  • ERSOME!!!! it is ersome [erome means double awesome]

  • My speech coach sent me here to prepare for a competition. So much fun!

  • @NickyLess

That's awesome, I'd say this and Make Them Laugh

  • Frank Sinatra said it best (although he was discussing Eleanor Powell and Fred Astaire): "You can sit around and wait, but you'll never see the likes of this again." Kelly and O'Connor used this number in the film to showcase each other's talents; Each contributed his own steps in the choreography and the other performed it. This is borne out if you watch some of their other movies. You can see the elements of style used here. Part of an amazing body of work from both of these men.

  • Dig those tap shoes! I'd kill for a pair in every color.

  • my god XDXDXDXD X°°°°D

  • I loved it when my film class had to watch this for our studies :D

Sounds really stupid but I want this played as the final song when I die :) I want everyone wanting to dance and sing :)

  • Most people are forgetting about Gene Kelly because they are to busy playing with video games or something. :( This is just incredible people need to see this.

  • @13SophiaSwift I play video games while listening to this.

  • Gene Kelly is best tap dancer ever!!!! Incredible in could watch this all day long! :)

  • How the fuck did I get from Nichijou to here?!

  • do these bastards wear tap dancing shoes everywhere?

  • @Solllidsnake That's what I was thinking through pretty much the entire movie! haha

  • @Solllidsnake

Ok, that made me laugh uproariously.

  • Its weird at the end when they are like aaayy

  • This is one of the most funniest parts of the movie..

  • O'connor was always so underrated... hes amazing too :D

  • @Insanity354 i know right! personally, i think he better than Gene! :)

  • Amazing! So light on there feat and just great dancers all around! oh year their acting is great as well lol. So talented! <3

  • ¿Quien es el mejor bailarín de Tap de todos los tiempos? Digan sus razones :-[}

  • Gene Kelly tiene mas estilo y clase

  • I kind of wish they'd put this song in The King's Speech - would have been hilarious!

  • I watched this when I was 9, and fell in love. My intro to dance, right here. I love Kelly. Dang, he's amazing.

  • Back when entertainment was real and actors had genuine talent.

  • @itsFiggers Don't get me wrong, I love this movie and older movies as well, but sadly it was the audience that changed...They got tired of these types of classics and wanted more, which led to the almost collapse of Hollywood in the 60's/70's

  • just absoulutely AMAZING!!!!!! I am going to have a craze for this for ages!!!Heading to dancing lessons!!!!

  • Now THAT'S dancing!

  • AAAAAAAAAAA!

  • My favorite part of "Singing in the Rain"

  • I wanna learn tap!

  • i took all of the precautions to make sure this wouldn't turn off in the middle of the song

  • @MiiSSlickKumZBayBe Isn't he??? Especially in that sweater...godddd I want him sooo bad!!!!

  • There's an oh-so-subtle difference between Donald O'Connor and Gene Kelly here, and you have to look discerningly to see it: O'Connor is dancing, but it's as if Kelly is just floating through this routine. Look honestly and objectively and you'll see that O'Connor really works to hit all the steps (and does it well), but Kelly is totally in his element...he is absolutely on his game, no effort, as though he was born to do this...which, I suppose, he was.

  • I love Donald! he was really the bad ass here, he was the first to dance on skates and actually, I was reading how they had practiced this 70-somethng times, thereabouts. can't stop watchingggggggggggggggg

  • man there fast

  • switch 'em with Fred Astaire and Eddie Bracken and then let's watch this scene (well that would be interesting).... I do like this movie, but I just never felt it was 1920's enough. There's so much they could have done with the subject of silent movies ending. And I am more team Fred than team Gene..But the Singing in the Rain number is perfection and even I can't touch that with a speck of critiscism.

  • If that was my office i'd be like 'Get out'

  • Donald O'Connor is dreamy.

  • @MasseyKY Yes!!!! Donald IS dreamy!!:)) See his great romantic numbers in Call Me Madam, Anything Goes, Walking My Baby Back Home, and so many more. Check out my channel for great videos and montages by my friends. AND, see my channel picture...it's a wow!!!

