  • Very nice work!

  • @sakismar0110 Thanks bud

  • 5:51-6:05 lol

  • Thats so cool, I do all my wiring almost the same way! Not sure if you saw my wiring 101 video, but ya I don't like bad wiring repairs either :)

    Great video!!

  • @Rasd4Metta Thanks bud, ya I just dont care fore those crimps much

  • Good job ,you can also use that torch to slightly warm the pretzles .Makes them good just do not burn them

  • @wtbm123 Thanks for the tip ha ha

  • Comment removed

  • haha, you're funny!

  • Weniger Straßenfahrzeug. Bedingt durch die Hinterräder sind breiter als die Vorderräder.

  • Nice video, very clear focus and easy to follow.

  • @jt1234999 Thanks

  • great vid! i definetively need some new cabling in my car and this really taught me how to do it properly! btw when are you update on the buggy coming out?

  • @onlyreallifematters Thanks bud, I think next week I will do an update on it

  • hahahahaaha this video is great and extremely funny

  • @WeirdoMikey2T Thank you

  • 2:34 i freaken hate when i do that!

  • @WeirdoMikey2T You must mean forget the shrink tube, worst is when the wire is already too short cause then it has to get cut again

  • love your video i also watch eric the car guy

  • @jaymaster774 Cool, I appreciate you watching

  • WHO USE FOR CONTINUE VARIABLE CAMSHALF TIMING CONTORL AND DOUBLE CONTINUE VARIABLE CAMSHALF TIMING CONTORL OR VVTi AND Dual VVTi OR TI VTC ARE DUCK' DROPING BRAIN AND NO POLITE FOR THEM.

  • should use a butane soldering iron, good inbetween tool

  • If you're using an iron, it helps a lot to tin the wire before you make the joint. Trust me, i do it for a living ;D

  • Good video. I've done the same for years except I use 15W soldering iron. Works fine unless you need to solder bigger wires. Correct solder also makes a big difference in succeeding.

  • @retkimora

So true, thanks for your input

  • Good stuff.

  • Funny stuff . Good tips thanks

  • All other connections are soldered, shrink wrapped, taped a bit to make it bigger and shrink wrapped with a larger tube to make the connection strong... other than the one at the dash, which i plan to bring in and out on cold winter mornings, used a good binding terminal for it though so no heat at all.

  • yes Grout... My space shuttle would have blown up today. I had runaway amps going to my hydrogen - oxygen separator cell. Changed up the binding terminals and its all good and cool now and finally the proper amps to make more hydrogen.

I have to say. you've got some really great videos man. Thanks so much.

  • @darcyklyne Keep your shuttle flying man, on hydrogen that is, thanks for watching, did you solder now?

  • I do the same thing man.. fuck that little piece of plastic on them. I crimp, solder, then shrink like yo do and its way more reliable

  • @KrankieV2 You bet, its the only way

  • Kinda funny, you and I do the same thing with those stupid connectors. Gut em, solder 'em, and shrink 'em!

  • @DuckmanCycles I think its the best way, trouble free

  • you can get connecters ( i have no idea who makes them, the old shop i worked at uses them) that don't crimp, the look about the same but the "plastic" is clear.

you just put the wire inside the connecter, heat with a lighter and it solders, shrinks, and seals with a resin all in one go.

  • @mageac look up elektralink, they might not be the ones i was using, but they are pretty much the same.

we used them on salt truck and very very rarely had failures

  • @mageac Sounds like a good idea, I will check them out.

  • So I'm not the only one who forgets to put the tubing on!!! Yep,soldering is the only way to do automotive and marine wiring. The solder actually makes a weather proof joint as well as a good mechanical joint, and most importantly, the very best electrical joint possible! I know in a boat, you're wasting your time if you don't solder the connectors on! On the fuse blocks I don't even use the tubing because the solder completely coats the wire and the insulation melts into it sealing it. Good job!

  • @justforyou618 Thanks for having a look at my video

  • I actually did some wiring the other day without forgeting the shrink tube and half decent solders i guess i am slowly getting better

  • @dukesroc01 Awesome, ha ha I still forget the shrink tube sometimes

  • @groutaone ditto

  • Thankfully we have free health care because I just bust a gut at the end with the safety tips. Excellent wiring system, thanks for the vid brotha!

  • @xmozzazx Glad to hear we bust some guts ha ha, dont know what gets into me sometimes, often that kinda stuff just happens so I put it in the vid

  • Hey groutaone. Send me your email back to my channel. I would like to comment on your crimping . I have some ideas for you.

  • @wakesurfingiowa I dont mind if you comment here, its all cool.

