bless you brother.....friend....and comrade!

Interesting. I tend to say that when a man kills his wife or visa versa? even if it is from war damage? how come millions of others don't kill their families when they come home. Yes, abuse or war certainly alters the mind, even temporary episodes of insanity.

I did not word that right. I do believe you. I only mention the others who come back don't go blazing guns either. So I am agreeing with you. I believe it would be rare for it to be from war. For many come back and while they have problems they don't kill their families.

This is really sad to see. Believe him or not but he knows what happened, and he knows why he did it. I believe everything he said. All the shit they go through in iraq/afghan is ridiculous. My fiancee is deployed over there right now and I thank god that he isn't going through stuff like that. It's usually the other guys that go off base and do the missions in example infantry,tankers,rangers, etc.

think about going to war, the worst, most hellish experiance anyone could face. Now think about coming home to the one person who you love most who has helped you through. Now imagine she not only spent your entire savings (around 25000 for a e-4 soldier), and then cheated on you while you were gone. murder would definately cross my mind. I am a vet of o.i.f. 2008 trust me around 1 out of 5 guys get left by their woman for other men while in iraq.

i had a lot of anger problems with my wife before i enlisted and i knew that if i came home things would be the same here but i would be different so i actually divorced my wife after i left my AIT school because i didnt want to come home and deal with the same old shit. being married young to a lazy bitch had a lot to do with it but i know the stress and everything i would have to deal with being trained to kill someone and things i would have to see i would bring home to this hate at home

War is so sad, this is a prime example of PTSD. My husband have a severe case of PTSD and we are learning how to cope with it in different ways everyday. A humanbeing should never have to go through something like this. My heart goes out to all the Veterans, young and old and their families. Some end up killing themselves, children, wives, misc. people, etc. Being strong mentally, while part of the difference, does not count for a large enough percentage of this. @lmollot First of all, you should research Post Traumatic Stress Disorder so you can educate yourself. Second of all PTSD is a serious mental disorder just like Deperession and it consists of flashbacks which bring the person back to the moment they were suffering, such as war in his situation. Many people with PTSD when having a flashback become violent and start becoming aggressive towards others around them, even women with PTSD, it's not like beating her on purpose it's different than that

My Platoon Leader's wife of ten years went and took trips to Chicago and was fuckin an old flame twice a month while he was away...then we found out she cheated on him in Vegas before we even left Cali...now the Platoon Leader killed an insurgent face to face in a house in Iraq....he didn't come home and kill his wife. This dude just lost control, just like every other murderer

I dont think it was just war that drove this man to kill his wife. He probably had a various stressors and maybe even a violent family history. nonetheless, this is sad. War has different effects on all of us, civilians and soldiers. our only option is to support our troops as best we can, and educate ourselves on the symptoms of PTSD and military culture so we can help those who fear help as a sign of weakness.

The way I see it trama and PTSD occurs at all walks of life. Children have nightmares, teens get into schizophrenia mass shootings, mothers have post partum depression and the elderly have dementia. Also there are people who experience trama who don't even realize how it has affected them. Clearly, therapy or housekeeping upstairs would have to be a ongoing practice throughout this life time. That's what they did in the past with the 'myths' to maintain the psyche.

I am a Combat Disabled Vet from Iraq with PTSD, and this man's (HERO's STORY) is the Army's fault. The Army does not take the time to deal with us when we return home. This is really sad to see. Believe him or not but he knows what happened, and he knows why he did it. I believe everything he said. All the shit they go through in iraq/afghan is ridiculous. My fiancee is deployed over there right now and I thank god that he isn't going through stuff like that. It's usually the other guys that go off base and do the missions in example infantry,tankers,rangers, etc.

think about going to war, the worst, most hellish experiance anyone could face. Now think about coming home to the one person who you love most who has helped you through. Now imagine she not only spent your entire savings (around 25000 for a e-4 soldier), and then cheated on you while you were gone. murder would definately cross my mind. I am a vet of o.i.f. 2008 trust me around 1 out of 5 guys get left by their woman for other men while in iraq.

i had a lot of anger problems with my wife before i enlisted and i knew that if i came home things would be the same here but i would be different so i actually divorced my wife after i left my AIT school because i didnt want to come home and deal with the same old shit. being married young to a lazy bitch had a lot to do with it but i know the stress and everything i would have to deal with being trained to kill someone and things i would have to see i would bring home to this hate at home

War is so sad, this is a prime example of PTSD. My husband have a severe case of PTSD and we are learning how to cope with it in different ways everyday. A humanbeing should never have to go through something like this. My heart goes out to all the Veterans, young and old and their families. That you may have the strength to push through one day at a time. Always remember your love for eachother. Love is key.

@lmollot For your information, I'm a 220-pound male who can do pull-ups, so it's a fair bet most women and children are significantly "weaker" than I am, and despite that and several incidents where I thought a woman had it coming, I have never beaten let alone killed a woman or a child.

@xxxxsjdxxxx You can't count yourself as if he accounts for all soldiers. Some end up killing themselves, children, wives, misc. people, etc. Being strong mentally, while part of the difference, does not count for a large enough percentage of this. Everyone is just on opposite ends of the spectrum. You haven't done anything (if indeed true) and others like you may fall into that category. Just as there are some who just break. Not enough to be done one way of the other. Stay strong.(^_^)

@lmollot First of all, you should research Post Traumatic Stress Disorder so you can educate yourself. Second of all PTSD is a serious mental disorder just like Deperession and it consists of flashbacks which bring the person back to the moment they were suffering, such as war in his situation. Many people with PTSD when having a flashback become violent and start becoming aggressive towards others around them, even women with PTSD, it's not like beating her on purpose it's different than that

I know 13 guys in my Battaliobs who's Marriages fell apart while we were on one of the worst combat tours of this war. My Platoon Leader's wife of ten years went and took trips to Chicago and was fuckin an old flame twice a month while he was away...then we found out she cheated on him in Vegas before we even left Cali...now the Platoon Leader killed an insurgent face to face in a house in Iraq....he didn't come home and kill his wife. This dude just lost control, just like every other murderer