  • @faith4094 I've seen them, I love me a comedic song and dance man, also swoon over Danny Kaye. They're my top two since I was a kid. I'll check you out, thanks

  • @MasseyKY You are so welcome!!!:))))

  • @faith4094 and that is a great pic! They don't make em like that anymore.

  • @MasseyKY Yes, isn't he just....ooh!!!!:))))

  • This is incredible. Love, love, love this scene. One of my favorite movies.

  • oh my gosh i started cracking up when they were piling stuff on him! why can't more movies be like this?

  • This is one of my favourite scenes in the movie <3

  • I could watch this scene over and over again and never get tired of it. Just incredible.

  • Gene Kelly is such an inspiration to me xx

  • No one tap dances anymore :(

  • @SherlocksChannel not like these two. i swear i can press the replay button a million times just to see them tap dance..its so entertaining

  • 1:12 4chan in a nutshell.

  • It always made me laugh that no matter how much Don and Cosmo dragged him around, piled stuff on top of him or made a mess of his office, that speech coach just acted like a confused rag doll.

    Such amazing dancers!

  • they match :D holy moses!

  • lol wtf is this?

  • HOOP DEE DOO DEE DOODLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is that the spongbob on the table?!

  • I love how they incorporated both their styles of dancing in this. So amazing! I miss performing!

  • If my speech students did this every time I gave them a new tongue-twister, I don't think we would get anywhere quickly.

  • @Purpleblob99

But every day would be an adventure :D

  • @Purpleblob99 On the contrary, if they DID do this every time a new tongue-twister was recieved you'd have some pretty talented speech students.

  • How this is humainly possible, I don't know. Lets just face it guys... back then you actually had to be talented to be star. This is incredible. Every single move is so carefully crafted by Gene Kelly. These guys were the creme de la creme. SUCK ON THAT NICKI MINAJ. peace.

  • let me just say that im in love with their shoes!!! haha....theyre so cool! and im such a gen kelly/frank sinatra/donald o'connor lover <3 <3 the dancing in this song is just amazing! :)

  • @ccmeu

I agree with you. I am 16 years old and this is one of my favorite movies. It's just amazing. The music, the dances, everything. But my friends thing, this is crap.

  • @ccmeu

I totally support you. I'm 16 and I just LOVE this movie. I could watch it everyday. If I'd be looking this movie with one of my friends, they'd just laugh at me. But the music is just amazing, the dances are and I just love movies like that.

  • @classregister You have great taste! This is REAL talent!!!! This has lasted because it's a brilliant classic!!Love Donald!!!!!:))))))

  • Thank you soooo much for posting this!

  • 26 people supposes there toeses are roses!

  • ESTO ES INCREIBLE, NO SE HA HECHO NADA IGUAL IS AMAZING

  • the snychronisity is amazing

  • I love them so much!!!

  • It puts a smilie on my face every time I watch it.

  • This is seriously annoying!!

  • @MatthewKingo then don't watch it...

  • Hey everyone! Get on the "kids these days" bandwagon! C'mon, it's great fun! We talk about how much better our stuff is then their stuff. Even the most mediocre of our stuff is far grander than even the most top notch of their stuff. Thank God nostalgia doesn't blind our judgement at all.

  • At 1:03, just close your eyes, listen, and be amazed.

  • Poor Donald O'Connor, he was an amazing dancer, probably in the top 3 or 4 of his time. But the minute they put him next to Gene Kelly, he looks like a student trying his best to keep up with his teacher. Had this been an O'Connor solo, everyone would have thought it was perfect, and it damn near is, but with Kelly right there you see that his jumps weren't as big and his movements weren't as fluid.

  • 21 years old, this is my favourite film of all time. simply superb!

  • this bringas back so many memories!! ~adam

  • HOW IS THIS NOT THE BEST!

  • kelly g.

  • Donald O'Connor reminds me of Danny Kaye in this movie.

  • They dont make/or put effort/ or put heart/ or put soul into movies like they used to.

  • You can tell Gene Kelly just absolutly loves dancing. In the sequence between 1:23 and 2:02 you can just tell that it comes so naturally to him. His little smile just shows how much he loves it. Donald O' Connor is a great dancer too, but he's more of a funny guy, Gene Kelly just loves to dance whenever and wherever. He's got a rare gift.