  • every time i get a really nice solder i have forgotten the shrink tube

  • @dukesroc01 guess Iam not the only one then

  • @groutaone nope u are not i always like to solder everything though because in my opinion a bad solder is still a better connection than a crimp connector

  • ERIC THE CAR GUY,,,,

  • ERICTHECARGUY IS AWESOME!!

  • Excellent video! Yep, I've got a few of those crimp connections to replace as well. I like the propane torch idea. Much faster. Think I'll try it... hopefully without frying a finger or setting the car on fire!

  • @JacHmr Burning cars and fingers both make for a bad day lol

  • Great video, I think I might even do a video response because I do my wiring in similarly different way! Watch this space.

  • Awsome video

  • @jrobb913 Thank you

  • Really good video, solder is the only way to go!. And a heat gun works really well too with the heat shrink!. Liked the ending...hahaha..if the crickets go silent your busted!...lol

  • @carnivore10 Thanks for watching, dumb crickets always seem to find a way into my videos ha ha

  • Good job.

A couple of things of leaned over the years,

Clean the wire and connector with isopropyl alcohol

Use flux on both the wire and connector

Use a soldering iron with less heat to avoid melting the insulation Solder is slowly being replaced by crimp on connectors and cannon plugs in the aviation world because of the numerous disadvantages.

  • Apparently one person wants there space shuttle to blow up ! Awesome videos !

  • @kerobinsonii Thanks, well its not Osama as he's swimmin wit da fishes.

  • I hate gimp connectors except for weatherpac connectors, those I love :), great video

  • @madman1124 Thanks, hey I have a weather pac kit I got from jegs, another video idea

  • @groutaone sweet, would love to see that video :), got introduced to them though extream 4X4 and trucks.

  • i love the comeidic twist on your vids! lol

  • @CCSinventions Thanks, sometimes I dont even know myself whats going to happen next in the video ha ha

  • I like your kind of weirdness. Thanks for the shout out, I actually like your tool much better for bench work.

  • @EricTheCarGuy Hey no problem, you had one due.

  • I liked the propane idea. I am terrible at soldering.

  • @cashstore1 Just gotta be careful not to heat too much or it melts the plastic.

  • ahh pretzels best snack ever way better for you then any chip too thats for sure..

  • Heat shrink and solder , nice job , I agree with you about those crimp connecter's i hate them ,

  • @terence20001 My whole car used to be full of them, yuck!

  • Great video... and you are a great stuntman too!!!! XDXD

  • @pinduline Thanks, Idk about the stuntman as I have had too many broken bones, Iam good at crashing though ha ha

  • Keep the videos coming. They're among the highest quality and best informed of any on youtube, let alone within the automotive genre. Really helpful an entertaining. That said, lets see some more drag racing!

  • @toobahjon Thank you very much, will get some drag racing vids up this summer, was even planning on getting another go pro facing backwards (victim cam) and if I am the victim, my helmet cam will show it ha ha.

  • hahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahaha that made me laugh so hard with the eye and ear thing hahahahhahahaha great work!

  • @happywombatproducts That makes my day to hear that, I got a smile on my face as I type this.

  • @groutaone :)

  • @mikocoon That weller soldering iron heats with a flame? Sounds like something I would like.

  • i can see the beauty of soldering the ends being that you are using it in a shaky race car but you need a REAL crimp tool that one that you are using is a POS that just won't last you need the one that puts a dent into the metal when you crimp with it , actually bites the fitting right into the wire the proper way then you won't have to solder things like that of course the heat shrink is always a good idea to give the end more stability so can't say anything about that part

  • @daddytech Yes I know what you mean about a good crimp, I think I would still go for solder in the long run and then you know its good for life.

  • @groutaone yeah the reason i said the heat shrink is still good is if any of the connectors are cheap enough they will corode too so there's another thing your soldering helps prevent.

  • Wadda ya mean wired by a gorilla??? Gorillas make for some of the best electricians.

  • @Fotoez The one that wired my car thought he was good, I would fire him on the spot. No more bannanas for that dude.

  • Where can i get a Groutaone hat?!?

  • @alpinestar7272 If you want one I could get another made for you

  • @groutaone that would be awesome!

  • Now i gotta re-wire my grandma....>.<

  • lol today i had my first class of a soldering course!