  • @maddiep33 I'm sorry, but I stongly disagree. Yes, Gene Kelly was a fantastic dancer and his love for it really shone through. But I think that Donald's love shows just as much. Watch some of his other movies, like "Call Me Madam" or "Walking My Baby Back Home". His love for dancing is so prevelant. He seems to explode with passion.

  • @rungirlmgg I respect your opinion. i posted that comment a while ago and my friends and I always have this discussion. I have since changed my opinion, now I can't decide between the two because my friends prove very good points as well... whereas Gene Kelly is more of a tap dancer, Donald O'Connor really dances anything, like in Make 'Em Laugh. I'm just not sure... they're both so talented.

  • @maddiep33 Actually, Gene Kelly was more of a ballet dancer and jazz, including tap training. Donald was raised as a Vaudeville hoofer. Until this movie, Donald never did ballet like dance (but he had done comedy dance). He credited Gene for helping him adapt to differant styles. Yes, they were both fantastic :)

  • I appreciate a man who can ACTUALLY dance :)

  • From 2:03 to 2:28 that's all one take. Now that's talent!

  • So my school is doing thoroughly modern Millie soon and a local choreographer is giving tap dancing lessons, and three of my guy friends are taking them! (seriously, not as a joke). I CANT WAIT!!!!!

  • They make it look so effortless

  • It is movies like this that are the reason I take tap dancing lessons!

  • Reguarding my last post. Hoping to get some weird looks from people too!

  • Its normal for people to burst out song in the world of show buisness. I will do this the next time I go to a mall or something. Wish me luck! :P

  • Pity they don't make 'em like this anymore

  • Heyy look its MAMBO XD

  • best funny song eva

  • "AAAAAAAAAA!" Wow. That was a random ending!

  • Donald O Conner Sexy as hell.

  • @MiiSsSlicKumZBayBe Donald was the BEST!!!! Incredibly sexy and adorable!!! See my channel picture of him!!! Wow!!!!! Also see videos, montages and tributes to him. He was amazing in romantic dances, as well as comedic ones. Also see these "Donald" channels: sorrowfulflower, catwomanpl1, donaldo'connorfan, rungirlmgg, wasittoyou, vaudevillefanatic, bexbeckyxx, etc.

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!

  • I'm exhausted just watching this routine. I think I'll go lay down for a while.

  • GREAT and a true Evergreen this Movie!!

  • Amazing, but the tittle is wrong, they say 'moises supposes' no moses.

  • @RedwarfOne

    no, actually you're wrong.

  • @adeptman21

No, I watch it with subtitles and they say 'moises'.

  • I LOVE GENE KELLY!! He is an inspiration to everyone in musical theatre. He is the best we've ever had. His singing and dancing talent is perfection. This routine is one of my fave's, it looks like so much fun.

  • ANYTHING GENE KELLEY DOES IS CINEMA GOLD/....HEART HIM

  • O.O

  • put this link after normal facebook site and like - /pages/Tap-Dancing-should-be-remembered/253048771403499

  • "A!"

  • This is the old fashioned equivalent to an epically long and complicated guitar solo XD

  • they are both legends some people can't even remember tap exsisted..

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Little did the speech therapist know, he was trapped in a musical.

  • My favorite part is from 2:03 and on!

  • I hate 26 more people in the world now...

  • their pants...so high....

  • i wish guys could Dance like that these days!!! now that would be something!

  • I love Gene's face when he dances, he looks so happy!

  • @babyfacedstar Me too! Especially the part where he dances solo for a few seconds

  • 26 people are voice coaches.

  • I agree with you ccmeu. Not many appreciate classic movies. However, I do"

  • @Princedukedandycorn Classic movies are the best - Donald O'Connor movies, especially - love him!!! More and more people are realizing that those classic movies are far superior and have far greater talent in them.

  • my dad loves musicals, so i watched a lot of musicals when i was younger, and i love musicals now, and im only 14 :P haha. i love classic movies and shows! this was one of my favorites, along with chitty chitty bang bang, and mary poppins, i miss all of those movies now!

  • Comment removed

  • @nickij12 Of course you do. They're great. Even the youngest of children know that. Now quit broadcasting your age for all the pedophiles to see and go watch Sound of Music.

  • " A Mose is a Mose! A Rose is a Rose! A Toes is a Toes! HOPE-DEE-DO-DEE-DOODLE!!" XD ROTFL I love that and I love this movie, the music, the lines, everything. Why don't kids these days appreciate this sort of classic music and these wonderful classic movies? They are a hundred times better than everything today!

  • @ccmeu i'm a kid and i LOVE this movie and everything about it. (except Lena's voice that is)

  • @ccmeu I totally agree, love this film, have seen about a hundred times, allways makes you feel better but also wonder, where are actors like that nowadays.. oh and by the way I'm onl y 17, so some youths do appreciate it!!

  • @ccmeu i completely agree. i get picked on at school for liking this kind of music and its really stupid. not everyone wants to listen to this tpain, lil wayne, kesha auto tune crap all the time.

  • @ccmeu

I was born in the 90's, and I love this.

  • @ccmeu well i guess if kids these days dont appreciate these films, then ill just skip ahead to 25 years old. im in 7th grade and this is one of my favorite movies of all time next to king kong (1933)!

  • @ccmeu The best thing Hollywood can do is bring back these kind of movies with talented actors. Now all we have is Kim Kardashian and Megan Fox...I see a disconnect there between the person and any actual talent! LOL

  • @ccmeu

I'm young and I appreaciate it!!!!

  • @ccmeu I love being strange if it means I get to love Singing in the Rain, Monty Python, and other things among those lines.

    (I'm 14, that's why I say this.)

  • @MegamanSora1 i am just like you in that sense. i'm 16 and i love Singin in the Rain, Monty Python, Mel Brooks... my friends at school love these same movies, so i guess we're all pretty weird, but we all know and we're proud of it :)

  • @maddiep33 I love all of these and more.

Good thing to know there are some intelligent kids out there. I was scared I was the only one.

  • @MegamanSora1 There's not too many of us, but there are some. We just hide it sometimes until we find the right people to share it with who you know would appreciate it...

  • Never get tired of watching those two dance. It's like they're floating on air. Wow.

  • I can only think if JOE MOSES, :P STARKIDS WOO!

  • I just love it!!!!

  • Gene and Donald are a couple of tap dancing hooligans! Who's going to clean up that mess? :) Really, I watch this now as an educator and think they must have both been hyperactive when they were kids, but thank goodness their parents got them into dance classes!

  • I swear it's impossible to watch this without smiling, show this to anybody and dare them to no smile, it's impossible.

  • Paw brought me here

  • @faith4094 no doubt he is the BEST. I just love him <3

  • why can't man be that artistic anymore without thinking it's gay? :c

  • @Mariana21385 They are gay! Gay as in happy that is! :D

  • @missloveandevol LOL I wish I had friends like them

  • You just don't see these kind of classics anymore. They're is no real talent anymore. Still can't get enough of the classics though :)

  • 25 ppl hate musicals

  • What is this from? Its awesome!

  • @dramabethie Singin' in the Rain - 1952 - acknowledged as the best musical ever made and the 10th best film ever made. (AFI) Love Donald O'Connor!!!!!!!

  • 0:34 to 0:43 gets me every time. XD

  • Musicals are the best! They make you happy! :D

  • Real Talent. Which this generation lacks a lot of.

  • My highschool did this as a musical this year... Best... day... EVAR!

  • all music from this century suck...id take Gene Kelly, Elvis, buddy holly, or Mr. Sinatra anyday over lady ga ga or justin beiber...no one makes music good at all good music ended in the 80's then it all went to crap

  • i love this song

  • In fairness to the "they-don't-make-good-musicals-anymore" brigade, Chicago was incredible. Rob Marshall is a fantastic director and choreographer. Personally it's one of my favourite films of the last 10 years and probably my 2nd favourite musical of all time.

  • Thumbs up if you have a continuous smile on your face watching this!! = D

  • I just realised, in order for Don to be able to pull stuff like this off, he'd have to be wearing his tap shoes all the time, just in case an opportunity came to dance for no reason other than a funny rhyme...I wish I could live like that...

  • 25 people Supposed erroneously