  • @2StrokeSmokes And no homework for the weekend

  • Awesome

  • Great vid Groutaone! When I got my 47 Ford, I had the same problem. Not only did it have the old glass fuses, but most of the wiring was one color. And even worse, sometimes they would randomly splice two different color wires together just to make it interesting. I installed a new fuse panel with the blade style fuses and then rewired it in the same fashion that you did. It sure was tedious work though. If I give you my address, will you mail me a pretzel....lol

  • @RamblinAround Yes but I think I will mail you my crickets instead ha ha

  • nice vid butI think the fumes got to you in the end,,,my wife asked if a crickit got in the house,,,

  • @mustie1 Lol thats great, musta been one in the pretzle bag

  • UH my EAR!!!

  • Where did you buy your wire?

    thanks

  • @Laxbro37 I got it out of some catalog somewhere but I think you can get it on ebay

  • great info, I wish I had soldering the wires on my craftsman tractor when i re wired it. Iv had a few connectors come loose. I will do it eventually.

  • @IHcubcadet Yep, they always come loose, takes extra time to do it my way but then you have something that will last

  • Good vid mate...I hate the smell of melting ear wax...lol...Yeah I'm up for pretzels.

  • @ziggassedup pretzles and crickets, mmmm

  • Now I gotta go re-wire my space ship....

  • @suzukiholdenman Dont be in it when it blows up, or at least wear a helmet.

  • @suzukiholdenman mines dickered ....its in the cabbage....ahhhh crapppp

  • awesome vid bud, im a automotive technician by trade and i specialize in electrical diagnosis and repair and that is almost exactly the way i do it. i am sure there is alot of people that this will help alot - and its one less thing i will have to fix in my shop if people stop using that crap.

also, i am gonna have to build myself on of those clippy things to hold the wire, its a great idea

  • @dangalla Well those crimps sound like they are making you money fixing all that junk he he

  • good tips. thats pretty much how i wired my Rx7 after going from EFI to a carb. i took the entire engine harness out and made up my own. worked beautifully! :)

  • @paradoxdesigns Yep, and then you know its going to last.

  • good vid man as usual

  • @tedhaze1 Thanks

  • I use this same way for car audio also. From small to big 1/0 wire.

  • @tom58c Nice

  • I have seen races lost because a single wire has come off...

  • Nice job! You're such a pretzel tease! lol

  • @edzgarage Thanks, want a cricket too?

  • great vid man..

  • @specialformula14 Thank you

  • "Nice strong joint" @ 4:56 LOL Gotta love it!

    G1 - the modernday Davidsfarm! :D

  • @rekjavicxxx I think I would rather be known as the guy who lost an eye in a horrific soldering accident.

  • I've always thought those crimps were aluminum and that the solder wouldn't stick.I never cared for them because as you said they tend to come loose. It takes time, but I like to make a loop of wire to fit my terminals then tin the whole thing with solder.Good solid connection.I'm going to try that out next time I use a crimp though, looks quick and effective.

Oh, that dude is stealing your snacks again.

  • @heliarche Ya you will like it, solder works great on those.

  • WTF ending hahaha

  • @rex4x4 When I make a video, I dont always even know myself whats going to happen next ha ha, I watch it when the editing is done to see how it went.

  • does beer come with the pretzels. lol

    thumbs up buddy .

  • @500passwords Why yes it does, thanks for the rate guitar dude

  • I want some Pretzels.

  • @NOLIMIT69NOLIMIT2000 It take some practice but see if you can grab the one in the video ha ha

  • Holy cow, you're making wires for the space shuttle?!?

  • @WhackTheWax Just messin wit ya

  • i learned alot from you, thanks !

    btw, your funny !

  • @seangeron1995 Awesome, thanks

  • great wiring, I like seeing someone make quality instead of throwing stuff together.

  • @ScoundrelzNTwK Thanks, I hate when stuff only works some of the time because of lame wiring, and this car shakes so much those wires got to be in good shape.

  • super duper

  • @beeqool Thanks for always watching

  • @groutaone yeah i doo i wait for the next video allready :)

  • Cool to know how to make some wires like that, it is very useful. Thanks for the instructions.

  • @MagicCadillac No problem, fun video to make

  • Nice job Buddy!! you're right 99.99% of the time you have electrical problems it's caused by a crimped connector!!☺

  • @805ROADKING Or some kid just finished his first sterio install, those can be classic as well.

  • pretzles !! now i need beer ?

  • @phill903 Yes

  • I used the same method when i wired my FL350 odyssey w/ a sled motor. Worked great. The contraption with an alligator clip is genius, soldering two wires together is quite a pain without something like that.

  • @nitrosport5 Ok you got me curious, how big of a sled engine? Bet it rips now!

  • @groutaone 570CC from about an 89 Yamaha Exciter. ive got a little slideshow thing in my videos with the build, and a short running video. It does run pretty good now. Much better than stock.
